Many fly fisherman including myself in the past tend to gear up or pack too many items on their fishing trips.
It obviously depends on how long your trip might be, but if you only fish for a few hours a day on a stretch of water that you know then one can afford to have a minimalistic approach.
In the past I use to overkill when it comes to gear where I only end up being frustrated and tired carrying unnecessary gear.
I minimized my gear to the absolute minimum where I compensate unnecessary gear for freedom of movement and energy.
