I had a student who was allergic to water. It was so hard-he couldn’t do PE and had to take the elevator upstairs to class because if he started to sweat he would break out in painful hives. Super nice kid and really smart. Just the worst allergy…
I’m not allergic to water, but I’m allergic to the chemicals they use to clean the water. At least down here. If I shower in unsoftened water for to long my skin will dry out and start to get hives, mainly on my chest, and that’s especially where it starts, the back of my knees also feel like my skin is super dry and tight. Also if me or my siblings and mom drink unfiltered water or for my siblings non spring water we get head aches that can last for days on end, even if we only drink a cup of it. Sometimes we get a fever to but I don’t drink unfiltered water enough to remember if we do often lol 😂
My brother had it when he was younger. It was insane for gym class when we had to swim and they needed to always check the temperature of the water to see if he could go in it or not. They did tests with an ice pack and his arm would have huge hives. Thankfully he grew out of it when he turned 15
I’m kinda of the opposite, in addition to my dozens x100 food, animal, pollens, medicatios allergies I have to shower twice per day to stop breaking out in hives.
I remember stumbling across this when i was looking at info on Urticaria in my very early 20s. I was dealing with continuous bouts of hives all over my body. And for 3 years, i felt like crap. We got a biopsy, it came back urticaria, doc said what i should be taking but i was too stubborn to do that til i was at my then partner's place and finally took the Allegra. I have been on that since then and i couldn't be happier.
mg how awful for ppl. Side: Antihistamines can help a migraine too. They say more often than not ppl think they have a sinus headache but it’s really a migraine where the trimenegal nerve branch around eye socket: nasal cavity is hyperactive.
My pleasure. Learned this at the Migraine World Summit in 2023. De Michael Teixido who’s an neuroOtologist specializes in migraines and ear balance disorders 😊 Migraine has so many manifestations, some even get it in neck thinking they need a chiropractor, some in ear, some get dizziness vertigo, some eye socket or nasal cavity. Migraine affect teigwminal nerve which has three branches :)
I have a similar situation. Almost sure I have aquagenic pruritus. No hives, just intense itching for between 20 mins and 2 hours. There are ways I can mitigate it, but nothing definitive, even sweating can trigger it. Ironically, if I take a warm/hot shower it seems to suppress my symptoms/trigger for about 24 hours. Someday I'd like to see an allergist about it, but haven't yet. I also have urticaria dermatographia - from talking to my parents, the former is from my paternal side, the latter from my maternal line.
That’s how my skin is. It doesn’t seem to bother me when the pool has a warmer, but baby when the water is cold, I start breaking out and can’t stop scratching after a few minutes in the water. This just started happening to me like 2-3 years ago. I’m 30 now. It happens for really cold water and cold air for me now. I have eczema too, so sometimes I wonder if there’s any correlation
im allergic to water, but i only get allergic reactions very rarely, unlike the other day as i was washing my face. Next morning my eye was red, watering and very swollen.
I developed cold urticaria out of absolutely nowhere when I turned 20 years old. It’s so bad that getting out of the shower or a cool breeze give me terrible itching hives. I’m in Canada, so winter is genuinely suffrage for me. In the winter as soon as I get home, I take a “sharp kitchen object” (censored cuz UA-cam is sensitive) and scrape my skin extremely hard.
Wowza! I can’t wrap my brain around a water allergy- our bodies have so much water, how do people with a water allergy survive? Do their bodies not react to the water in the body/on a cellular level or when drinking fluids?
This condition only affects the skin, not the inside of the body. However, in some cases, people can be allergic to their own tears or sweat once it makes contact with the skin.
I'm relieved it's not one that appears in adulthood, the onset must be horrible

A shower filter made a huge difference for me. I think it was the chloramines used to disinfect, giving me hives. Found it on Amazon.

also, not just what cleans the water...what else is...... there. I realized it was the arsenic for me
@@Jennifer-gr7hn oof- yea- luckily I don’t think that’s in my water supply especially with the pipes but could potentially be lead

Interesting! Thank you for sharing

Since water is in most drinks, if thet get discomfort when drinking water, would it hapoen with other things as well?

I had that when I was young. I haven’t had any problems with it since I was about 25.
Please talk about wheat crossallergy (actually due to millet????) after being a bird owner - is that a thing?
Wait, what's this about? Do you have any info to share about this?
My ex used to have minor hives on his back any time he showered, swam, etc. they didn’t seem to bother him and they always went away pretty quickly

oh naur Cleaur, the condensation
On a really note that would be absolutely insane to live with.

Im allergic to the cold, i xant even eat popsicles without having my mouth go numb and i get hives all over the skin thats exposed to cold
try reverse osmosis.....
It is the actual water, not anything in it. People with this condition can also be allergic to their own sweat or tears.
I just like to know why water upset my tummy and gives me indigestion and reflux.😢
Your so cute lol
That would be a hard condition to have
My grandma was one of the 100 she took shots everyday
Is my uncle really allergic to the sun, or is he just sayin that?
It is a real thing!
is it the water? Or is it the chemicals & ^%$#^& in the water?

I'm allergic to the sun... Just saying
Can't imagine why that would be inconvenient
