There isn't a huge difference in the Xtreme 3 and X10 performance or build quality wise, but there is a HUGE difference in price. $350 for the X3 and right around $100 for the X10. A little 3rd party EQ tweaking on the X10, plus a firmware update that was available several weeks ago, and it's a pretty darn good speaker for $100.
Where is this X10 update available at so I can install it? -edit- Found it. Here is the thread on reddit. I am going to try it. On a side note, wonder if the eq will come to any other speakers, like the boombox 2. Hopefully it's ok to post the link here. theres no point in me installing new firmware if most people will be listening to the old firmware. now if the newer x10s were coming with the new firmware id update. this is getting to be a thing with wking. adjusting eq for speakers already out there so making us beta testers and not having anyway to let people know about a firmware update unless they are proactive like you guys.

@@alanrossreviews not sure if W-King will handle the X10 the same as they did the D9, but the D9 came out on Amazon, then several weeks later they also offered the Updated model on Amazon. So both were available for a while. Now only the firmware updated model is showing as available. I guess we shall see what happens.

it's been obvious from all of your reviews here about the JBL Xtreme's, but I love how plainly you say it in the conclusion: just because it goes "one two three" doesn't mean at all that it's an overall upgrade everytime they come out with a new one. i just assumed (before starting to watch your channel) that higher number = better speaker. Not so at least for the JBL Xtremes!
JBL extreme 3 is 400 here in Canada and the X10 was 120. I went with the X10 to try it out and I think it sounds fantastic. I can also bet there's no way the JBL is over 3 times as good.
I've still got My JBL Xtreme 1 I just mess about with my equalizer on my phone to get it to sound right for me...unless JBL drop their prices I ain't giving them my money again great review as always my man

Also in the specs they said that it has 2 woovers of 35w each and 2 tweeters 10 watts each.. the final math is 90watts .. I am a little confused .. can you help please?
Yes its all nonsense, you want to know the amp power output not the drivers rating lol peak also meaningless, its just output for a fraction of a second. You want to know the rns output.

Hi Alan. Hope all is well. Quick question. I already have the Boom and the X10. Also grabbed a Xtreme 3 to see how it sounds. Absolutely horrible how it boosts the highs at high volume. Drives me nuts. My question is, and I realize it is hard to guess at this point but, do you think when they add the custom EQ to the X3, if it will also add the option to disable the boosted highs at high volume? It would only make sense to do so as if you already have the EQ setup, it could boost the highs to more than you have set. I know they still may keep it so ppl dont boost the bass and mess up the speaker at max volume but I am really wondering. I am def going to return the X3 but the only thing that would make me keep it would be a fixed EQ with no artificial boost.-Edit- I know boosting the highs isn't the right description but you know what I mean.
Xtreme 3 is my favourite sound, but the differences are so small that the price is honestly just egoistic from JBL! The X10 puts out very impressive bass, but the rest of it sounds a bit dull i think.
it does what it says on the tin, enough there to party and say you got bass! goes louder than xtremes too! however that roll off from from 2.5khz does indeed make it sound lifeless once you start some long session listening.

Have you updated your X10? W King sent me an email with the instructions on how to update mine, after seeing my Amazon review. I wasn't able to update mine, as I have a Chromebook and not a computer with windows 10. The update supposedly adds more bass to both the Indoor and Outdoor mode. Might be worth checking out and doing an updated video, if you are in fact able to update yours.
no i decided against this for wking after d9 because i need it to sound the way it will for most people. crazy having firmware updates that nobody can possibly know about unless emailing wking. however if it turns out the newer ones come with the newer firmware then i will.
I updated my X10's firmware. The sound was mediocre at best before the update and I was going to return it. After the update EQ 2 (outdoor mode) sounds awesome. It brought the bass back coupled with the fuller mids and highs. The standard EQ 1 mode sounds muddy in comparison. After the update I compared it side by side with a Sonos Move. No way is the sound quality difference worth 4X. The Sonos did sound slightly better but it better for that premium price point.
The X10 is loud but the jbl extreme 3 just has a overall warmer sound to me.is it worth a extra 200 bucks? To me yes as I do listen to it all the time. Thanks for the great review!
I've recently had a chance to play around with Xtreme 3, at max volumes and I have to say, regardless of all reviews I've seen, I was still disappointed. The sound like Alan many times demonstrated, after 80% volume is to my ears just screeching, unlistenable. But even at lower volumes I'm just not a fan of that JBL tuning, there is a certain hollowness to the sound for the lack of a better word. I used to think that it meant the speaker was cleaner sounding, but after awhile I just don't enjoy listening to that type of sound signature.
its not a speaker for listening in too serious a way, its my preference of the xtreme lineup but the bass is till out of whack with the rest of the response and killing as real listening. this is a boombox with a nice rumbly bass and some clarity due to a big peak around 13khz but its a long way from hifi. the motion boom has it beat up to the 80% mark. i think the x10 probably has it beat to at neat 1/3rd the price but none of them are a decent listen for me.
It would better if they get rid of tweeters but instead use 2 full range drivers and 1 woofer ... I'm talking about the xtreme ... There's so much potential in a speaker that size

