Very true, also the things all of the guests have said about JEW shows how well respected they are and that they were truly trailblazers in their genre.
Back in 2001 I arrive at college. Everyone on our dorm floor is figuring out each other’s musical tastes. One day this dude plays Screaming Infidelities for me and my mind was BLOWN. He heard me listening to it over and over. Shortly thereafter he’s like, ok, have you heard of Jimmy Eat World? ... Jimmy Whirl? Who? ... he plays For Me This is Heaven. NUKE. hooked for LIFE. ..... almost 20 years later to see these two yukkin it up casually is just awesome! here’s to another 20 🤘
Please bring in Anthony Green he just commented on your Ig post about this!! Y’all could talk about so much from songwriting to touring to life and in so many aspects since you’re both fathers and both also sober too! Would be a dream to have my two fave frontmen in a pod together and talking and chilling how you do in these would be incredible! 🙏🙏 also really enjoyed this one too!
Hey, Jim, you should have Courtney Marie Andrews on your show! Obviously you know she toured with you guys like 10 years ago on keys and backup vocals, but since then she's made incredible solo albums that are critically acclaimed. She'd be the BEST guest on this show, and you already know each other!
I dig what Chris said about waking up at 3am. I have always written best in the hours between 2-5 am (back when I could). There is almost like...less cosmic confusion in the energy around you. Folks are sleeping and the energy in your surroundings is quaint. Maybe even more peaceful. So whatever lets those songs in when you put the antenna up comes to you much easier because there's no interference from conscious minds creating cosmic confusion...Or...Something like that...hehehe :-/ Everything is energy, and music exists on frequencies and waves that are more likely to be absorbed when most folks around you are peacefully asleep.
Chris is one of my musical heroes thank you for doing this one!!!!! Love all the episodes so far. Jim, you definitely need to do a studio tour and it would be very cool to see your guests setups as well.
I was seriously about to pack up my creative dreams but listening to you two talk so humbly and down to earth makes me feel like picking my guitar up again. Thanks guys.
I love watching these because I can relate to so much of what they say. It's Awe inspiring to know that these multi-million dollar artists go through the same songwriting struggles as everyone else. I remember I had quit my band, I had like 3 or 4 notebooks full of song ideas. I married my wife and years later she took up the guitar and after a couple months of learning she started writing music. She asked me randomly one night "I'm having trouble with this one part. I can't decide what to do here." for some reason when she played the part, my mind shot back to some random song burried in one of the notebooks. I dug them out and tracked it down. She used it for about 2 days then ended up changing it up a bit and fit something else in, but it's amazing how a song can just randomly take place out of nowhere sometimes.
This was so interesting. I feel like I'm eavesdropping on a zoom call between two of my favorite performers. Also, if y'all recorded something together it would make the world a better place.
Omg! That intro “ad” was epic. This series, consequently, is really making me want a JA-90 pretty bad! I wish they came with a signature case like the Shiflett though.
Mesmerizing... I feel like a fly on the wall listening in on two of my musical heroes talking openly and honestly without worrying if I understand everything. Love it!
I've waited so long for a series like this Jim! You are already my punk rock father, but this series is just incredible. So much insight and I love the discussions on writing and creative processes. So good, don't stop!
Adorable, love watching these; guest perspectives are unique, fun, deep, and contain great dialogues of how everyone’s creative processes evolve/transform their musical craft🤘🏼
I’m a massive fan of both of you guys and was so excited to see this episode pop up. Would love to see a full tour of your studio space. Love these videos!
Wonderful talk! I look to both of you for alot of my songwriting inspiration. The letting the song take control and letting go of what you may have felt was the important part is something I need to give a go more often.
I love this show. The Lead Singet Syndrome Podcast feat. Jim Adkins lead me here and now I can't wait to see Shane Told on this show... hopefully. Either way. This is awesome.
This is a great episode! Thank you for sharing these conversations with us. Could I propose Dennis Jagard for an episode? I met him at one of your shows a few years back, when he was sound engineering for y'all. He seems like a really cool guy.
It's so weird. I've never seen Chris live with a beard. It looks so off. I remember seeing him solo live on a big stage at a punkrock/hardcore festival. It was quite unique (because normally they perform in a small tent), emotional and perfect.
The best thing about lockdown is that artists go "fuck it, grab the drone, we're going to a cliff and making a fender ad because there is NOTHING ELSE TO DO"
It's crazy to hear you guys talk about the same/only writing methods I know of and dealing with the muse etc. - I guess you assume people with successful records are in on some secret but not really, they just do it better lol.
As much as I love music, It's hard for me to write my own music. As much as I practice playing the guitar for the past 16 years, I can't do it. So I've down loaded Music Studio in the apple app store and am able to create with what I can. I've asked my close friend to send me a track of whatever guitar songs he's made so I can collaborate with that. The interesting about it is that, his music was a guide to how I wrote anything because I would mute his track, write something to coexist with it. the song came out amazing! The best part for me is the fact that the track that he sent me was a great song alone. Then What I've added to it made it better. But then If you were to mute his track, my song alone is just amazing (to me) by itself! Almost two separate songs. So I've always felt that I need a guide or an band/orchestra to help release the music that I can barley express myself.
The Fender guitar ad had me crying.
I thought the same thing!
One of my favorite things about this podcast is learning how fucking hilarious Jim is
@@WaitingForTheHook I know right?
after that one they gotta give him bread for any video he makes lmao
Lol I have an American telecaster hollowbody with humbuckers I bought myself for 2000$ when I was 15. It's my baby.
It speaks volumes to how well liked Jim and the rest of JEW are when the podcast guest list is star after star.
Very true, also the things all of the guests have said about JEW shows how well respected they are and that they were truly trailblazers in their genre.
good point
Dustin Kensrue of Thrice would make a great interview.
YESS!!
Hell yea!
These 2 guys literally sang the soundtrack of my college days.
Hahaha. You must’ve been one melancholic dude throughout your youth.
Same here

