Hey bro. love your content. follower for years. listen the Hatsan 95 25 cal on pyramid air is currentlt 99.oo bucks, thats a steal. spread the word. if you get a chance get the gamo hunteretreme
You should probably go with that feeling. I made a short spear using an old kitchen knife, a sturdy beechwood pole and twine with epoxy to bind the construction. It is not just a wall hanger or training weapon: my wife and I use it regularly for slashing in the garden or out in the woods. It was a case of making the spear for fun, then finding out I have use for it. So even if you only get a spear out of interest, it could well come in handy some day :D
Nice video! I've got the Shinwa black knight wakizashi. Always been happy with it despite all those Shinwa critics out there. Never saw this item before. Is it brand new on ye'olde BudK catalog?
I think it is new, I just happened upon it on Amazon and had never heard about it before, but I like that the spearhead is over a foot long, most spears on there don't have as much edge length. I have the Shinwa Odachi from back in the day.
The wood of the handle seems pretty light, the handle is basically the same wood as their katana sayas or sheaths. I think it could hunt small hogs though, just not real big ones. The guard is zinc alloy, not as hard as steel, but basically what modern pennies are made of.
Agreed with Jory, this is based on a yari not a katana. Mine was a severe disappointment because the tip curled up considerably the first week I had it and I had to take an angle grinder to it to reprofile. I ended up cutting the blade off the shaft to make a kind of tinbe-rochin.
Thank you for this review. I have one; closest thing to an actual yari that I can afford. I like the look and the way it handles. Haven't done any cutting yet so I appreciate your pineapple demonstration. Happy New Year.
good work!! yr hero of the day!! keep fit, be ready, keep preping mind body and spirit.. I've made it out by the way. from 1.3 million in 900 sq miles down to 40,000 in 800 sq miles.. being away from populations is the way to be.
For sure. I don't live in a big city, but the suburbs are pretty annoying place to live, and then we have small towns and some farms, about 50 miles out, ranches, feed stores, cows LOL.
I just assumed that people understand a Bud K item is basically a deadly toy whose best use is to have fun with it. From your comment, I get that you are kind of hoping this spear could be proven the equal of a lot more expensive spears, but realistically I don't think it would.
Shorter spears are for closer work such as -"A Zulu spear, specifically called an "iklwa", is typically around 2 feet long for the shaft with a broad blade that can be up to a foot long, making the total length of the weapon roughly 3 feet long; this design was popularized by Shaka Zulu for close-quarters combat."

@@cjlee3310 - Awesome, will definitely check it out.
Always felt like a spear was something I probably needed
It's a right of passage... Welcome to man hood, we meet at fire in 2 moons and grunt
You should probably go with that feeling.

I approve of spear related content 👍
Excellent, I got a short spear from Etsy coming up.
/// I 2nd that 🎉
Welcome back...looks like a fun tool.
Thanks, bro, hope you had a great Holidays!
Thanks for your demonstration.
Very cool.
Glad you're back and doing videos again. This product is not quite my jam but that's because I'm a jelly kind of guy😅
niceeeeee might need to add this one to my large weapon collection
Excellent. And anyone who collects weapons is at the right place here!
Looks great 👍
Cool spear. Happy new year my friend. Greetings from Norway 😃
Thank ya, bro!
It all depends on the heat treatment. I love the spear idea. The speed that you can move that blade is scary!
Excellent spear, bro!
Glad you like, bro! Happy New Year!
@@WeAllJuggleKnives Thank you, bro! Have you tried slingshot darts?
@@slingshotwarrrior8105 - I haven't tried those
@WeAllJuggleKnives I think you'd like them! Pana darts were invented in the Philippines.
Oooooo I like it!
I'm glad, thanks for watching!
Looks like a good weapon for longer range work! Happy new year!
Scary and Cool.
Nice demo. I've always felt kinda iffy about their spears.
Thats one scary weapon!
Yes! Another spear!
Happy new year brother!
Awesome rig
I'm have to get one
Glad you like!
Happy new spear, Israel! xD
Thanks, well done!
Happy new year brother, I hope I can get one of Thease in the uk , and a good naginata ❤
Oh yeah. That’s what I’m talking about. On my list.👍
Very nice
King of weapons. ✌️🙏

@@WeAllJuggleKnives Nice. I've thought about picking one of those up just for the novelty of it. Do you have a review video of the Odachi?
@@andyappleton3353 - I had a video, but it was so long ago I removed it and decided to make a new video for it soon.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives Looking forward to it man!
And here I am, I've made a New Years Resolution, not to buy any knives this year. But I might have to add this spear to my collection :)
Can it be used for hunting? You think the guard would hold up if spearing a big hog or any other large animal?
The wood of the handle seems pretty light, the handle is basically the same wood as their katana sayas or sheaths. I think it could hunt small hogs though, just not real big ones. The guard is zinc alloy, not as hard as steel, but basically what modern pennies are made of.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives Ok, maybe rabbits then...

Yep, I need a Katana, and it would be foolish not to get a spear at the same time,,, 😂😂👍
Get both, it's faster to switch to your side katana than to reload

Awesome, I'm glad you got one. Yeah the Hanwei version is $650, so I also concluded the Shinwa is fine for my needs!
You have a great channel. Thanks for all the fun!
Thank you for your support!

why did they make the base of the spear head concave? that can become a serious weak point in use
That part is thick.
Not a fan of Shinwa but id like it if it was a different brand
Hanwei Paul Chen does make one like this, but theirs is about $650.
that pineapple is definitely dead, cool video man
Dangerous weapon
great review!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
So...is this recommended video going to be what starts my interest in spears?
Hopefully! It's quite a rabbit hole!
What is that haft made from? How easily do you feel you could replace it if it broke?
The shaft is wood that is covered with plastic, it's like their sword sayas, but longer.
Nice!
Would love to see a torture/ destruction test on this
I just assumed that people understand a Bud K item is basically a deadly toy whose best use is to have fun with it. From your comment, I get that you are kind of hoping this spear could be proven the equal of a lot more expensive spears, but realistically I don't think it would.
Wowzers
😮
very cool but I'd have to see a durability test before considering buying
I think the shaft is a little light, they used the same wood as they use on their sayas.
They aren't durable at all. The tip of mine curled almost immediately and had to be ground down considerably
I like the look but a spear should always be at least 72” OL at a minimum. 84” is even better for a spear.
I want one.
Stick with knife attached, good.
LOL for sure! At first, they tried attaching a stick to another stick, no good!
It's historically called a yari... And the shinwa brand really sucks!
