When I first saw one of your videos a few years ago, I could’ve never imagined what you go through daily. Last year after dealing with left sided weakness for close to 2 years and urging from family, I finally went in. It took a couple months but I found out I had a tumor inside of my spinal cord. After the first surgeon told me he was confident he could do the surgery as well as anyone in the state (though he had only done 2 like it), that I’d be lucky if I wasn’t paralyzed, and that I should go home and spend the holidays with my family, he suggested a teaching hospital in the state for better “post operative care”. That was the best advice he gave me. My surgeon was much more experienced, he specializes in spinal tumors, and is the kindest and most humble man I ever met. In March, he successfully removed a tumor from inside the C2-3 level of my spinal cord that was pushing on many nerves and would have continued until it killed me. I am so grateful for him! Unfortunately, the only way to remove it left me with a spinal cord injury. I am considered an incomplete quadriplegic. I only deal with a fraction of the challenges you face and it is so HARD!! I have days of grieving the life I used to have and days where I feel like my rehab is taking forever. Nerve healing is so long and unpredictable and it’s so hard to not know what my full potential will be. You are so strong for going through this with such a great attitude and I can only hope I get there someday. I am so glad you found someone to be by your side. I am currently living back with my parents which has been so hard because I loved my independence. I fear if something were to happen to them or if I never am able to be independent again. People like you give me hope that I can do this and that it is possible to have a future. Thank you for sharing your journey with us!
Oh my, I'm really hurting for you. That literally made me cry. I have a lot of pain to deal with after two spinal surgeries, but I can still walk. I'm 73yrs & trip a lot, but fall only 1-2x per yr & learned 2 use lots of carpet squares in apt. I can relate to some loss, but not as much as you. I just think Cole is 1 of the sweetest guys I've ever known & Clarissa is a blast. It does give me some hope of a loving relationship someday. I pray that Father God help your body to heal & recover much movement. I ask this for His glory, in the mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, amen.
@@sharonspencer2312 thank you! I am VERY lucky! I am very slowly learning to walk on my own. I use a 4 wheeled walker right now and have done a little walking with a cane. I deal with a lot of spasms and need to wear braces, I may never walk fully on my own. Just depends on how much my nerves heal! It’s definitely a hard thing to deal with at 28, but God has absolutely been with me to have such a rare tumor and extremely risky surgery go so well.
I had both of my hips replaced and with my L hip in 2019 I had no sensation and no motor function in my L foot; I had a drop foot which I had to wear a leg brace which I overcame it with PT and I also have nerve pain in my L foot...I've twisted my ankle 3 times-- twice this year and 1 after the L hip replacement in 2019! I just wanted to let you know that in California you do not need to pay for metered parking on the street, if you have a handicap placard. I am posting the statute and this is what it says. With a California disabled parking placard or plate, you are entitled to park in any marked disabled parking space (marked with blue curbs or the international wheelchair symbol), in short-term “green curb” spaces for an unlimited time, in spaces designated for residents or merchants, and at metered spaces for free.
