This song is how an optimist feels when they mourn. This song brings back very strong feelings of pain and loss but also leaves room for hope that you will survive and thrive in the future. It is the best way to describe how it feels "when life gut punches you hard but you're still standing" to someone who hasn't experienced it. This is how I felt when I watched them bury my mother when I was a young teenager. This is how I felt when my 2 year old child needed open heart surgery. This is how I felt when I found out my wife and I will never have any more children. The pain this song conveys touches deeply my soul, and still leaves room for my unwaivering optimism.

Whenever I feel like my life is falling apart I listen to this song. I know that the lyrics are a lie and not everything turns out to be okay in the end but it gives me a certain sense of help that I can't find in any other song. Some days I'm happy other days I'm having a mental breakdown. On the bad days I have a certain playlist that I use to calm myself down when I get home from school. This song has been on here since the beginning and honestly I think it's a blessing that this song exists. I know no ones Goanna read this but for the people that do. I hope you have a good day

Truth is we can continue going through this crap storm called life, or let every bad thing crush us. @@cfy666 Well for me, I was a total drug addict and a loser. I went to a detox, got clean and realized all my anxiety issues stemmed from a psyche issue caused by years of drug abuse. I'm a year clean now and no long have panic attacks.
my friend and I used to listen to this song all the time a couple years ago. he passed a way a year ago and this song really helped me get through it just fine. It reminded me that no matter what happens to him or me or anyone, we will "float on alright" in the end.

Life is a mystery we lose people gain people all through life its beautiful in its own I know i have lost Alotta friends and it happens I feel your pain .
When I was younger, my father and mother were going through a divorce. They would keep this a secret between them and myself until they both decided they were ready to tell me. Before that day though, I would occasionally catch my father crying alone in his room with this song on from time to time. Being younger and all, I did not fully understand what was going on at the time and why he would be crying. I realized he was trying to find a reason to float on in those lonely nights. I can't relate to the sadness going on in the comments here the same way... I went through one of the roughest few months recently. My mom got separated from my family, my cat who's been my best friend and family through all my childhood had to be put down, and one of my best friends and love has been ignoring me for the past two months... But this song just reminds me of the fact that I am okay and will continue to be. I know that. Just wanted to share some hope guys... God bless

Listening to this repeatedly while I'm living out of a van with my husband and dog. We have a full size air bed in the back, plenty of food hanging from the ceiling and underneath the floor, a storage unit nearby with supplies, and two camping chairs to sit beside the van with, along with a folding table to sit between us. We park by the rivers in the day and the dog has a blanket that we lay out with her food, water, toys, and treats on it. We attach her leash to the van, we sit our chairs and table out, and then we float on.

It's funny because, that's literally (and obviously) what it is. Sampling means that the producer recorded the tune from the beginning and played it as a loop, building Lupe's track around it. He sped it up a bit because "the show goes on" is a much more high energy track.
If it sounds similar you should check your hearing. Because it's not similar. IT IS IDENTICAL

I have anxiety and i felt and still feel a little bit depressed and i feel like a disappointment to my parents and im used to being blamed for things all the time and i had suicidal thoughts, until i met my girlfriend who eventually told me all the things that made her depressed which were very similar to what i was depressed over and she told me she was suicidal but she said she was able to get through it all. I thought that if she can get through those things then so can i and im convinced i didnt meet her on accident, im glad she exists and is someone that makes me happy and i remind myself of that every day. This song describes this perfectly im glad it exists and is one of my favorites.

This song just nakes tear up. I sang this on guitar hero with the crew of the Bounty Ship. They were playing the instruments. The ship went down in Super Storm Sandy right after they left long Island and headed down the east coast. My daughter was on that ship but I had picked her up and she was saying her farewells to her ship mates. She wasn't on it when it went down . A new sailor, Claudine Christensen and The Captain were lost at sea. The captain was never found. I used this song like a prayer while they were searching for the crew. Most made it back alive but it was only because the coast guard were like guardian angels flying into the storm to find them. Thank you to all our heroic people. God bless you.

This song use to come on either before or after Keanes Somewhere only we know on VH1 back in 2005. I loved this song and the weird music video. Then in 2008 I got really heavy into this band. Isaac Brock is a lyrical genius and the band members, as they come and go, are all amazing. Don't stop your Modest Mouse listening here. I can seriously give you all like 50 hits to check out.
