accessories.hi...
We currently have the contents of FIVE 40 foot sea containers full of British made motorcycles & spares from the 50's through to the early 70’s which include such famous names as Triumph, BSA, Norton, Royal Enfield, AJS and Matchless including some of the more rare and obscure brands like Coventry Eagle and Velocette.
I drive a semi,40 years now, based in the NYC metro area.
Cover parts of 5 states.
I own a BSA twin,and an RE S ll.
When I saw the driver backing around the tree...
Understood!Been there done that.
Nice job to try to make it safer for the drivers, with the fields, dip, etc.
Believe me,most people don't give a damn.
Then,if I refused to put myself in a dangerous situation,I'm the bad guy.
Safety First...?No, Hurry Up.
Wow,what a task.
With all that stuff available now, perhaps some young blood
may be interested in a vintage machine.
Hope so.
Alan is seemingly motivated by passion, not money, and he has done well.
A class act.
This lot was saved from the scrapper.
Thanks for the encouragement
Glad to see this collection of bikes and parts going to a good home. Lots of work done to get it across the pond...Bravo.
That is definitely a labor of love. If Hitchcock's didn't do this then all that stuff would have ended up in railroad gondola cars on the way to a smelter, probably in China. I honestly hope Hitchcock's makes money on this. God knows they earned it.
Labor of love... Have you seen the prices?
Wow , you could make years of UA-cam videos on this collection. Thanks for sharing and good luck 🍻
Personally I am excited someone will actually sort, catalog, and offer for sale these motorcycles and parts. That is so much better than rusting to scrap in a barn. It's always sad to see great "things" turned in to yard scrap! You may well have saved all this from becoming just that.
Absolutely, thanks for the positive words
Bloody amazing. What a job.
I have been in the British motorcycle business for over 45 years and had a sell off like that in 2017 and filled 2 lorries worth (99,000 lbs). That all came from buys like this one. It is amazing how many more BSA Bob's there are here in the USA. I am down to my last 100 motorcycles from a high of 258. It is great to see this stuff back in circulation! Bill from JRC Engineering inc.
Absolutely kudos to everyone involved in this task, respect to all❤️❤️
Looking like the restoring enthusiasts will have a nice supply for several years to come. 😎
That’s an awesome sight!
Wow amazing !
Michigan, where I live, seems to have been a hotspot for British motorcycles-I knew of a number of large collections of bikes like this-"British Only", a business near me, had almost as many bikes and parts as your hoard. There was "India Motorcycles" in Ann Arbor, and numerous other small businesses and swap meet dealers with big stashes of bikes and parts. Motorcycle swap meets in the Detroit area used to be amazing, with the amount and variety of bikes and parts available, and the big Antique Motorcycle assn meet in nearby Wauseon, Ohio was the place where you could find just about any part or any brand of bike you could think of. We have a big bike show every year around here, called "Battle of the Brits"-not all the bikes went back to England-there's plenty of them here, still.
Repatriation ignores the fact that the US saved the British MC industry in the 50's So now these machines are no longer available in the country they originally were sold in.
As a US collector and restorer it is hard to see these all go overseas, but I admit that the market does seem to be stronger there. Unfortunately the market for unrestored British antique and vintage motorcycles is just not particularly strong here in the US right now.
We have plenty of collections like that here in the US ,all these old guys hoarding bikes for decades now there dying from old age.
I need Royal Enfield Continental GT 535cc parts
I want to thank the folks at Hitchcocks for saving this collection. As one poster put it "all that stuff would have ended up in railroad gondola cars on the way to a smelter." This is so true. Just a cursedly look reveals so many wonderful bikes that deserve to be preserved. I find it ironic that all these bikes and parts are being collected and shipped home to their point or origin.
Most of it still will end up in a smelter in a decade or two
Great job to save all those bikes and spares , I just hope that they go to people who will fix them up and actually ride them rather than being another one for the collection .
Unbelievable
ive often wondered where all the old British bike went from the 1960s, as a kid everyone had one, no one could afford a car and triumphs, BSA, ariel, RE, norton were literally everywhere you went, anyone with a job had a motorbike (or so it seemed) all them bikes wouldn't have been scrapped and melted down though la ot were, there must be 100.000s of bikes somewhere, you could buy none runners for £10-£20 and play with them on pit heaps, we had AJS, James,Villiers, BSA bikes when we were at school for the tracks,
Wow, what an incredible amount to pack up and ship overseas. Really an epic task and you guys pulled it off. Congrats!
Thanks for the positive words
Absolutely incredible, these items are in the right hands imo.
What an incredible haul! How are you going to store all that in the UK? A nice problem to have. Congratulations!
The hard work of moving an Aladin's Cave from one country to another, in fact it's more a gold mine that an Aladin's Cave. Well done for saving it all, given time all those bikes and parts will find a new lease of life.
The cold didn't do anything, your government did.
Blimey! What a task. The bikes definitely went to the right people. 👍
As an American enthusiast of vintage British bikes, it’s been interesting watching bikes and parts repatriating back to the UK. I was at a large swap meet one time and some deep pocketed Brits and Aussies were driving up the prices. One upset person lamented all the stuff leaving the US and I had to remind him it was imported here to begin with. A lot of British iron ended up here and this hoard is nothing compared to the wave of Boomers downsizing and shedding their collections. Still lots of nice bikes here. I’ve started saving Nortons. You can have all your unit Triumphs and BSAs back!
That's a whole lot of heaven right there. Looking forward to viewing your site.
Incredible find, good luck with it.
An astonishing task taken on by people who care.
Could you make a big bore kit for the hunter 350. More than 150,000 units sold so far. I've purchased one my self.
Id have nightmares thinking about putting them parts on ebay lol
unbelievable what I see.
THANK GOD FOR YOU GUYS👍🏻
no thanks
It's probably just my imagination but it seems as though BSAs, and their bits, dominate this impressive hoard. I wonder why......
Well done guys, what a ridiculous task!
How much for a rusty old wheel ? 200 quid I expect 🤣🤣
I bet you'll get alot of interest from Indians.
It’s amazing what’s still out there
It is said by some that when you are doing something you love, it`s not really Work...... Well go and find them and show them what you have to do!!!!! That should shut them up..... :-)))
Well done, I may be in contact about a BSA speedo soon enough.
Incredible !
