There are shops in the UK that fix dents in vehicles, some of them have YT channels. Why don't you see if the can get the ends out of your engine cover, cover?
Better Help = NO. They were found to be sharing data they had said would be kept private with major advertising platforms, including Facebook, Snapchat, Criteo, and Pinterest by the FTC in the US. Please research companies before shilling for them. Better Help are a bad company.
Should have wet painted the covers. Powder coaters will shot blast them which creates heat and distortion. Wet paint gives you the option to fill any dents and dings, and is simpler to repair in the future too.
Agreed 100%. Powder coating is great in some situations, but most of the time, paint looks much better and can be close to just as durable if done correctly.
Can't believe it's 2 years since this started. Any other you tuber would have bored me to death by now but you are kicking it. Good luck will be following every update as usual.
Scott, this easily remains my favourite video series on UA-cam. I've praised your dedication, skill, knowledge and expertise many times before, but it's so worth repeating. You really do amaze me with what you manage to achieve, and the end results are sooooo worth it! This build is inspirational to me. The BBi was always a stunner, but I have no doubts whatsoever that this particular one will be absolutely perfect when it's finished. Will it be on the road by the spring? Of course it will. Your work ethic is phenomenal and the deserved results will follow. I'm sorry that Owen has left, however I really hope you can find another trusted helper if you feel you need one. I only wish I lived nearer to you or I would be volunteering myself. Please keep your chin up, and please keep up the good work. Your fans adore you 🙂
I’ve totally fallen in love with the BBI now, keep up the good work and hope to one day see it in the flesh and would love a ride in any of your Ferraris 👊💙
Hard to explain how much I appreciate your painstaking rebuild of this classic. Love the part where you show how the guys in Maranello beat on the panels to shape them. It unreal in this day and age. Thanks for the channel. Can't wait for the next one in the series. Spring 2024? You got this!
When I saw the car I realized it would be a lot of work. But when I saw boxes and boxes of spare parts I thought it would never be finished. 😂 However, when I saw the video in which you assembled the car's CV joints and the driveshafts, I thought "I think he knew what he was doing from the beginning." Congratulations!
I'm an ex sheet metal worker, I don't have the equipment plus I'm in Australia, but I would suggest that you find a sheet metal workshop that specialises in office furniture. Those vents are pretty much the same stuff on a locker door. Though you might not get exactly the original pattern as it's dependent on what dies they have. The rest of the sheet can be easily bent.
Scott, I’m here to tell you how glad I am that you do this. You were the first UA-camr I proudly followed. I bought your swag shirts and sweaters for myself and my kids. The work you do and have done is unbelievable to me. I am not a diy car guy. I respect and am inspired by all that you do and have done. I’m here to say, if you don’t do another thing to the BBi or any of your cars, I would never think less of you at all. You have done more for Ferrari than any person on this planet as far as I’m concerned. You are an inspiration and I’m lucky to have been able to watch these videos. Keep going, stop and change gears, or anything else, you are great and we’re lucky to be here with you. Thanks Michael K, Boston
Coming together Scott. Get yourself to a local industrial estate which has a powder coaters/blasters etc. and have them do your stuff, they can put it in with their other work and takes days. For the black paint I’d just use vinyl wrap. For those tin covers they are cheaply made in the first place and will show every mark. Have someone make your something out of carbon or sheet metal. I’m on my second Landrover restoration and trying to keep everything original doesn’t always make sense, upgrades can look and operate better in some cases. Keep up the good work!
I have been watching the project since the beginning. I can’t believe how beautiful she is looking! You are doing an amazing job!!! Perfection doesn’t happen overnight. Thank you for sharing this journey from forgotten to fabulous with us. You will definitely have her back on the road by your spring deadline!
Genuine congratulations for keeping the momentum Scott, this project definitely will have given you moments of “can’t keep on track” or “let’s start another project” but here you are, finish line not quite in sight but also not far. Keep going fella!
Unbelievable that it's been 2 years! It seems to have gone bye so quickly. I'm totally invested in this build and super excited to see what's going on with the powertrain. You've come so far and I believe the only holdup for you would be the powertrain. If that's not an issue, you'll definitely be driving it in the spring of 2024. GL and I'll be watching.
