This is one of my favorite “how it got made on a shoestring and a prayer” Hollywood classic film stories ever. The cast, script, and filming are perfection-I cringe when I think of how it would have turned out had Favreau given it to someone else to make.

Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau have been in tons of stuff together too making the confusion even worse. They both starred in Rudy, Made, Just Your Luck, Term Life, 4 Christmases, Swingers, The Break Up, Couples Retreat, and Vince Vaughns Wild West Comedy Show.
Favreau just seems limitless in keeping his wonder and awe alive in all his projects and keeps his soul forever young and lets the viewer take in his vision, what a ride!
Wow I just noticed the music Swingers used for the Reservior Dogs walking along the brick wall reference is the same music he uses in Iron Man 2 for Justin hammer's walkout music at the expo. Nice touch Jon.
I first saw Swingers a few years back right after a break-up and it helped me try to get back out there. It's now one of my favorite movies and I recommend it to people often.
Great story! So many stars came out of this. Always remember how they screened this at Cal Berkeley when I was there and then I saw a friend in it because another friend was the script supervisor for the film and wrote them into the scene!
This movie is a classic! When I was in the early days on my Navy career, living in Hawaii, these were my friends. We lived this in a sense. We all loved this movie and in a way became our mantra. My friends and I had just graduated college in '97 and would be quoting this movie nonstop. A few years later when I lived in LA visiting all the night clubs shown in the movie was a trip.
His car (the comet convertible) that he used for the movie sold recently for $18k. About the average price for those cars, but if you are a big fan of the movie, it would be cool to own.
I remember being a kid and seeing Swingers promoted and thinking those guys seemed SO COOL for being a bunch of friends making a movie together. I had no idea it was made for only $250k!
I'm not a film guy but I love hearing about the movie-making process, especially for the more indie stuff. It shows that great electronic media gets made when talented people build relationships with each other, get a good idea and a little money, and are allowed to work without undue input from non-artists.
Jon Favreau's "Dinner for Five" was the first time I realized how hard films are to script, cast, direct, edit. To get that spark in the can is bottleling lightning.
I remember this movie cause the 1st time i saw it i was going through my first real break up. The whole concept of no contact with my ex was a new experience and it went against my natural response, but after watching this movie i stopped calling/txting her. Just like the movie soon as i got over her she messaged me out of seemingly nowhere and it was weird cause at that point i had not only deleted her number out of my phone, but when she reached out i felt nothing. I remember having this weird separation moment where i legitimately couldnt understand how i could feel like this when if you asked me 5 months earlier it would have been all i wanted and now i felt so little that i wasnt even angry. It felt weird cause i dont think i even replied back when i found out who it was.
Pretty incredible to think how impactful some people can be on the lives of so many. I'm not always too thrilled by the big, noisy 'blockbuster' films these days, but someone like Favreau really seems like he's experienced enough of lives ups and downs that he's able to couple that with genuine intuition about how to entertain. Not too surprising that you can take someone like that, let them take calculated risks and voila; a mighty impressive career.
"Because you lost my carpet cleaning van...goodbye!" is a good response that I use quite frequently in my everyday conversations to help move the day along. "Under no circumstances...should you open the package before you leave this office...goodbye!
I lived in LA County in the early nineties. Had a family member who wrote spec scripts. These characters are so spot on for the time and the culture. Good humored look at LA and Vegas at that time.
This is a really great video, so no complaints on the quality, but I would have thrown in a bit about PCU, which Favreau did after Rudy and before Swingers. PCU is such a funny movie and it's a shame that it is completely unavailable.

New favorite youtube channel. Thank you, absolutely brilliant!
I saw Swingers in the theater. Everyone in the audience stood up, cheered and clapped when Mike hung up on his ex girlfriend. Such an epic scene!
Favreau just seems limitless in keeping his wonder and awe alive in all his projects and keeps his soul forever young and lets the viewer take in his vision, what a ride!
Thanks for up the video
Wow, never new this. Thank you for researching and publishing this. Awesomeness!
Such well made content, gotta love it 🫶
You also sound just like Skill Up 😳
this, it drove me nuts
Great Video! Eagerly Eagerly awaiting the next part.
Love this guy and don’t realize how much this movie was a “make or break” kind of moment for him
Thanks for the research
I really love your commentary and the way you break films down. Thank you!
Dude you sound exactly like SkillUp, excellent video btw.
That's what I thought too!
