Most of the time it’s steam from the product but if it’s just cooking or singing the hair it could cause damage. But not all steam means it’s damaging.

I have a 2a long thick and wayvy hair i use a padle brush mostly but anybody eith better knowledge on brushes i should use for my hair type let me know this video was somewhat helpfull but also not
DO NOT USE CHEAP PLSSTIC COMBS! ON HAIR OR ESPECIALLY BEARD! Use a Carbon Fiber Comb(Amazon 3 for 2.99), Cellulose Acetate comb( Kent Combs), or my personal favorite Ox horn comb. All these u can get on Amazon and you will never go back to the cheap ones after experiencing one of thsse.

You don’t have to shave it unless the neck hairs are lower than the length you want it
