Of course, not all of us can have as huge a garden (or full-time gardener) like Martha. She admits that. But, she's been such a huge inspiration in my life for decades now. She always inspires me to want beautiful things around me in my house & garden, AND gives me good tips on everything. Thanks Martha for showing us around your farm & garden.
@Jason Tempel Martha was entrapped as She had been the #1 Fund Raiser for the Democratic party. Talk about Felon, you Repulsican'ts have one in the White House and bunches more in Federal Prison!!! For their Crimes that All were tied to this Corrupt president! Get off the Orange Kool-Aid! Red hats are Out!
I grew up in Connecticut and followed you since Martha Stewart Entertaining was published. You were and still are such an inspiration.Thank you for sharing this. Please do more!
I agree. Martha Stewart is such an inspiration. She inspired this urban girl to create a garden in the 90’s. Her magazines helped me dream, plan and create, whether it was cooking, gardening, interior design or arts & crafts. She made it all accessible and with such style.
Martha almost never ears a mask, even with visitors there riding in the car with her. I love it. She won’t let anyone make her do anything in her own property.
One of the best segments! Thanks to Sunday Morning program, for bringing us a little of Martha Stewart. She has a strong following, and l know that they all enjoyed seeing her. Bring back, Once or Twice or Three times a month. And Especially for Thanksgiving and at Christmas time and Hanukkah. Martha is a Force of Nature, and a special gift to those of us who ♥️ her!!!
😍Is a dream place I love, love flowers but Florida is a little hard to keep a pretty garden, soil and high temperature are hard for beautiful gardens but you inspire me so I'm going to try to make and keep a nice garden
Looking good for almost 79, Martha. I often think that it would be a great thing for neighborhoods everywhere if there were more community gardens. Places that are truly oases. In today's unpredictable world those gardens would probably need a strong fence and controlled access to preserve them from vandals. In place of murals, a living natural area, with shade trees and living specimens.
Thanks. I learn something new..."Water, feed, fill with dirt". Most of my friends in USA say that they have a little yard, but it often turns out to be a good size😀😷
Sorry but this is actually incorrect. You add soil and then water well in order to get rid of any air pockets. Then often one needs to add more soil and water again.
I love overgrown gardens. You're often surprised at what's growing. Of course, not a very good garden for someone that doesn't do the work themselves. Martha mostly looks at her garden so it needs to look pretty at all times.
Garish just means "obtrusively bright and showy." In landscaping, red flowers are used sparingly and placed intentionally when the designer wants to create visual tension. Nothing wrong with red geraniums but Martha's style of garden landscaping is more subdued so the plants blend in well with each other and the eye flows from one plant to the next without one attracting all the attention. I'm sure she didn't mean it to sound the way you think.
Martha Stewart is one in a million always has and always will be I have so much respect for her if I could just have I just have one ounce of her talented I would be on top of the world some people were born to be talented this is what God had plans for her before she was ever in her mother's womb and she's just phenomenal every time I see her I'm in total all of her talents and that never ends I mean she can do it all she is a perfectionist and I understand and I should probably OCD I can understand because I'm a perfectionist and I am OCD as well and I that's a good thing nothing wrong with it at least you don't have to hunt for stuff you know where it is
I love black raspberries but I don't care for the red and they're not easy to find not in Houston Texas we have H-E-B here sometimes I can find it frozen or something I do I stock up
@@silencedogood9747 Nothing wrong with employing someone, but take take credit for their work is a bit egotistical. I mean after all you didn't do the work... She should say WE planted not I.
Dear Martha, Brava. In our small patch we do and share best we can. A lot of vertical garden. No rules to gardening. Wise is a person who shares neighbor to neighbor. Imperfect as we are. That is gardening to me.
Martha has spent decades gardening and could school Oprah on gardening. I watched Martha in her very early programs and she did all the gardening. If I was wealthy, I'd have a guy doing all the heavy garden work. I've gardened most of my life and it is hard work but love it.
@Amy Sternheim...Your post is very realistic. Sound guidance, even to just get started. A garden is very uplifting and does help to rejuvenate the spirit...no matter what size it may be.