This was great. Glad "I" found it. Always knew Favreau was a force. Nice to hear a bit of proof backstory. thanks. subbed.
This is incredible. Thank you very much. You're helping people with this.
Great story! So many stars came out of this. Always remember how they screened this at Cal Berkeley when I was there and then I saw a friend in it because another friend was the script supervisor for the film and wrote them into the scene!
The answering machine scene is legendary.
Honestly Swingers helped me get through a breakup when I was 19. I have always adored this movie
That was a very cool end shot 👏🏽
Swingers reminds me of a great time in my life. My friends and I watched it on a loop. Iconic!
This movie is a classic! When I was in the early days on my Navy career, living in Hawaii, these were my friends. We lived this in a sense. We all loved this movie and in a way became our mantra. Lol. Rolled up to parties playing Pick up the Pieces. 😂. Was a fun time in my life. Classic characters and music. Love it.
Haha just got done with 6 months of backpacking in Ecuador including 3 months teaching English in Tena glad to hear you liked the city. Ecuador is probally one of my favorite countrys Ive been to happy to hear you like it as well
Jon made Marvel Disney, and Disney threw it away. Jon saved Star Wars Disney, and...
Great video! Thought this was about Vince, but was pleasantly surprised to learn about Jon. Had no clue he is a writer, director or any of those things other that an actor.
Yesterday I see this video with a thumbnail of Jon Favreau. Today, it’s been changed to Vince Vaughn. Make it make sense
Ye ol algorithm things
just discovering your channel thru that video and i'm mesmerized. Everything is perfect. Supa interesting, narration in on top, rythm too. keep up that great work, that's fckn impressive ! props to you !
Loved swingers when it came out. The crazy thing is I think we’re still on Favreau’s up swing.
My friends and I had just graduated college in '97 and would be quoting this movie nonstop. A few years later when I lived in LA visiting all the night clubs shown in the movie was a trip.
Scene It is the goat
Great video analysis ! And a great film!!!
Swingers is still one of my all time favorite rewatchables! So money!
mine too.
love this movie!!!
His car (the comet convertible) that he used for the movie sold recently for $18k. About the average price for those cars, but if you are a big fan of the movie, it would be cool to own.
really well done overview! I will now be watching Swingers later after 15 years
Why is Vince on the cover of the video?
Literally 💀
He’s the star of the movie
Nice job putting this together!
Jon really said: *“Fine, I’ll do it myself”*
I remember being a kid and seeing Swingers promoted and thinking those guys seemed SO COOL for being a bunch of friends making a movie together. I had no idea it was made for only $250k!
I'm sure the first time I saw him was in Friends.
Wow, I didn't know how talented this dude was. Underrated for sure.
So proud of u was here b4 20k
Bro your edit is good.
Swingers is a classic
I'm not a film guy but I love hearing about the movie-making process, especially for the more indie stuff. It shows that great electronic media gets made when talented people build relationships with each other, get a good idea and a little money, and are allowed to work without undue input from non-artists.
Jon Favreau's "Dinner for Five" was the first time I realized how hard films are to script, cast, direct, edit. To get that spark in the can is bottleling lightning.
youre like a bear with these claws and youre just batting the bunny
Vince was so so proud when John finally got All Growds Up
I remember this movie cause the 1st time i saw it i was going through my first real break up.
It felt weird cause i dont think i even replied back when i found out who it was.
first time watching your videos and this was amazing to hear the story behind a face ive seen all my life.
1:30 Walk it like they Tawlk it.
nice video man. well done.
Great vid dude. You missed him in Seinfeld though. Lazy clown.
eric the clown babyyyyy
@@SceneItReviews "You're stuck in the past man, hung up on some clown from the 60s."
that video is wonderfully enjoyable. thank you
One could never get an extra to give such a convincingly hostile look as at 8:07
Just brilliant
Thank you for telling this story!
I love the guy, but i will never forgive him for what he did to The Lion King
Still haven’t seen it
I tried those crash games you mentioned. They’re definitely a rush. Think you’ll stick with them
9:45, A lot more to talk about? Too easy man see you soon
Great video, thanks!
This place is dead anyway...
Great video once again! You really make these videos very captivating, keep it up!
Great video - had no idea. I wonder whether Favreau and Vince Vaughn are still friends.
This is so inspirational! Also, Jon Favreau stole the show in that movie "The Replacements" with Keanu Reeves.
