I also want to point out that even with health insurance, there is still a thing called deductible which you mentioned briefly, that still rips off so many people, especially those who aren't very well off. People who aren't well off tend to select the lowest health insurance coverage, either buying it themselves or provided by their jobs. With lowest health insurance coverage comes very high deductible which can still put in very difficult financial situations. Health care is a nightmare in the US. It is extremely capitalized and made to put poor people in poor situation and rip off those who are quite well off. Best to always pray you don't have to visit hospital.

As software developers I think there are so many opportunities in the U.S. It's great that you have a master degree; however, the degree you have may not be accredited in the U.S so you might have to go back to school.
