The reason Michael Irvin told on his son is because he doesn't want his sons life to take a tragic turn like the rest of these drill rappers. Michael Irvin isn't snitching. He's being a parent.

I'm willing to bet if Tut was rapping from a conscious or closer to reality perspective Mike would have talked about him more often especially in a positive light. I think Joe has to try and view things from an artist perspective less sometimes. Mia celebrities kids are known and even if Tut wasn’t in the lime light, I’m sure someone who knows him would have opened their mouth about who he is. Especially, when they think because they known you while you were on the come up, that they’re entitled to one of your money. And when you don’t annie up, they gone give the press a story for the money. That was a chess move Michael pulled as to get ahead of all of the rumors and negative/bad press that may or could have trickled down the pipeline later on and cause so much chaos and disruption in he and his family’s life! Most parents would say, “huh, I wish one of my kids would!!!”🤣🤣😂😇

This is a common issue for Black kids growing up in the North Dallas Suburbs. Michael’s kids grew up in Plano, TX next door to where my kids grew up in Frisco, TX also close to where Deion Sanders kids grew up. In this area there are many retired athletes from many sports not just the Cowboys. I have run into Steve Harvey at the mall in Frisco a couple times. The last time Steve asked if I was following him. I went to pick up something from a persons house in Frisco and it turned out to be Jamal Mashburns ex wife. I have run into Tony Dorset many times who I don’t care for any more. My daughter went to the prom with his grandson. So this is an idea of the area I live. To remind people when I moved here I was a poor black kids right from the projects in Virginia Beach to this very expensive part of Dallas I was 19, now 50. I also grew up in VA Beach with Pharrell and Timberland at that time. Worked at KFC with the now late Magoo off Virginia Beach BLVD in VA Beach. This area of North Dallas I have lived for more than 30 years now is a place Black kids are the children of many of us who came from Da Hood, the street and worked our way to living in this community. I use to call my children’s friends BET Ni@@as, because all they knew of being Black was from what they saw on BET. Many of these kids have relatives from South Dallas which is the Hood and where track start Shacarri Richardson and Dennis Rodman are from. Kids often will try to act hard because they have family from South Dallas. Being from the East Coast, I have never gotten use to Texas. It’s strange here. The North Dallas suburbs ain’t close to any hood or real street life you see in Dallas. Dallas kids run circles around these suburban black kids.

Sorry Joe, I’m with Ish. Especially In today’s world. We are losing all these young rappers because they rap about that lifestyle and even if they actually lived it or not, it’s a dangerous game to play because now people are going to be watching homie and get him for what he has.
We need more lyrical content in hip hop too. Bring back the KRS-1, the Common, etc. feel of music. Good storytelling. That’s missing in hip hop. Not too many rappers are storytelling.
But I see your point as well, music is art and you can paint your art anyway you want. It’s totally a freeing expression. And just about everybody lies in their raps. So I get that point you made.

Pretty sure that’s why he brought it up

If his dream kicks off, he makes it, and somebody else presses him or makes him stand on business about what he rapping about, then we know the consequences that sometimes comes with that. Michael Irvin seemed like he’s confused about why is his son trying to go that route when he doesn’t have to in order to be successful.
    Plus, the music not good.

That artistic freedom is all fun and games until a real street dude comes and checks his temperature and sees if he's about that life. That's when calls to daddy is made to get the OK to let him slide. Michael Irvin is the one with the cred to let streets know he can get a pass.

Joe is missing something heavy when it comes to today’s hip hip and that style of hip hop. That style is usually expressed with actual factual crimes being committed. There’s real beefs behind that shit. That’s what Michael Irving is seeing when he sees his son rapping like that. He got a rifle in his hand acting like he active. Say if he did blow up off that, when he performs people go to these concerts to test that shit. These young rappers are dying. That wasn’t happening back in the glory days of hip hop. This shit is a different animal now. You think it’s about his reputation when it’s really about his child’s safety. I would say it’s a dramatic way to handle it. I would rather handle that behind the scenes, but at the same time you can’t really put a restriction on stopping someone you want to outlive you from having to live up to that shit when you live and direct and the crowd you attract are actually with the shits. This ain’t the 90’s or early 2000s. I wish ish would have brought this up instead of going with the selfish perspective of it, cause that’s really why Michael Irving did that. He basically saying my son will not try and perpetuate a life I lived rand get caught up actually having to live that. That ain’t what we doin. So if I have to embarrass you or tell the world you ain’t like that, fine. Better than the world finding that out cause you got got because someone wanted to test them lyrics you talkin.

The irony is that Mike Irving blowing his sons spot up the way he did might bring more spotlight to his music than if he just said " hey this is my son, he's an up and coming rapper and his music is fire..check him out". We all know mfers react more to negative drama than anything else

Joe as a kid you could lie in your raps. Who was your mom or dad? There was no internet or social media. Don’t compare today’s time to any kid rapping today. Joe in your time you needed a label to be put on and to get a record deal. These kids today are independent. Different times. It’s like me talking about when I played football in the early 90’s to these kids today who clearly don’t know how the tackle. It’s a different game in everything from sports to music.

I saw the clip. Micheal Irvine wasn't chastising the kid. He was just amazed at the extent of self-mythologising that is currently accepted in rap music. He wasn't trying to hinder the kid's career. The reporting makes it sound as if he's against the kid's career. Both Joe and Ish missed the point but I'm with Joe on this. Let the kid say whatever IN HIS RAPS for his career.