I have 100% faith you’ll have the BBI on the road by spring so long as you can work on it thru the winter. You’re already so far!!! As long as you don’t make perfection the enemy of progress. For the engine covers it would have been pretty easy to cast them out of carbon fiber and I think that would have been a quick fix that would have made a fantastic “look”
Dear Scott, hope you are doing well. You are an absolute inspiration to so many people - in the beginning I thought this will take ages, but you are already close to enter the final stage. What a great result. I am looking forward hearing the first screams from the Italian masterpiece. Keep rocking buddy👍😎❤. o7Ulf
Nice progress Scott. On the engine covers, if you really want to powder coat them, I’ve had great results using JB WELD as a filler, then using polyester powder coat primer as a sandable primer to get rid of the jb welds feather edges that usually up after baking, then a final powder coat in the satin black. Prob been mentioned already, and I’m betting you and others already know this, but thought I’d throw it out there. Good luck!
This build has come a long way, and the result so far is amazing! It's good to have a deadline to strive for, just don't tie yourself up to it. Let the quality of your work come first. I am positive that most viewers don't really care when it's finished, we all want to see it done right. And I do like these episodes so I wouldn't mind a few extra. 😂 Keep it up Scott, you are doing great!
I’ve been watching since the start and only today realised I wasn’t subscribed! Love this build. So satisfying watching you get every nut and bolt perfect. Well done mate
Great progress Scott, well done! Those engine bay side pieces don't look that bad, just a bit of shaping, they have original character, I would keep them...
It's been amazing watching this build since the start. It seemed so daunting at first in the state it was in but you've done an amazing job keeping it going and it's so nearly there! Congratulations mate you deserve top respect for rescuing this stunning car!
Having been 2 years into a project myself it’s definitely hard to get motivated but my car recently passed its first mot in 10 years and what a feeling, keep it up it will be worth it 👍
For the exhaust a good shop should be able to remake the headers fairly easily since they're in good enough shape to use as a pattern. I'd get it all ceramic coated when ready to go back in. They can do it in light silver that will look close to stock.
No better car channel. With my age and taste in cars, when finished there will be no restored car I'd adore as much on youtube. Full marks Scott. Knowledgeable and, patient. Hugely engaging to watch.
Talk to gentleman Iain Tyrrell about doing a joint effort on the engine. Maybe a co-operation where you do the work and Iain's team guide you through it? Would be beneficial for both channels!
That sheet metal will be easy for any sheet metal fabricator. Those vents are called Stamped Louvres, the rest is just done on a bending machine and drill.
You’re doing a fantastic job and it’s looking amazing so far. I like that no matter how many hurdles this car throws in front of you you keep going. It’s going to be so worth it when it’s finally done.
Brilliant work, Scott. fantastic attention to detail - don't forget - you have a huge community wishing you well and knowing you can achieve your 2024 goal with this project 👍👍🙏🙏
You can absolutely get that car done in the spring! I have enjoyed every video and can’t wait for the next! I am building a much less fancy car to yours. It’s an old ‘74 Porsche 914 with a great story behind it. I’ll spare you the details, but it was actually owned by my dear old Auntie many years ago, so it’s gonna stay in the family. Until the next video keep spinning wrenches!
I have been watching your build with interest, I am also rebuilding a 512bb and a couple of area's where I got caught out, firstly the alloy coolant tubes that run through the centre tube of the car, mine looked solid, however, when I ran the car up for the first time, I found a very small amount of water coming from the chassis tube they sit in, to replace those pipes is an engine out job, and new pipes are available at £237 each!!!! Second issue, my exhaust manifolds were a bit of a mess and like yours had been repaired, I bought new ones that were fabricated in the UK (I am in Spain), they looked fantastic and fit without an issue, however after the car had run for maybe a couple of hours still in my garage, smoke started coming from the right side of the motor, I shut in down and could see where the problem was, the pipes on the right rear manifold loop round the drive shaft and it had melted the new driveshaft boot and the grease had run onto the pipes below, on inspection, I noted that the heat shields that fit on the rear manifolds were not there, I am in the process of looking for some heat resistant boots - maybe silicone or GKN Aerodynamic, I am also going to fabricate some heat shields and fit heat tape to the offending pipes just to be on the safe side. I think even the factory original items are questionable, an owner posted on Ferrari chat that his 512 set on fire due to grease leaking from the c/v joint, I hope you find this helpful.