Her empire is made on the fantasy that if we have a few "good things" that we won't notice the inequities in our lives. I promise you, the truly wealthy aren't aspiring to grow their own damn veggies. I work for them, and they would laugh at the idea. They laugh at her too. She's a known joke to them.
OK I have some questions/ comments: 1. Why is nobody wearing a mask even though there is less than 6 feet between people? I understand the gardener staying on the estate but what about you? And your vehicle passenger? 2. You did not mention a single variety name for any of the plants you showed. This is so frustrating. Why would you do that? 3. Is it really OK to demean the taste of fellow gardeners by referring to color choices other than your own as, “GARISH?” I think it is OK to have an occasional pop of complimentary color and if I were more judgmental I could refer to your choices as drab, wan, or uninspiring but I won’t cuz I wuz brought up better. 😉
So, Martha has been "farming" 153 acres in Westchester County, NY for about 15 years. Really Martha? I have trouble picturing you on a tractor, fixing a tractor, knowing which implement to use on said tractor, attaching the implement to said tractor, or better yet, getting your hands dirty! We all saw her idea of "planting" in this piece. Then, when she had the chance to plant something, a young man came along and did it but Martha couldn't pass up a chance to sell one of her garden implements, a hori, hori knife. Why would I spend $28 for that when God gave me 2 good hands to separate the roots from the dirt? Yeah Martha, I don't think so.
I usually love CBS Sunday Morning. However, this is insulting. Red Geraniums are beneath her? She is condescending and arrogant. She advertises her product as if her audience are toddlers. “See my name Martha?” This piece was insulting at a time when so many people are barely hanging on. Nice try, but perhaps her 157 acres could be used for more than boasting.
Martha has built Hospitals. Woman's Clinics! Supports many charities also! In the United States, you do with the money that you've worked hard for; Earned, Whatever you want. It's not for others to comment on the best use of your own Money! Losers!
I absolutely adore red geraniums - they’re a lovely staple at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, home of the longest front porch, where room rates are certainly not cheap. I’ve always thought of geraniums as being a very tailored, classy flower. I nearly choked when she called them “GARISH”!!! For Pete’s sake. Her nose is so high in the air, she must drown every time it rains.
Beautiful garden, but no need to diminish other gardeners by saying you hope your garden inspires gardeners to “up your game”. Dear Martha, you’re not the only person out there with an amazing garden. And, to use Sunday Morning as a pitch for your product. Not a good thing, Martha. Bad form.
I'm sorry to say, but Martha is a has been, still trying to be relevant. I have been watching Linda Vater lately and she is such an inspiration for the everyday gardener. Just a lady and her home garden! Martha had her day and it was quite a while ago! She is out of touch with the everyday person! She should just enjoy the fruits of her labor and retire already.
Rona Block Thank you for the Linda Vater suggestion - after seeing your comment, I looked her up and have been LOVING her videos! She seems like a very down-to-earth person with a gorgeous garden.
Good grief. So if you have several million dollars and a staff of gardeners, you too can have a garden/farm. Yay! And never misses an opportunity to hawk her wares (which are usually very poor quality, made in China).
..so you gave up on the place in South Hampton, LI, NY? Had landscaper friends who dealt with her in person - this is being boastful. Not a nice person.
I have love Martha Stewart ever since I discovered her show in the 90’s. She is inspirational in homemaking, gardening, and business. ❤️
I love Martha! I’m addicted to gardening, it’s my therapy.
No one can hold a candle to Martha Stewart! Queen of EVERYTHING!
Love the idea of planting a tree when someone is born or passes...
Yeah true
I started gardening 12 years ago spring of 2008. It's the most pleasurable and rewarding hobby. Not to mention the health benefits.
Loved taking a stroll through your gardens. As always, you are are an inspiration.

The art of gardening: pay a gardener to do all the work. :)

Humans need to responsibly find a way to return nature to every corner of all bland toxic urban and suburban environments...for many needed reasons.

This clip feels more boastful than inspiring. Sometimes wealthy people seem oblivious to how unattainable their lifestyles are to the rest of us.

Martha is an easy target but honestly I did not feel that she was being boastful. I felt inspired and I live in a studio apt in New York!
