When in junior high school 9th grade we played at Hancock Golf club in Austin I didn't have my own clubs so for 25 cents you could rent at the clubhouse and some of the clubs had wooden shafts early 60s and nick name of the course hanrock lots of em ...now 72 can't play due to physical things...anywho enjoyed the video many Sweet memories from the ruff heck it was all ruff ! ol man way down in TX JD
Justin I drove over to Hancock Friday 6-5-2020 just to Re-Think ol memories and the course has been sit up different for quite a while heading north on Red River that one use to be #3 now I think its 9 comin in ...anywho I'm really glad that the Course is in such better shape today and the volume of folks that are able to play Through and Relax and Enjoy a peice of Austin's History not the best by far but the location and Natural Terrain ! Good Golfing ! ol man way down in TX jd
I'm 45 and I started playing golf in 1991, i was 16. My first set of clubs were Driver - actual wood head with metal shaft, it was made in the 1970's. My 3 wood was also a real wood with metal shaft. My irons were early Nicklaus brand. I had a 1 iron, 3-pw. I learned to hit the ball really well and played with them until 1994 when i bought newer clubs. I feel lucky to have actually used older clubs and feel it benefited my golf game later. 1 iron was hard to hit, and it hurt like hell to hit a full shot, i learned quickly to swing easy, half shots and make good contact. Nothing like the sound of a wood driver.
I played at that course when it was called Robinson's Ranch. It was a neat design but it was soo dry that the ball bounced off the ground like it was concrete. The greens were so fast it was almost unplayable. I had fun anyways and will not forget the course. Thanks for playing out there, nice video.
picked up a great set of old clubs at a thrift shop . even contained a 3 1/2 wood amongst other gems. used them to go on a company golf tourny, and sunk a 40 ft. putt. a good time was had by all.
Maybe after watching Mark play with this old equipment, some people can really appreciate how good Bobby Jones truly was. By the way, those old wood clubs were most likely persimmon heads, maybe hickory, but not oak or cherry. Geez!
In 1960 I expressed an interest in golf and my Dad bought me a set of clubs. 2 woods and 6 irons plus putter. Each club was from a different maker. Never had so much fun in all my life. I learned how to play with each club and got to 9 handicap. The 6 iron was my favourite - the ball went exactly where I wanted it to go. I now have a set of Calloways and still can't match the golf I played aged 14.
When growing up, 50s, my dad bought some older clubs, not hickory. Woods back then were persimmon or laminated. The 10 iron was a putter, but was also used as a chipper anywhere even 50 yds off the green, if needed. It wasn't bent at the head, I don't think, because I had one just like it.
What about a golf cart vlog with the OG 3!!Joey,Matthias and Bryan!?? It would be dope to see them talk about their journey from their first video uploads to now??🔥🔥🔥
These videos are awesome they are making me really want to play golf however it is Winter here and there is snow on the ground so I have to wait till the Spring but once the Spring hits I am grabbing my clubs and heading over last year my best score for 9 holes was a 47
Fun stuff, guys. Keep it going. I have a few hickory-shaft clubs (one is a Walter Hagen niblick - 8 iron - that has dimples instead of grooves), and I have a many persimmon woods - drivers, spoons (2-wood), 3 woods ... I play with the permissions every once in a while -- fun to hit the old clubs, and the whippy shafts -- swing eeeeeeeaaaassssyyy!
Looks like a lot of fun, thanks for posting. 😆 I played a course in San Diego once (Balboa Park) where Sam Snead STILL holds the course record. Consider that his driver would look like a modern 5 wood, he played with hickory shafts, awful balls and a putter like a hockey stick. Just goes to show that those old timers had some serious magic in their fingers!
LOL!! So I"m 49 and a lefty, I started playing when I was 19, (late start) my 1st set was Sammy Snead woods, 3 wood and driver (actual Wood woods) with Sammy Snead Irons.
Me too pretty much. I can still remember the first time i got on a par 5 in 3... 4 wood, 2 iron, 2 iron... i later snapped the head off that 2 iron at the driving range
ive been using my father in laws clubs from the 70s the entire last year I learned. I feel miles better about my play now. They really look closer to the 100 year old, than anything new. I even had a 2 iron.
You won't know until you try, and even if you don't have a great swing you can still enjoy the game. But it's definitely not for everyone. It teaches you a lot about how to deal with frustration.. 😉
PS ..After gettin to high school in Austin jr. year thought I would give it another whril the level of competition changed...one young fella was shootin in the 60s constantly ...I gave some thought to find this guys name...I did hear he came from the N.W. side of Lamar Blvd. ....didn't mean that much then except for the fact competition was out of my league....his name was Mr.Tom Kite didn't know him personally just a quiet young fella with a Big stick ! I decided to play for just that one shot to make me go back and the military called. . I did read about him and a young fella by the name of....gentle Ben from the other high school in Austin and when they got together at the University Tevas ! Thanks Again for sharing this video brings back many memories ! ol vet way down in TX.....wishin I could fo back for that one shot ...Have a Great Time out there Ladies and Gentlemen....!
Bryan... In regards to your wedges... The ball should never be in the middle of your stance, it should be forward for a higher shot (tear drop) and back for everything else. Your hands should be behind the ball for a flop shot and in front of the ball for everything else. If your're not hitting a tear drop then your weight should be planted 100% on your front foot. If you want to drop strokes your short game is where you're going to do it. Love the vids, keep it up!
This is the 1st video I’ve watched on this channel. I love hickory clubs. Y’all should get the reproduction hickory clubs and play rounds with them. (That’s $1,500 tho...) otherwise find a lefty set for bry-guy and allow him an extra stroke or allow him to use a modern ball
Haven't had a game for years. Up country at my Mum's place for a while. Found my old clubs with wood drivers. When the courses re open might have to take them out for a few holes.
Kro Flite was owned by Spalding, if people were wondering. It might now be sold to Callaway, but Callaway sold off Top Flite so I don't know if that's related to that sale.
The Mid Iron is an older club from pre 1914. The club set then was Driver, fairway driver, mid iron long Iron. Rick Shiels He used a set from that era of 1910 on a golf course that is a 12 hole set on this one course a few years ago.
Never watched golf before. But your videos popped up and I can say I truly want to try and learn. Looking for feedback on where to start and what type of clubs a left handed newbie should look into. I don't have tons of money but really want to get into golf.
I learned to play with my grandfathers Walter Hagen irons circa 1925. They had metal shafts up to the grip and the grip was leather wrapped around wood. I still have them.
I actually want to try to play golf sometime because of your videos. I have one arm and was wondering if you could try an one-armed challenge? I think it’d be fun to watch and give me confidence in trying golf :)
I just inherited some wood shafted clubs. They're called St Andrews and the set has two 2 woods lol. I was told not to hit modern balls because it will destroy the wood heads? Would be cool to do a simulator to see distance differences to see just how good the old guys were.
If you are getting flack for your tempo. Take a deep breath in on the back swing, then exhale on the downswing. Helped me drop my game 7 strokes. Not kidding.
My favorite ball I had when I was a kid was a Kro-Flite. That ball played so well until I hit a 90° slice into the heavy weeds. I looked and looked but never found it. 😢
You guys have great chemistry. It's easy to tell you're good friends, a treat to watch!
Mark looked like he felt so bad when you said he wasnt recording 😂😂
That was so genuine too. So wholesome 😢