For a long time I’ve been searching for a portable speaker with abilities to play low (below 50Hz) in any price range. I was disappointed with B&O Beoplay P6, Bose Revolve+, Marshall Stockwell 2 and many more. HK go+play was my companion for many years but the size is not easy to pack. I wish To find Marshall Woburn II (easily reaching 30Hz) in a smaller package. My Devialet Phantom I 108dB is smaller and playing 14Hz :D but not portable. If you know about any other speaker I shall look at please let me know ;-)
For me havin owned the extreme 2 I find the x10 to sound lots better .. especially when figuring it unplugged or even with extreme 2 plugged in at any volume but where I find it really pulls away was at 80 percent or higher!!! Guess I'm one a the upper bass guys lol altho I will also add I think the jbl extreme and charge series are junk ... the flips too when figuring what ya can get from a company like w king or soundcore.... said after bein hugely dissapointed in extreme 2. Last WI ter I bought at target on sale for 149.99 and took it bacj within 1 hr of buying it..... but the boom is much better the exos 3 much better and the d9 t9 and x10 absolutely destroy all of em in my opinion but that's also using my adapt sound under 30 yr old to boost highs... you understand that this is relative to the track right? i get this all the time, there is no standard test for peak level. most of you confuse peak and max anyway. when you see speaker speaker specs with a spl db, understand that this depends on how they measured it, (single frequency or pink noise etc) and its normally a sensitivity measurement for a single watt. so much confusion on this.
X 10 have good low bass...trust me. I have one... is not Just an upper bass speaker. The harsh highs like Alan says can be eq with the WAVELET eq app. And try to get it updated to the new firmware the outdoor mode will have better low bass and it sounds open and cleaner.

I have eq my D8 to get better sound but that speaker is limited to what it can put out. Yes, this speaker definitely needs better tuning for its default sound, no doubt.
the wking sounds muffled without question, its bright vs grunt. but double the price? thats a thing. I almost always buy both and keep the expensive thing, but with these bluetooth small speakers that price is hard to justify. If ur at the beach does the brightness matter? Nope, output ad traveling sound does. At home use some bookshelf speakers for the same price as the jbl, even active ones that make them sound like soda cans. Interesting space.
i bought the X10 and 2 motion booms when i saw your reviews, i did on sunday 9 hours at mx volume in the x10, sound vocal clarity is not the best asset for the x10, for clairty and queality of sound the motion boom is better
Update I received my Anker early I love it but with my bad luck I got a Defective unit on one song that had alot of bass the right side COMPLETELY BOTTOM OUT and by the time I stopped it the right driver is damage so I got to send it back and get another one😭

That XB10 speaker might be 50W or more while JBL extreme 3 is only 40 So in terms of bass I think the XB10 is just big compared to all those JBL speakers
JBL is good when it comes to Battery power and quality of the sound But most importantly is the Battery because it is more reliable than any other Bluetooth speakers I know of

the wking x10 does well in these quick listens, once you start a long session with tracks you know well is when you start realising its 5 minute tuning. its decent enough value but not for anyone who has tried lots of speakers like yourself. but for a fun party speaker that goes loud its a good buy. goodbye? 🤪
They do claim that but only with power lead in. But this watts rms peak max thing can be easily worked to give an inflated output. At least in the manual they do say rms which suprised me. I do wonder if its really rms and if so is it measured in industry standard tests?
@@alanrossreviews I have brand new Xtreme 3 and so far i have issues with bluetooth...when the speaker its on full volume and when a turn volume down bluetooth connection breaks and i must turn the speaker off,turn it on again to connect.I have done reset the speaker manny times but its the same problem. audio doesn't work like that, you always pay ever increasing amounts for smaller increases in performance. the x3 sounds better at the end of the day.

