The glaring omission is that Michael Irvin's position is informed by having to overcome a reputation sullied by an association with the use of cocaine. To know that about your father's past and then capitalize on glorifying the lifestyle, without any lived experience, is grounds for exposure. Imagine his son trying to portray his rap lyrics to get some credibility and ends up in jail or worse? They Joe would be upset at Mike for not trying to stop his behavior.
Parents tend to believe their kids over exaggerate hardships based on their own perception of what they provided. multiple things can be true. I’m a parent, so I do understand the frustration of feeling your children might not fully appreciate the life you provided, but we can’t go around invalidating their entire experience.
@@rojayreid908 not what I said. I explained my comment was generally speaking because they didn’t just talk about Irvin son. My comment never mentioned Irvin son one time. This was a comment on their discussion.
It is sad and pathetic how we as a people encourage the continuation of the stereotype and false image of us and then from there attack the individuals that are bringing the truth.
Its crazy times we are living in. Its like the young generation doesnt appreciate anything at all. If you have parents that gave you a good life. Then let them know you appreciate all the hard work and sacrifices they made.
"My son is a rapper, talented too. Not all of the content is exactly how it happened, which I can say as a father - I provided for all my kids, but I guess that's artistic freedom. He goes by Tut Tarantino, listen to it if you have the time. I think he has potential." That's how you support your son, give critique to the authenticity behind the raps, and still defend yourself as a good father, without closing the door and throwing the key away on that potential lane in his life.
Sorry Joe, I’m with Ish. Especially In today’s world. We are losing all these young rappers because they rap about that lifestyle and even if they actually lived it or not, it’s a dangerous game to play because now people are going to be watching homie and get him for what he has. We need more lyrical content in hip hop too. Bring back the KRS-1, the Common, etc. feel of music. Good storytelling. That’s missing in hip hop. Not too many rappers are storytelling. But I see your point as well, music is art and you can paint your art anyway you want. It’s totally a freeing expression. And just about everybody lies in their raps. So I get that point you made.
I seen the Irving clip and I’m not complete sure but isn’t the reason Irving brought that up was because they discussing young guys that play spots that are falling into the “thug life” as in Ja Morant and Mikey and them( two kids who came from good homes that are getting in trouble for no reason)? Pretty sure that’s why he brought it up
We can’t have everybody lying & we just promoting it that’s what water down the game we never idolized people making up lifestyles in hip hop why start now especially in these times we gotta be transparent as possible good or bad lol
I agree with bro in the red he made sense. What Joe said was right too if Micheal didn’t say sumn no would have knew.but the ppl who know it is the friends and family the immediate circle is who would have something to say.. but we need to go back to old ass perception tho.
We do remember that he has a past with drug use. So hearing your son talk like that hit a nerve. And it's crazy your son saying he selling drugs when that's out there
Can’t fault the dad in this. Why would he want his son who didn’t have to struggle feeding into destructive lies and stereotypes that didn’t even happen. If the son has a right to lie, the father has a right to talk about the lies. It does reflect on him and the lifestyle he give his kids.
Well considering brodie is in jail right now I think that kinda leans more towards ish’s point of trying to protect your kid because the lies might catch the wrong ears and he might have to stand on something or the lies get inside his head so much he feel like he gotta jump off da porch over any typa situation
As a father i agree with Michael Irvin famous or not I'm not gonna bust my ass to give you a better life for you to rap about a fake lifestyle call it old school mindset but i would do the same
Both are right. Mike is allowed to feel disrespected. Where he is wrong is that shouldn’t have been shared online, he should’ve voiced that to his son privately.
Nah bruh in this particular instance blow up the spot.. You see what happened to Gillie's son.. we all know what comes with promoting that lifestyle....
Usually Budden has decent takes but this was stupid. I wouldn’t give a damn about this man “dream”. If his dream kicks off, he makes it, and somebody else presses him or makes him stand on business about what he rapping about, then we know the consequences that sometimes comes with that. Michael Irvin seemed like he’s confused about why is his son trying to go that route when he doesn’t have to in order to be successful. Plus, the music not good.