You should get the exhaust cleaned up and tidy up the bodgy repairs then get them all ceramic coated silver or black to match factory colours. Will protect against heat and corrosion in future
You can do it mate! Keep on keeping on!!! It's been a brilliant series so far and it's amazing how you've done so much of this on your driveway and in your garage👏Looking forward to the next instalment💪
Ceramic coating on some of the exhaust parts would do very well! Increased life and lower temps. I agree with other comments regarding the powder coating. They should be sprayed 🤘 Well done with the project 👍
The BBI is starting to look really sharp Scott 👌🏻. You are doing a great job 💥. Would love to see and hear a nice period correct aftermarket exhaust, to wake up the flat 12 a bit❤.
The closer this gets to completion, the more £££ in value I see. Having watched other car restorations, I can't see any real discernable difference in quality. Good job to the community as well for catching things along the way to help keep the build as close to original as possible.
I would recommend Microkerf in Leicester - they would need a typically DXF file of the flat pattern to laser cut and fold - I am not sure if they could do the forming on the louvres, I think specialised tooling is typically used for this, but I suspect a skilled panel beater could do this by eye; and possibly sort out the dents in your engine cover....
Epic 2 years and a tons of work ! The finish line is just in front of you Bud, keep on going, we're all behind you ! Can't wait to see the last sprint and you riding that prancing horse 🤠
You are doing amazing mate! You give me motivation to jump down in the garage tonight to keep minting my 92 corvette zr-1 out! You are inspiration mate! Can not belive is 2 years since the clean video. Wow time flys
Loving your series on this car Scott! I had a 512BB (carb, red with tan & black Daytona seats) from 2000 to 2005. Sure should have kept that car! It was $70K US back then. You're going to love driving this beast once it's done...fabulous car, did 2 track days with it. Now, I've got a 360 coupe (6 speed manual) and a 1950 Bentley Mark VI. FYI, I'm sure you've already tackled this, but in the video where you're talking about the tough time getting the brake booster in there, it looks like the bolt on the far right isn't tightened yet.
For those sheet metal parts, I wonder if it would be possible to 3d print forms for them and either see if the existing pieces might be salvageable or if those forms could be used to just stamp some new parts. There are a number of videos on using 3d prints as metal forms for small-scale parts so the question is if that could scale to these larger parts and be done affordably.
Your car is becoming an absolute work of art. Congratulations! It's beautiful! I'll be watching you get it on the road by spring of 2024. I intend to hold you to your word. 🙂
Much as I love this series and the dedication. I always find myself at odds with the process and preparation (these covers an example).. It always gives the impression of being very haphazard. It's a rare and valuable car, and whilst I appreciate the idea of working in the street and DIY some of the decisions seem at odds with repairing what is a valuable car. Even if it was actually in a garage it might help the impression 😁
scott your videos are amazing and i look forward to each one that you put out. idk if ill ever afford to own my own ferrari but if not i am living vicariously through you. thank you sir! i think you britts say cheers :D so cheers mate!
13:28 you could also have the area wrapped black. would be reversible and wouldn't have to worry about overspray even if you sacrifice a little bit of originality
I know I'm in the minority here, but this car - and the build - didn't excite me too much at the start. But each and every time I see it, it just gets even more iconic. Fabulous job, Scott. ❤
Keep up the awesome videos. THIS car is that got me started watching you and is the reason I have kept on watching you! YOU CAN DO IT!!! After this I'm looking forward to the F40 you keep teasing!!!
As a boy, my ultimate dream was to work in the Ferrari factory… I take that back … the mechanics looks like a nightmare! Spring would be quite an achievement, we keep our fingers crossed.
Scott ,i like the way you did the "out run "outro. You even got the girl next to you looking back and waving, just like in the original game. Please keep this outro mate !😎 Greetings from Holland

Why not make custom carbon fiber rear covers?
There are shops in the UK that fix dents in vehicles, some of them have YT channels. Why don't you see if the can get the ends out of your engine cover, cover?
‘Send cut Send’ for those panels you need custom made.
Agreed. Easiest and best way to make sure they are perfect.
Absolutely. Power coating will never give a perfect exterior finish and is not workable in the future.