Yeah I started in 1983 with Balata balls and woods too! glad those days are over
You guys are a lot of fun to watch. Mark's laugh is contagious.
"10 iron is a pitching wedge" - My father who walked by randomly
10 is a putter
In the 1920s a 10 iron was a putter today it is a pitching wedge.
I think it's 10 degrees so it's a putter. But yes, I also have a 10 iron that is the same as a pitching wedge
Following up again, I saw a 10 at Goodwill that I regret not buying because it was a super old putter
Not even 10 seconds in and Bryan already almost crashed the golf cart.
Its gonna be a good shows people!
Lol Bryan can't drive
Going back and watching your older vids makes me realise how much better Brian has gotten at golf. Keep up the great progress Brian
Just found your channel and during this lock down it is nice to watch 2 people having fun on the course.
I love that you guys are having so much fun. That’s what it’s all about.
I played at that course when it was called Robinson's Ranch. It was a neat design but it was soo dry that the ball bounced off the ground like it was concrete. The greens were so fast it was almost unplayable. I had fun anyways and will not forget the course. Thanks for playing out there, nice video.
Y'all are awesome. I was looking at vids for Antique hickory shafted clubs and yours came up in the search. NICE!!!
This might be my new favorite channel. I know absolutely nothing about golf.
Bro I’m right there with you😂
The vibes are immaculate
Congrats Bryan!! I’ve been waiting for to win one. Keep going and wins some more. Love you and this channel.
picked up a great set of old clubs at a thrift shop . even contained a 3 1/2 wood amongst other gems. used them to go on a company golf tourny, and sunk a 40 ft. putt. a good time was had by all.