That artistic freedom is all fun and games until a real street dude comes and checks his temperature and sees if he's about that life. That's when calls to daddy is made to get the OK to let him slide. Michael Irvin is the one with the cred to let streets know he can get a pass.
F that! I saw one of Tut’s videos pretending to be catching bodies, pushin packs… Boy you better rap like Cole or Drake… Lupe, Anderson Paak, Tyler the creator, Kendrick… I’ll even accept Earl Sweatshirt! But you not about to be the Drill Team Captain when I’m still paying you an allowance! Stop this nonsense! 😅
Joe is missing something heavy when it comes to today’s hip hip and that style of hip hop. That style is usually expressed with actual factual crimes being committed. There’s real beefs behind that shit. That’s what Michael Irving is seeing when he sees his son rapping like that. He got a rifle in his hand acting like he active. Say if he did blow up off that, when he performs people go to these concerts to test that shit. These young rappers are dying. That wasn’t happening back in the glory days of hip hop. This shit is a different animal now. You think it’s about his reputation when it’s really about his child’s safety. I would say it’s a dramatic way to handle it. I would rather handle that behind the scenes, but at the same time you can’t really put a restriction on stopping someone you want to outlive you from having to live up to that shit when you live and direct and the crowd you attract are actually with the shits. This ain’t the 90’s or early 2000s. I wish ish would have brought this up instead of going with the selfish perspective of it, cause that’s really why Michael Irving did that. He basically saying my son will not try and perpetuate a life I lived rand get caught up actually having to live that. That ain’t what we doin. So if I have to embarrass you or tell the world you ain’t like that, fine. Better than the world finding that out cause you got got because someone wanted to test them lyrics you talkin.
The irony is that Mike Irving blowing his sons spot up the way he did might bring more spotlight to his music than if he just said " hey this is my son, he's an up and coming rapper and his music is fire..check him out". We all know mfers react more to negative drama than anything else
In my opinion Joe is not seeing the bigger picture realistically, let’s say this kid did blow up in his career, eventually the truth will come out and his fans and haters would roast/bully etc tf outta him so I agree that his father did the right thing.
Joe as a kid you could lie in your raps. Who was your mom or dad? There was no internet or social media. Don’t compare today’s time to any kid rapping today. Joe in your time you needed a label to be put on and to get a record deal. These kids today are independent. Different times. It’s like me talking about when I played football in the early 90’s to these kids today who clearly don’t know how the tackle. It’s a different game in everything from sports to music.
I saw the clip. Micheal Irvine wasn't chastising the kid. He was just amazed at the extent of self-mythologising that is currently accepted in rap music. He wasn't trying to hinder the kid's career. The reporting makes it sound as if he's against the kid's career. Both Joe and Ish missed the point but I'm with Joe on this. Let the kid say whatever IN HIS RAPS for his career.
I can see Dad perspective..but at same time parents don’t know everything they kid be doin💯💯every rapper lie till this day rappers be whole characters..most don’t even go by the real name

What experience he is rapping about other people lives including his Father.
I agree
@@rojayreid908 not too sure what you’re asking chief?! I’m not familiar with his music. speaking generally
@@theaveragezonetwork you mentioned that we can't go around invalidating his experience.
@@rojayreid908 not what I said. I explained my comment was generally speaking because they didn’t just talk about Irvin son. My comment never mentioned Irvin son one time. This was a comment on their discussion.
His father does have the right if he has worked tirelessly to make sure you didn’t grow up the way he did from south Florida! People are ignorant 😬
4:30 im so happy to hear him say "you're fkn crazy" to that remark 😂
Irvin did the right thing it’s parenting his son better drake it up plus Irvin is media member his son reflects him and his brand.
Didn’t know rap meant poor.
I thought it was an art form.
Oh wait Joe said it best
"My son is a rapper, talented too. Not all of the content is exactly how it happened, which I can say as a father - I provided for all my kids, but I guess that's artistic freedom. He goes by Tut Tarantino, listen to it if you have the time. I think he has potential." That's how you support your son, give critique to the authenticity behind the raps, and still defend yourself as a good father, without closing the door and throwing the key away on that potential lane in his life.
