Mortal Kombat 1 - How to Unlock All Characters (Shang Tsung, Havik, Motaro, Shujinko, Kung Lao etc)

- This guide shows how to unlock all Characters in Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1). There are 23 Main Characters and 15 Kameo Characters. 2 Main Characters and 5 Kameo Characters must be unlocked before they can be used, the rest are available from the start.
UNLOCKABLE CHARACTERS:
1. Shang Tsung = Pre-Order Exclusive DLC (must have pre-ordered the game), no other way to unlock him in-game
2. Havik = Beat the Main Kampaign Story Mode (all 4 Acts)
3. Scorpion (Kameo) = Reach Profile Level 5
4. Sub-Zero (Kameo) = Reach Profile Level 10
5. Kung Lao (Kameo) = Reach Profile Level 15
6. Shujinko (Kameo) = Reach Profile Level 20
7. Motaro (Kameo) = Reach Profile Level 25
The fastest way to increase player level is by playing Invasion Mode and always finish fights with a BRUTALITY (for final hit do an uppercut by holding DOWN+TRIANGLE / DOWN+Y). To speed it up further, set the game to 1 Round to Win, this can be done in Main Menu - Settings - Gameplay - Rounds to Win = 1. If you manage to get flawless victories (don't take damage) you get an even bigger XP bonus. Reaching Profile Level 25 can be done in about 10 hours if playing Invasion Mode.

Its ironic that Havik is a story mode unlockable, yet he played very little role in the story (probably will play big part in Aftermath DLC tough, as implied in the ending)
I have a feeling he might also become that type of dlc where you can pay to play as him without completing story mode.
@@chemicaljack818probably similar to frost, except you have to beat the entire story mode this time around. i honestly don’t mind that he’s locked behind story mode, i’m actually excited to play it.
Yeah feel like Shang should've been the story unlock and just let people that pre-ordered get access to him early.

for anyone confused about how kameos are unlocked, some you get at the start, those kameos are, stryker, sektor, cyrax, Jax, sonya, kano, sareena, darruis, and frost. kameo scorpion, sub-zero, shujinko, kung lao, and motaro are unlocked by playing any mode that is not practice mode and leveling up your profile.

That's interesting that to unlock the kameo fighters you got to level up instead of doing invasion mode like what people were theorizing

Did you watch the after credit scene?
@@FearEpidemic Titan Havik and the Havik from this timeline (the one that's currently in the game) are two separate entities. The currently playable Havik has little to no relevance to the story.

It’s unselectable right now, but I think they’ll either put a character they’ve been hiding well there, or it will lead into a menu for the dlc fighters

Can someone help me idk what's going on , I purchased the expensive premium edition and I downloaded the game and submitted all the codes but I don't have any dlc characters like homelander, peacemaker etc. , do I have ti wait or should it already be on the game since I thought I paid for it ? Correct me; but what is the purpose of having Subzero, Scorpion and Kung Lao as both Main Fighter and Kameo Fighter? I am happy to replace these three Kameo to others such as Sheeva, Nightwolf, Kabal, Cassie Cage etc. Quan Chi is missing from the cast- I am sure he will pop up later with additional roles.
I'm not sure exactly but it's helpful for stuff like if you want a specific popular team. Like liu kang and kung lao, or either combination of playable/assist for scorpion and sub zero. Or even if you want double scorpion or double sub zero which is also fun. Personally I just wish on top of the unique kameos they would just let you pick main roster characters as the assist too if you want to. With the way they have it set up you wouldn't even be able to use the deadly alliance as a team when Quan chi gets added.
so is the only way to get Shang Tsung through preorder? so like you cant get him anymore???

You need to get them from the Shrine (rewards are randomized, so it’s not geranteed)
So the only way I can do the invasion mode where I have to get a fatality with Shang Tsung I have to spend money

To unlock all kameos get to account lvl 25
To unlock havik finish story mode
Future kombat pack characters will be released one at a time and not all at once it seems, so if you got ultimate edition of already have the kombat pack you need to wait

Ok, I'm just gonna say it for the morons who don't seem to understand how post-launch dlc works: Kombat Pack 1 is not released yet. It's just available for purchase, and the characters will be added over time one by one. I don't understand why so many people thought these characters would be available day one.