I had a similar experience in 2001 as I went off to college.
Great story. Where did you guys go to college?
"In the end...it doesn't even matter?"
I see what you did there!
Kevin Brown he tried so hard...
meii _ and got so far...
.....I'm kinda glad Jim looked like he heard the car crash in his head.
Omg you hiked camelback just for that shot, Fender needs to use you for jingles on the radio, well done!
I'm entirely too dumb for this series, but I love every moment of it.
Saaaammmeee.
I hope you can get Tom DeLonge or Rivers Cuomo to your show. Keep these going!
Tom, yes. Rivers, no.
Andres Salazar Why not Rivers?

YES! Anthony would be fantastic!!
yes!!!!
That would be amazing. Also, does anyone else think they could pass as bros?
These fender ads keep getting better and better
Would love to see Andrew McMahon on here! He's a brilliant songwriter and a big fan of yours so it'd be a perfect fit!
Yessss
The first star you see may not be a star
ThePandemicLight 2nd that. Andrew is a class act.

Love this series! Please bring on Tom DeLonge
Heck yes
@Parker Grant yeah they did
I hope Chris is feeling better after his accident. Great guy.
It's weird to hear Jim say "my seventeen year old son" lol
These podcasts are legendary
Chris is one of my musical heroes thank you for doing this one!!!!! Love all the episodes so far. Jim, you definitely need to do a studio tour and it would be very cool to see your guests setups as well.
Best guitar ad ever :D
These two guys WERE my freshman year of college. Cool to listen to them chat and fun to know they’re friends.
You are two of my favorite musicians ever. This was such a treat.
Oh my God that fender guitar intro 🤣🤣🤣
I was seriously about to pack up my creative dreams but listening to you two talk so humbly and down to earth makes me feel like picking my guitar up again.
Thanks guys.
I'm living for the new Fender guitar promo at the beginning. That just made my day.