Persimmon was the most common wood used in woods back in the day. I still have a persimmon driver from the 70’s in my garage.
bryan i love your videos! your videos made me start loving golf. good luck for the future. keep making people smile
Mark and Brian have a great dynamic. Makes for great and relaxing entertainment!
My grandfather had a full set of woods. Back when thread compressed the wood to head. Was in a leather and canvas bag
In 1960 I expressed an interest in golf and my Dad bought me a set of clubs. 2 woods and 6 irons plus putter. Each club was from a different maker. Never had so much fun in all my life. Bryan, plz do more course vlogs with Catherine cuz I really love it when you and ROZE got to know each other more
That old school bag is sweet
Bryan + cocky golf=disaster😂😂😂
Nice Zac Radford quote and point to the camera
Congrats on the win
That’s why I should never be cocky!

Everything is great as always bryan and mark but the song though in the background hella soothing

I've been golfing in Montana
i DO NOT play or watch golf, this popped up at random, and i absolutely love it.
Love Marks positive energy 👍🏻

When Brian ties with mark for once and realizes he counted wrong when he was editing..... 😂
.
Very amusing! Gotta go to Chelsea Piers tonight...New Yawk golfers are tough...
Great video. Good chemistry and Mark is full of knowledge. Subbed
"A very special episode"
*expects a drunk golf cart driving parable
Looks like a lot of fun, thanks for posting. 😆
I played a course in San Diego once (Balboa Park) where Sam Snead STILL holds the course record.

Love the bag , I had one like it ,with a set of Ben Hogan Bantams, but it disintegrated , still have the irons.
i love this! It keeps me playing golf. But this is definitely very entertaining!
Love this channel! You guys made me go more out and play golf!
These videos are awesome 😎 you make golf fun! 🤩
First vid I ever watched of you. It was amazing. Just subscribed and looking for more! Our golf games are basically the exact same lol
LOL!! So I"m 49 and a lefty, I started playing when I was 19, (late start) my 1st set was Sammy Snead woods, 3 wood and driver (actual Wood woods) with Sammy Snead Irons.

You guys are having way too much fun!!!
Kro-flites were a Spalding model, shafts were mostly hickory! There were some who used bamboo...those a quite rare though!
I'm a horrible golfer and have to rent clubs when I go but it's a blast. I'll play you Brian and you'll look like a pro
😂
"Oak or Cherry?" - Woods are typically made out of persimmon.
hickory
Hey Mark and Bryan, I'm not even a ball golfer, and I still enjoyed these videos. You can tell I'm a disc golfer because I said "ball golfer."
You and the people you play with really make me want to learn how to play. I just don't know if I could ever learn how to swing properly
You won't know until you try, and even if you don't have a great swing you can still enjoy the game. But it's definitely not for everyone. It teaches you a lot about how to deal with frustration.. 😉

