    I'm glad I can now convert the 944 that I don't have to manual steering. ✓

    Your the first guy I've seen on youtube that actually put the effort in doing what in my level headed opinion is the better way every teenage youtuber ive seen is too lazy and they just loop the high and return lines

    What size pipe plugs did you end up using? I'd rather know before disassembling everything if possible. Thanks!

    I’ve had enough of trying to make my power steering work. Completed a reseal, but am still getting power steering one way only! Time to switch to manual…. :)

    You'll love the extra feel, im still working out the caster settings to make the car flow a bit better while drifting non powered. I might have to offset plate the coilover mounts.

      I don’t remember how much caster I’m running right now. How did you handle Ackerman change when adding angle?

      By changing the position of the tie rod pivot point farther in it mitigates alot of the downfalls, the current version is far from perfect but i want to see how it feels because there is still about 2 degrees of Ackerman

    • @Skater3z3b
      @Skater3z3b 5 років тому +1

      It really doesnt have extreme angle, honestly its only about 5 degrees better than my S13 was.. next revision will hopefully be closer to angle kits that other chassis have

    How do you retime the opinion and rack so the steering wheel is oriented correctly? Thanks!

    • @BoostBrothersGarage
      @BoostBrothersGarage 4 роки тому

      You can do it where the steering shaft connects to the rack or by reclocking the steering wheel

    I went with buying a manual rack...possibly from the same company, although I had good customer service. It was a rack from a 924, one of the last ones they had, but he had found equivalent racks from I think it was a VW Scirroco, that they currently sell. Supposedly a true manual rack is easier to turn than my de-powered, I.E. I took the belt of power rack. And a properly de-powered rack, like the one you just saw, I think is somewhere in between.

    • @BoostBrothersGarage
      @BoostBrothersGarage 5 років тому

      I have heard the same things! I have a true 924 manual rack for my widebody build. Glad to hear the customer service was good for you. I haven’t dealt with them personally which is why I didn’t name any names.

    • @glencoad737
      @glencoad737 5 років тому +1

      yes, I used a 924 manual rack and sold my original rack to pay for it. The 924 rack was narrower than the 88 944 rack so a stretched tie rod had to be made. I suspect that there are many VW Audi parts that would work with the aforementioned custom tie rods.

    • @BoostBrothersGarage
      @BoostBrothersGarage 5 років тому

      I bought the proper manual tie rods, however I assume those are for an early offset car and I’ll have to do some sort of stretch as well.

    • @77magnuss
      @77magnuss 5 років тому

      I have an ‘86 which is an early offset. I think the guy who sold it to me set it up so I wouldn’t have to do anything...it’s been over a year since I bought it, hopefully going on the car soon.

      Just be aware the ratio of a manual 924 rack is different. The power racks are ‘faster’ by comparison. There was never a PS option for the 2.0L 924, only the 924S had it and not all of them did.

  • @swstump

      ok,. I give up. I"ve watched this video at least a dozen times, and I can't figure out what you're using to lock the spindley shaft so you don't get the 11 degree deflection. Any hint would be greatly appreciated, since I almost have my rack out of the car.

      Steel stick. A good welder with a tig and the tungsten stuck way out and the gas way up would be ideal.
