  • The possibilities are endless regarding #tax on road vehicles. Here are FIVE of the “They wouldn’t dare, would they” types.
As BRITS we are highly taxed on #motoring so nothing would surprise me. There are one or two that could easily happen so no tears from anyone!!

Pity they do not fix the roads considering how much money they steal off the motorist 🤬

High time EVs were taxed - the honeymoon and party is long since over, and their environment/green backstory fatally wounded.

They are as from April 2025. But you are wrong on the science about not being cleaner and better than any ICE Car.. go check the latest statistics.

@@KKandEV - thank you - you will see that the latest statistics demonstrate Hydrogen-fuelled ICEs are much cleaner, so, an own goal. You will also see that some manufacturers, such as Toyota, are en route to production of such, and that other manufacturers are too.

That will never happen because of cost. Batteries have never been so cheap and still getting better and cheaper.

@thisiszaphod Toyota are all HYPE. Their media outlet have has story after story out … a different one every month over the last two years and nothing has happened. China will destroy their future with excellent, long range, fast charging EV’s.

As an EV owner I agree with you, we all used the roads. The thing that really lisses me off is how much tax is collected and everyone's vehicles have to drive on roads that look like they've been carpet bombed. Road tax should be ringing fenced to develop and maintain the transport infrastructure not make nuclear weapons and subsidise the oil companies.

I am sick to the back teeth of hearing the word TAX. The minute they mention taxing caravans mine will be sold. We must be the highest taxed nation in the world if you take EVERY tax that's in existence. These governments are a disgrace. High paid men and women who could afford any tax they invent.

Just out of interest my Volkswagen T5 was £310 to tax last year, I have just had my renewal notice and it is now £335. And it is low on emissions. Robbing barstewards.

I’m afraid that it’s because it’s seen as the Anti Christ being a Diesel. I believe it will go to £365 next April… don’t quote me!!

I'll be honest. I'm absolutely loving this. Come on labour! Implement all these taxes. And more! The government that replace them 😂😂😂 wow, guaranteed Net Zero cancellation, back to affordable motoring in ICE vehicles. I'm sure of it.

How can ICE vehicles be affordable at the price of fuel now.. nevermind in 3-5 years as it escalates to heights in prices you have never seen before. Parts are going to escalate in price and look at Service costs even now! They simply are not cheap.

The tyre tax on EVs should be more as they weigh far more meaning the tyres do wear out faster, yep I have 2010 XKR which is rather rubbish on petrol but I do pay £700+ Road Tax but hey-ho, however it does only weigh 1.6 tonnes so the tyres are pretty long lasting if not being silly or worse hit a pot hole with only 300 miles on one (& EV's are heavier... discuss). EV batteries will be the main issue going into the mid-term, unless someone comes up with an environmentally safe way of recycling them we are going into the diesel cycle all over again. Anyway - not EV bashing, have driven a few, not my bag - each to their own.

    • @KKandEV
      @KKandEV  3 місяці тому

As I stated in the post there are heavier cars than some EV’s… by far. It’s not weight , it’s the torque and driving style over an ICE. THe weight of your XKR will match a lot of average / medium sized EV’s or they will only be 100 - 200 kilos heavier… no more than your car having 4 passengers in it. EV batteries do not need recycling in the massive way some said they would. When they do they are going to get recycled as the minerals in them are worth money.

@@KKandEV There are still a lot of unknowns just like when diesel was king & unfortunately some of the problems just move elsewhere, not far from where I live 1000's of people are unhappy about a huge new powerline which is being built due to increased demand on the grid, others complain about the blight of wind farms (I actually rather like them) & yes no doubt they will recycle the batteries but I bet it will be a polluting process.
Like I said in my comment - I did test drive a few EVs - really didn't like it (we have a company scheme so would have been very tax beneficial & a few of my colleagues are going back to ICE as their contracts end) - yes loads of torque but so has a XKR - but with way more smiles! One day I will have to convert & fingers crossed the cars will be nicer than the current Telsa copy cats.

Should all vehicles be paying a road infrastructure fee (tax)?
    The challenge is how much?
    Various scenarios:
Per mile travelled? - Unfair for the smaller efficient, environmentally friendly vehicle. Bug favours the low mileage pensioner.
Per unit quantity of energy used? As a percentage of the fuel or electricity used. This encourages efficient usage. Drive like a madman and pay more!
A tax on the tyres (tires)? The more rubber you smoke, the more you pay. Difficult to manage this as I'm sure there'll be people who avoid replacing the tyres!
The politicians should lead by example. Walk!
As in walk the walk and not talk the talk!

There is nothing so sure as more taxes. Motorists will be an easy pray, but i think rather than the unfair in effect "backdated" EV tax, to bring all EV from past 7 years to start paying is totally wrong. All cars should pay the minimum, no matter what age, but then the real emissions should be used to then work out additional tax per pollution levels.
I find it amazing that people are now taking benefit of lower CO2 levels for tax but now complaining and claiming against manufacturers as the emissions have found to be much higher than quoted. Surely these can be ascertained at MOT emissions test, for cars that need one and when sold initially a test could confirm output.

nz has pay per mile on hydrogen, bio diesel diesels and evs 7 cents per km and 5 cents for a plugin hybrids, petrol is taxed at pump at 70cents per litre, plus there is gst/vat on top, so tax on a tax, heavy vehicles including caravans, rvs, busses, and trailers over 3.5 tonne also also pay road user charge based on weight, these are calculated with a hubdometer fitted to a wheel

Hope you don't mind a couple of comments on the content of this video, (i) EV owners pay £0 VED (changing in 2025), (ii) tax, when it comes to environmental issues, should be viewed as the cost of cleaning up after ourselves (oil into the water course, hydrocarbons & toxins into the atmosphere, etc.) and it currently falls on the general population whether they drive or they don't, taxing vehicle use for environmental damage is a more equitable distribution of the tax burden. (iii) MOTs are a bargain, only the VAT goes back to HMRC, how many other garage activities can you name where you get a mechanic working on your vehicle for 30-40 mins for less than £50? (iv) running a 40+ year old car as a daily is anything but low cost motoring, speak with any classic enthusiast, saving a small amount on VED or insurance is a drop in the ocean, not to mention the effect increased demand would have on market pricing when supply is significantly restricted already would only make that worse. I'm really enjoying the content you're putting out, thanks for taking the time to produce it.

weve got a 2013 dacia sandero 1.5 diesel and it is VED exempt, you are deluded if you think the manufactuer of EVs is better for the planet with their lithium batteries that cannot be properly recycled beyond 20% of their total content, they ra ejust going to end up in landfill because no-one will pay to fit new battery packs to them at 40k and upwards for a new battery pack, its far far cheaper top p[ut a new combustiopn engine in yopur old ICE car than fit a new batter5y to an EV hence why thewre is little interest in the used EV market. oh and some EVs do leak oil from the driveshaf couplings on the side of the gearboxes as they have gear oil.

I do not want to be behind your toxic Sandero exhaust EVER! Show me the smell from the rear of my EV. Hey , thanks for the…. facts?