Agreed 100%. Powder coating is great in some situations, but most of the time, paint looks much better and can be close to just as durable if done correctly.
Couldn’t agree more. Powder coat will also dull over time.
Yes no doubt about it
Hang in there, and this is going to possibly be the best 512 BBI in existence. Amazing work
Iv got a black one in storage restored by Ferrari in Italy with 212 original miles from new . Can’t get better than that I doubt, and it’s UK RHD
Yeah many of these cars have been professional restored
Can't believe it's 2 years since this started. Any other you tuber would have bored me to death by now but you are kicking it. Good luck will be following every update as usual.
Time flies when you're having fun !

Thank you very much!
This is an uber rare care that you are restoring in your home garage mostly. Incredible. Chapeau Sir.
Don’t powder coat, that item should be painted to get the quality needed, imo. Restore it, is a great channel, excellent painter….collaboration ?? 👍
I used to work for Ripley Engineering sheet metal working in Basingstoke and regularly made parts like this. Might be an option
Yeah that’s what I’d go for if it were me.
Bit late but good idea.
Loving this BBI rebuild!

You can do it! One of the most amazing and ambitious builds on UA-cam! Will be so worth it
Thank you so much!!
Good progress with the bbi. I can just imagine the engine revving when finshed. Keep up the resto Scott!
thanks buddy

+1 on the vinyl wrap advice
Cant believe its been 2 years! Great to see so much progress ❤
I know!!

Thanks buddy 🤪
Ciro in da house 👊
Thanks
Dear Scott, hope you are doing well. You are an absolute inspiration to so many people - in the beginning I thought this will take ages, but you are already close to enter the final stage. What a great result. I am looking forward hearing the first screams from the Italian masterpiece. Keep rocking buddy👍😎❤. o7Ulf
Wow, thank you!
Been looking forward to this all week!! ❤
The restoration looks great Scott. Keeping the original colour is a master stroke, 🎉the finish even before final polish looks amazing.
Thanks 👍
Nice progress Scott. On the engine covers, if you really want to powder coat them, I’ve had great results using JB WELD as a filler, then using polyester powder coat primer as a sandable primer to get rid of the jb welds feather edges that usually up after baking, then a final powder coat in the satin black. Prob been mentioned already, and I’m betting you and others already know this, but thought I’d throw it out there. Good luck!

Spring won't be a problem if you keep up this level of work. An amazing job so far.
I’ve been watching since the start and only today realised I wasn’t subscribed! Love this build. So satisfying watching you get every nut and bolt perfect. Well done mate
Thanks for subbing!
Good work is hard so the effort so far is matching what you said. Really looking great and can't wait to see the car on the road in spring.
Thanks 👍
Big buck car when finished - congrates Scott. Your perseveance and resilience is paying off. Well done
Thanks buddy
Great progress Scott, well done! Those engine bay side pieces don't look that bad, just a bit of shaping, they have original character, I would keep them...
I can't wait to see this finished at a show. The chance to see it in the metal really is a once in a lifetime moment!
A f40 video in my life would be the best therapy for me🎉
It incoming ..... You'll have so much F40 content soon
You got this. What you have done has been creative and inspiring. Keep up the great work!!
It's been amazing watching this build since the start. It seemed so daunting at first in the state it was in but you've done an amazing job keeping it going and it's so nearly there! Congratulations mate you deserve top respect for rescuing this stunning car!
Every now and then I catch your video's on the progress of this build and I am always impressed! good job!
Awesome! Thank you!
Or get them done in stainless steel - expensive but well worth the extra cost.
He wouldn't attach his name to this rattle can special
@@Beauloqs Think Scott is doing his very best not to make this a rattle can restoration. But still agree with you.
That sheet metal will be easy for any sheet metal fabricator. Those vents are called Stamped Louvres, the rest is just done on a bending machine and drill.
Starting to look mint now can't wait for the finishing shots
thanks buddy
All I can say is how good it’s looking. Just keep doing it. I love that you’re keeping it as OEM as possible.
👌
You’re doing a fantastic job and it’s looking amazing so far. I like that no matter how many hurdles this car throws in front of you you keep going. It’s going to be so worth it when it’s finally done.
Brilliant work, Scott. fantastic attention to detail - don't forget - you have a huge community wishing you well and knowing you can achieve your 2024 goal with this project 👍👍🙏🙏
I so love the white paint. Looks beautiful.
