I went home ... never "to home"
You can say:
They came TO my HOUSE.
But with HOME... no preposition.
I have to go home.
I will go home.

Este video es para los que recién están aprendiendo el pasado en inglés y en esta etapa solo quiero dar enfasis en el verbo en tiempo pasado. Después de ver el otro video de las rutinas en el tiempo presente, pueden ver este video igual pero donde solo he cambiado los verbos al tiempo pasado. Después vienen frases más complejas, pero primero tengo que enseñar "yesterday, last week, this morning, etc" en otro video. Todo paso a paso.

We have to give exact times, time is important in simple past according to present perfect as a sample

You don't always need exact times, though yes, you usually do use them.
A: What did you do this morning?
B: I went to school.
As speaker B I didn't give the exact time. In this case, if you do give an exact time (this morning) then it would sound repetitive.
Here I am focusing on the conjugation of the tense (how the verb changes) compared to the same video about daily routines in the present simple tense. This video is an introduction and I am yet to teach the associated "time words" of yesterday, last month, etc. I am doing it so that students can create their own more complex sentences piece by piece. This is the first part.

Everything helps. You don't need to choose just one.
Use a combination of books and internet to learn.
For writing... I prefer using a pencil and paper (a pencil because I can erase my mistakes or make changes).
