Yamaha RBX A2 Funk Jam

First time trying this budget Yamaha bass made in Indonesia, I'm surprised by the tone and powerful pick up although it's a passive bass. It has a nice neck feel and light body!
Custom paint job on the body and fretboard is done by Yosua
The battery is only to power up the LED knob light. The bass belongs to my friend Richard.

I used to work for Yamaha in California. The least expensive instruments also sound good. Yamaha makes good product on all levels, every instrument has some quality. I remember he RBX was considered entry level, but you make it sound more expensive 😎👍

Oh wow do you know Pat the custom luthier there? Yeah some latest series are made in Indonesia, they are worth it with the price, compared to my Japanese Yamaha, they still make me happy, including this RBX! Thank you!

@@RamaNatan I’m familiar with him but I haven’t worked for them for many years. I’m sure they have many more good products. My favorite used to be the Nathan East signature bass and John Pattetucci signature model. “TRB JP”

I love my RBX but have found it to be super sensitive to stage lights that are on a dimmer switch. Sometimes even the lights in my house. Do you all have issues with that as well? I am using a Boss NS 2 noise suppression pedal before I think about take the access cover off the back to troubleshoot.

It's typical of all single coil pups, its a jazz bass configuration afterall. If you have both volumes maximum or set the same, it will cancel out. 😎