The aliens got him RIP
This has fast become one of my favorite podcasts!
This was so interesting. I feel like I'm eavesdropping on a zoom call between two of my favorite performers. Also, if y'all recorded something together it would make the world a better place.
That ad just made my day. Actually laughed out loud multiple times.
two of my biggest inspirations talking together. love this!
Such a cool series! This is so cool. Super cool theme and Chris is AWESOME!
These are just so damn enjoyable!! Your Fender ad game is on another level now, hahaha.
I love you both! You both were the bands I listened to in my college years
That Fender guitar sponsored ad had me in stitches.
Love it!
THE FENDER GUITAR SONG YOU MADE LOL, SO GOOD
This is a great series Jim. Great guests and quality conversations.
Best Fender ad yet.
Jim, this series is great, I love it. You are bringing in all the artists I listened to 20 years ago.... and ever since. Thank you!
I've waited so long for a series like this Jim! You are already my punk rock father, but this series is just incredible. So much insight and I love the discussions on writing and creative processes. So good, don't stop!
Seen and met you both lived and loved you both since age 12
Man these videos are like crack for me. Between these and rig rundowns I'm spoilt. Looking forward to seeing more!
Adorable, love watching these; guest perspectives are unique, fun, deep, and contain great dialogues of how everyone’s creative processes evolve/transform their musical craft🤘🏼
Your Fender Jingle was absolutely epic!
Jim and Chris are the nicest guys, this podcast series is class.
OMG!!! The fender ad... 🤣🤣🤣 fantastic 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Music CAN feel like a curse sometimes. Thank you Jim for posting these conversations.
That intro was a masterpiece.. Fender for life
The Fender montage was awsome Jim!
Fender should definitely hire Jim as head of marketing. That's the best guitar ad I've ever seen! 🤘😂
Wow!! Now I'm feeling young again hearing this two he he
The Fender ad I straight up thought was GBV... hahaha
That looks like Wayne's basement. But that's not Wayne's basement. Weeeeeeeeeeired.
These shows are fantastic! It’s good to get to know artists I wouldn’t normally pay attention to.
Stupidly trivial question after such a wonderful interview but WHERE IS THAT COFFEE MUG FROM ITS GLORIOUS?!
I saw both of you guys within a few months of each other. It was my 2 favorite shows ever. Seeing you guys tour together would be amazing
Keep this series going Jim! It’s awesome!
haha the fender ad in the beginning
I’m a massive fan of both of you guys and was so excited to see this episode pop up. Would love to see a full tour of your studio space. Love these videos!

Oh my glob! The damn Fender ad is epic as all gets out 🤣
I’d love to see him chat with Ben Folds. A conversation with a piano based musician who also has his fingers in many different pies and styles.
+1000 for this
@@colourmafia it needs to be done. My 2 favourites band/artists.
Loving these interviews and this series. Great content. Great job & hope it continues for years to come!
You carried a Fender Guitar up Camelback Mountain? Well earned!
Chris Carrabba will always be my favorite song writer 💗
Absolutely in love with this new series!
Great interview..love both artists
These are great, keep doing what your doing man! Love it!
Ha! I was at that Wayne Firehouse show
Loving all the recording ideas
I love this show. The Lead Singet Syndrome Podcast feat. Jim Adkins lead me here and now I can't wait to see Shane Told on this show... hopefully. Either way. This is awesome.
I grew up listening to these dudes and I've aged more than them
Love these interviews!
Lol wow those Fender intros are getting better and better!
A full stage with curtains in the home studio, Jim? Well played.
love you guys!
Patty Walters from AS IT IS would be a sick interview! All of their records and writing processes deserve to be talked about more
these get me through my work days!!!!!
This is a great episode! Thank you for sharing these conversations with us.
Could I propose Dennis Jagard for an episode? I met him at one of your shows a few years back, when he was sound engineering for y'all. He seems like a really cool guy.
Please invite ben gibbard 😀
I would die if this happened
Noone should die, but...
@@jimmyeatworld Tease. 😉 💕 Now I really can't wait for upcoming episodes. 😁😁😁
yessss
When did Chris turn into Zoltar?
It's so weird. I've never seen Chris live with a beard. It looks so off. I remember seeing him solo live on a big stage at a punkrock/hardcore festival. It was quite unique (because normally they perform in a small tent), emotional and perfect.
*Jimmy's Confessional.*
YES!
liked based on the intro commercial alone!
The best thing about lockdown is that artists go "fuck it, grab the drone, we're going to a cliff and making a fender ad because there is NOTHING ELSE TO DO"
I love Chris. Like A LOT. but what do you guys think he’s done to his face ? He looks so different to me.
Eyebrows and beard change the look of a face a lot.
Look at pre beard videos. He's definitely had work done
Holy cow so many line6 modelers Jim!
Lol I have the same guitar as jim and the same microphone as chris. Now all I need is the studio ✌😅👌
I just completed and tweeted #saveourstages!! 💕🎵🎶💕
Jeeze these are amazing, bring in Matty Healy!
Chris looks like a vampire. Sounds like a friendly one though
It's crazy to hear you guys talk about the same/only writing methods I know of and dealing with the muse etc. - I guess you assume people with successful records are in on some secret but not really, they just do it better lol.
In Breezy by Bright Eyes there's a line, "Help me play this song/
Spend another night inside this practice mansion"
I love that Chris isn't wearing pants
