You are a wonderfully talented songwriter, Catherine. Your words paint the most vivid pictures and your gorgeous voice frames them in a way that captures our attention and won't let it go. This is an example of the best songwriting, my good friend, a beautifully poetic lyric and a melody that nurtures the words and lets them grow. I love it. Encore, ma belle amie.
You are far too kind with your praise, Robin! Still finding my feet but writing is definitely starting to flow more easily now. Thank you for the constant encouragement 😊😊
Wow, Catherine-you are really hitting it out of the park already in 2025 (pls excuse the baseball metaphor if you are not fan!). Great job with this song from all angles-singing and playing and writing. And I can *totally* relate to the feeling of intrusive thoughts (caffeine and ADHD for me), and finding some solace/focus in writing and playing music. Looking forward to hearing more of what the year brings!
She can't control the whirling mess that's running wild inside her mind,
Can't curb the chaos of the thoughts rudely intruding
She sits rooted like the tree, its leaves descending to the ground
While those around her make assumptions she is brooding
Wait x4
She questions each and every word that's ever fallen from her mouth
Ponders whether she could make her meaning clearer
Then picks apart every response, for some deeper hidden meaning
Did they mean the things they said or is she dreaming?
Wait x8
She seeks her peace amongst the clouds, looks for calm amid the crowd,
And from the first note she can feel her soul reviving
The buzzing starts to quiet down,
Elusive comfort she has found
The music pours out from her heart and she is thriving
Wait x8

@@TomPennerMusic yeah- my brain never shuts up so I might as well take advantage and write songs at least 😁
The lilting is beautiful. The wait makes me think of emotional weight, META!!!! PS rocking progreasion
@@byrdfynger it was intended to be ambiguous in its meaning and I debated whether to call it Wait or Weight 😁