Been watching since you bought it Scott. Super impressed with how you’re rebuilding it. Keep it up!
Thanks so much
Scott, car when you put bonnet down. Wow. Stunning shape. Pure class. Good luck and get to finish line.
Springtime is definitely achievable with all the great support you get from the car community. The beautiful BBi will be beautiful again!
When this thing goes to auction, you will be justifiably proud when it brings all the money. Keep it going ! You're nearly there !
I'm not sure where you are based but if you can get to Kent then I highly recommend CSP Shotblasting & Powdercoating for future powercoating.
This is a holy mission! Keep the faith! Once you have finished, it will all be worth it!

Thanks so much for this, extremely helpful .... i will for sure now inspect some of those items
Keep up the amazing and inspirational work Scott. Have been following the BBi restoration with great interest.
You should get the exhaust cleaned up and tidy up the bodgy repairs then get them all ceramic coated silver or black to match factory colours. Will protect against heat and corrosion in future
That is the plan
I really love this build cant wait until we hear it rip up the road
You can do it mate! Keep on keeping on!!! It's been a brilliant series so far and it's amazing how you've done so much of this on your driveway and in your garage👏Looking forward to the next instalment💪
I live for this kind of content! Thank you and please keep it up! I don't know how you do any of this without losing your mind, so BetterHelp indeed.
fabulous video as ever, great to see it continually change, give me a shout re the engine heat shields, i can get them sorted
Its looking the Bollocks, nice and steady no rush at this stage .
The closer this gets to completion, the more £££ in value I see. Having watched other car restorations, I can't see any real discernable difference in quality. Good job to the community as well for catching things along the way to help keep the build as close to original as possible.
On the silencers, I suggest fine steel wool with Autosol. Should come up a treat. Keep em coming with the BBi content
One of my fav video playlists the BBI - thanks.
Epic 2 years and a tons of work ! The finish line is just in front of you Bud, keep on going, we're all behind you ! Can't wait to see the last sprint and you riding that prancing horse 🤠
Great program. Very much enjoy watching the progress
You are doing amazing mate! You give me motivation to jump down in the garage tonight to keep minting my 92 corvette zr-1 out! You are inspiration mate! Can not belive is 2 years since the clean video. Wow time flys
Thanks buddy that really means a lot
@Ratarossa ❤️ ps. If you do not finish it before spring, I will send Elton on your door and he will get those glasses back 🤣
Loving your series on this car Scott!
Hang in there. This is an incredibly special car and you are doing an amazing job Scott. A spring cruise in the bbi sounds just about right.
I"m surprised one of the aftermarket companies hasn't offered you a deal on an exhaust system. The V12 deserves a proper soundtrack!
Cheers from across the pond in Canada! Love these videos!
this is genuinely a great series to follow -- look forward to each installment -- !
you definitely can get this done for spring. Go for it!
Looks great. I think spring 2024 is possible. Maybe not March, but you have until May.
Look forward to the next one❤❤Forza Ferrari❤❤
What a car for a spring time blast. Keep up the good work
Your car is becoming an absolute work of art. Congratulations! It's beautiful! I'll be watching you get it on the road by spring of 2024. I intend to hold you to your word. 🙂
Loving this restoration 👍
Fantastic rebuild, very impresive.
11:21 with your exhaust give Redhill Classics a call.
They make custom exhausts to a very high standard and at a price that’s affordable 👍
Poor Ratarossa it has become a work bench. Owen, bon voyage mate, no better time to see the world.
Excellent, thanks 🎉🎉
Tyry the guys at Yorkshire Car Restoration for that panel. They have a really great UA-cam channel too.
Perfect i will contact them
They're great.
This is going to be so lovely once it's done Scott!
Well done! Really enjoy this series, and hope you achieve your 2024 goal to finish it!🤞👍
Much as I love this series and the dedication.
Looking better and better with every video. The end is in sight!
Keep up the awesome videos. THIS car is that got me started watching you and is the reason I have kept on watching you! YOU CAN DO IT!!! After this I'm looking forward to the F40 you keep teasing!!!
10:27 Top left of screen. Face in the exhaust!
Please keep this outro mate !😎
Greetings from Holland
