There is also respite care. Look into that. 💕 especially with teens, they are sometimes looking for those who can simply give them a ride to appointments and be a safe person.
I was adopted when I was three years old and was in the system for 3 years. I am 24 years old now and want to let you know that you are not alone. My birth parents divorced and my dad abused me and they abandoned me on the street as a baby. I came into the hospital blue and very sick. I am so thankful that this story has finally been told about the American adoption system. This movie gave me so many flashbacks to my birth parents from the little that I can remember. I cried throughout the entire movie. I still live with some major anxiety over being adopted and hope that one day it will all be healed up. All of this is to say that I am so grateful that this movie has come out and spread the light to help give awareness about adoption in the United States. This movie still has me crying 😭. I am so thankful though to have seen the movie.
This was a great review! I saw it yesterday and it was refreshing to see a well acted and written film that had a meaningful message of love. It models what true familiar love is all about without glossing over the difficult and ugly moments of life. Well done. ❤
You are right on target with this review! The scene that includes the gun - I didn't realize until you said it -is not shown with gore that overshadows your imagination - I still cringe when I hear the shots, and I know what's coming! This movie is truly amazing! Watch it with caution if you have past trauma - but spoiler...You meet the real families in Possum Trot at the end. God never promised this would be easy, just that he would be with us.
i live about 20 minutes from Possum Trot. Its a place thats always been known for drugs. Im very happy to hear good things from there also. I had no idea any of this even happened. I cant wait to see the movie.