13:48 is probably one of my favorite moments in this channel
hahaha @3:46
Mark - "...he wouldn't even sell 'em for 700 bucks, so..."
Bryan - "And you're about to break 'em?"
Cracked me up
I play golf in Missouri which means I only get about 6 months of golf. Wish I lived in California like y’all.
If you can deal with the cold you can golf lol at least were I live in mo it hardly actually snows
1 year ago... crazy! Hoping to see wonkier challenges, perhaps a blindfolded tee shot?? 😈
The Mid Iron is an older club from pre 1914. The club set then was Driver, fairway driver, mid iron long Iron. Rick Shiels He used a set from that era of 1910 on a golf course that is a 12 hole set on this one course a few years ago.
I think we’d all enjoy is maybe a foot golf or soccer golf challenge! See who wins then! Plus it’s extra fun too
Never watched golf before. But your videos popped up and I can say I truly want to try and learn. Looking for feedback on where to start and what type of clubs a left handed newbie should look into. I don't have tons of money but really want to get into golf.
in the future can you make a video where you battle. team edge vs Hi5 Studios golf ⛳ pls
What team is matt gonna be on
@@bigtimeaze-azeramos9645 good one but come on Best friends vs Job what would you choose?
I learned to play with my grandfathers Walter Hagen irons circa 1925. They had metal shafts up to the grip and the grip was leather wrapped around wood. I still have them.
So cool. Did you learn how to shape shots and could you still do it with new clubs?
Next episode mark should play with plastic clubs and a tennis ball. Like those plastic target clubs different clubs like blue and green and red
Lol i really love this channel
I would love to see a pro tournament using older equipment and balata golf balls!
Argggh balatas. Lol.
LMAO, the Last hole was out to get you. Great video. Rematch!!
.
Kill them with kindness
Bryan you should try to play a game of golf with GM_golf
😁
Experior Golf, does that mean there is a video coming soon?
YES
Bro this was a surprisingly good vid. I'm not a golfer, but I'd dig seeing more of this content. Subbed and clicked that bell.
cant wait for your video on your other channel 'experior'
I actually want to try to play golf sometime because of your videos. I have one arm and was wondering if you could try an one-armed challenge? I think it’d be fun to watch and give me confidence in trying golf :)
Thanks! That's such a good idea!!
I don't even like golf... But I found this entertaining.
4:50 min in and just getting to actually hitting the ball...
James Gladney thank UA-cam for fast forward
Low key super entertaining

i wish Tiger would do this kind of stuff, great video!
This looks very fun great video
BYRAN JUST REMEMBER, SWING EASY
Another Pro Vs Amateur video idea, Mark uses hockey stick and we get a happy Gilmore style video 😂😂😂
Yall actually made me play :) thank you
My Jack Nickolas Golden Bear Woods are Persimmon. Still work great.
You should have him play with a kids toy golf set against you😂
when Lee Trevino was a caddy he could beat amateurs with a shovel and a rake..true story.
10 iron is a putter. My brother was a PGA pro in Metuchen NJ and had one and somehow was LIGHTS OUT with it.
Come to AZ before it gets to hot brother! A lot of good golf to be had here
I play with Kroflite cubs ! Might be time for an upgrade I guess.
You should do the tournament with 3 pros vs Team Edge (Bryan, Joey, & Bobby)
6:21 had me in tears😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes lets put a PGA tour event using old school clubs and see where they match up with the old pro's!!
Man mark is so cool!
My favorite ball I had when I was a kid was a Kro-Flite. That ball played so well until I hit a 90° slice into the heavy weeds. I looked and looked but never found it. 😢
I wanna start thanks to you guys so keep it up
3:47 "And you're about to break them?" lmao
What camera are you filming with. The graphics are amazing
are you going to upload on your other channel Experior
Yup. New vid coming soon
Oh man @630 I was dying hahaha "whats with the hands" hahaha
Looked like fun fellas!
Counting is a skill too!
Brian, I feel your pain with the tempo. I hear it every time I play