My 2 xtreme 3 cannot play party or l and r speaker properly, dunno if Bluetooth has issues or something, never had issues with my x2

For me havin owned the extreme 2 I find the x10 to sound lots better .. especially when figuring it unplugged or even with extreme 2 plugged in at any volume but where I find it really pulls away was at 80 percent or higher!!! Guess I'm one a the upper bass guys lol altho I will also add I think the jbl extreme and charge series are junk ... the flips too when figuring what ya can get from a company like w king or soundcore.... said after bein hugely dissapointed in extreme 2. Last WI ter I bought at target on sale for 149.99 and took it bacj within 1 hr of buying it..... but the boom is much better the exos 3 much better and the d9 t9 and x10 absolutely destroy all of em in my opinion but that's also using my adapt sound under 30 yr old to boost highs... Alan I know ya love when I conti ue to bring that up ahahahaha but all jokes aside and not surprising but another Great Video from you Alan!!!!! Thank you for sharing and your waterfall over speakers when describing their ip rating was phenomenal!! I love it!!
yup! most of these speakers can be eqd to be way better but takes time with each one and i need to keep things as simple as possible. 😁

you understand that this is relative to the track right? i get this all the time, there is no standard test for peak level. most of you confuse peak and max anyway. when you see speaker speaker specs with a spl db, understand that this depends on how they measured it, (single frequency or pink noise etc) and its normally a sensitivity measurement for a single watt. so much confusion on this.
btw i also switched from no weighting to C weighting.

X 10 have good low bass...trust me. I have one... is not Just an upper bass speaker. The harsh highs like Alan says can be eq with the WAVELET eq app. And try to get it updated to the new firmware the outdoor mode will have better low
bass and it sounds open and cleaner.
yup, eq can do wonders for many speakers, we have to judge the default tuning though unless they have an app and you can embed settings.

I have eq my D8 to get better sound but that speaker is limited to what it can put out. Yes, this speaker definitely needs better tuning for its default sound, no doubt.
the wking sounds muffled without question, its bright vs grunt. but double the price? thats a thing. I almost always buy both and keep the expensive thing, but with these bluetooth small speakers that price is hard to justify. If ur at the beach does the brightness matter? Nope, output ad traveling sound does. At home use some bookshelf speakers for the same price as the jbl, even active ones that make them sound like soda cans. Interesting space.

i bought the X10 and 2 motion booms when i saw your reviews, i did on sunday 9 hours at mx volume in the x10, sound vocal clarity is not the best asset for the x10, for clairty and queality of sound the motion boom is better
But for going loud are you happy with it?

Update I received my Anker early I love it but with my bad luck I got a Defective unit on one song that had alot of bass the right side COMPLETELY BOTTOM OUT and by the time I stopped it the right driver is damage so I got to send it back and get another one😭

So in terms of bass I think the XB10 is just big compared to all those JBL speakers

JBL is good when it comes to Battery power and quality of the sound
But most importantly is the Battery because it is more reliable than any other Bluetooth speakers I know of

For a long time I’ve been searching for a portable speaker with abilities to play low (below 50Hz) in any price range.
I was disappointed with B&O Beoplay P6, Bose Revolve+, Marshall Stockwell 2 and many more. HK go+play was my companion for many years but the size is not easy to pack. I wish To find Marshall Woburn II (easily reaching 30Hz) in a smaller package. My Devialet Phantom I 108dB is smaller and playing 14Hz :D but not portable. If you know about any other speaker I shall look at please let me know ;-)

Jbl xtreme overhyped/priced/crapped line..😝 jbl xtreme 2 sounds the best for me, but the wking, better then jbl xtreme 1 and 3 for me!
the wking x10 does well in these quick listens, once you start a long session with tracks you know well is when you start realising its 5 minute tuning. its decent enough value but not for anyone who has tried lots of speakers like yourself. but for a fun party speaker that goes loud its a good buy. goodbye? 🤪

In terms of loudness, how does X10 compare? Being 70W I would imagine X10 to be louder than Xtreme3 but my experience with X10 is not that loud..

They do claim that but only with power lead in. But this watts rms peak max thing can be easily worked to give an inflated output. At least in the manual they do say rms which suprised me. I do wonder if its really rms and if so is it measured in industry standard tests?

Xtreme 3 and so far i have issues with bluetooth...when the speaker its on full volume and when a turn volume down bluetooth connection breaks and i must turn the speaker off,turn it on again to connect.I have done reset the speaker manny times but its the same problem.
Can that be fix with the future firmware update or its the hardver problem?
