I go to a really small school (well, comparitively), and our guard is very old-traditional...so we don't do anything like this. But I have been taking steps further. As the first male (of 2 this year) to EVER be on my schools color guard, I've been self-teaching myself things I see from videos like this. I'm told now I'm the best at my school but...that's my fellow student's opinion. I just want to say that it's these guards, (notably the other guys in them) that inspire me to always get better.
performing at WGI finals is a pretty big deal. You only get that far by giving everything you have, and searching for more to give. Finishing a finals performance in Dayton is one of the most emotional moments for a WGI performer
My Guard is going to Wgi world championships next year. I'm excited. I cried when my director told me that we are going. It's going to be an honor and a dream fulfilled

I drove 6 hours every friday morning my senior year of HS to march a world guard in SC because there were only A guards in my area (and I had already marched 3 years with one). It was exhausting, and REALLY hard to drive back 6 hours after a full weekend up rehearsals..but it was the best season I've ever had!

That was utterly beautiful. I've been too scared to watch any WGI performances because I don't want to compare how awful our high school winterguard team is to amazing performances like these guards.

I still really wish I was able to do any of this.
Remember, you can keep spinng in summer with a DCA corps. I did it from 45-49. Everyone in my family thought I was crazy O.o but it was great.