Joe can really relate to this subject.
My pop always made sure I knew "all this is mine you broke, non of this is your money" 🤷🏽♂️ lmao
Man I wish I could have called in on this episode & gave my take 🔥🔥🔥
Only a person not from the streets would think it was something to glorify.
Joe a goofy for this one real talk
Joe is bullist. He talk just to talk smh..over powering that Ish was saying
@@blizz1004 facts bro
The context of Irvin’s comment is important and has been ignored.
He was relating it to Ja Morant’s issues!
Buddens takes never cease to surprise me lmfao
I seen the Irving clip and I’m not complete sure but isn’t the reason Irving brought that up was because they discussing young guys that play spots that are falling into the “thug life” as in Ja Morant and Mikey and them( two kids who came from good homes that are getting in trouble for no reason)? Pretty sure that’s why he brought it up
He's saving his son's life. He doesn't care about him having a gangsta rap career
Clarence parents have a really good marriage 😂
Jaden did it right. Do music that actually expresses your personality and soul. Being a studio gangster is lame af.
It's more than art man. There's a difference between telling a story and a lie.
until you get tested
We do remember that he has a past with drug use. So hearing your son talk like that hit a nerve. And it's crazy your son saying he selling drugs when that's out there
As an artist I tell stories of those around me or my personal… never make up anything it’s all my perspective reality
Rappers getting killed for talking sh-t and Joe says „you just do it (as a parent) to protect yourself“ 💀💀
Can’t fault the dad in this. Why would he want his son who didn’t have to struggle feeding into destructive lies and stereotypes that didn’t even happen. If the son has a right to lie, the father has a right to talk about the lies. It does reflect on him and the lifestyle he give his kids.
It’s funny how they hold back mid sentence because of Mel in the room.
Didn’t Joe have a similar situation and then called it out on the pod. Back when he was with Rory and Mal?
“Gated Community” is krazy 😂
Officer Ricky said he knew the real Noriega and 50cent exposed him but fans don't care, they still bought his albums 😂😂
You gotta look inthe boobie bots and why dude bece a c.o.
If u hot any street ties, you’ll understand.
Wish rappers openly said they were either lying in their music or exaggerating. Would make it a whole lot easier.
Thank you! Nobody wants to admit that Irvin should of kept family matters private.
While I agree with you , the music really wasn’t that bad lol
That artistic freedom is all fun and games until a real street dude comes and checks his temperature and sees if he's about that life. That's when calls to daddy is made to get the OK to let him slide. Michael Irvin is the one with the cred to let streets know he can get a pass.
Could’ve checked your son in private not on TV 🤡 unless the plan was using this as a marketing strategy then it worked.
Joe is right. There’s a way to go about things not on national television. You got to protect the family and your child.
Super smart takes. Joe? Like him. I’m listening to him.
I'm with ish on dis 💯💯💯
Joe never fails with the pandering😂😂
Its no different than battle rap. By enlarge is just art with words
The co-host or research team knew he was his son. Michael's first outing was in response to an on air question.
Per usual, Salute to Ish for being right 🫡
That hat is to perfect for this conversation
I hardly ever agree with Joe B. but this time… he got a point..
This is why fathers need to be in their sons life
"respectfully", his son looks like Candace Owens in the thumbnail
In my opinion Joe is not seeing the bigger picture realistically, let’s say this kid did blow up in his career, eventually the truth will come out and his fans and haters would roast/bully etc tf outta him so I agree that his father did the right thing.
Lol cap rap is misleading the youth call all of em out
Joe as a kid you could lie in your raps.
Nobody knew that was his son until Irvin made a play on TV
Joe how can you tell Drake to act and rap his age, but want Irvins son rap a lie. Are we keeping it real or not, make up your mind.
Ish and flip is the realist on this podcast hand down
I saw the clip.
I agree, it’s rap…. As long as he don’t start trying to participate in stupid rap beef let him play make believe…a lot them do it anyways
I can see Dad perspective..but at same time parents don’t know everything they kid be doin💯💯every rapper lie till this day rappers be whole characters..most don’t even go by the real name
