  • Attract Purple Martins by playing this video load during the migration season. This is a loop of Day Time Chatter and Dawn Song. You can buy a CD from various birding retailers, but I use a Bluetooth speaker connected to my cell phone and play this video. Any martins in the area will hear it and follow the sound thinking there is a nesting sight near by. If the martins do not stay then there is likely something about your housing setup that is not idea to them.
If the video helps, give a like and post a comment letting us know where your colony is located. Mine is near La Grange, Texas! Greetings everyone, good luck!

Thank you. This is my first pole and only seeing tree swallows. Any advice? I read to move the gourd off the rack when they nest and move it to a hook.

Sorry I just saw you comment. If you are seeing tree swallows that seems to indicate that you are in a good spot. Since it has been 3 weeks since your comment, just wondering if you ever got any martins?

Still fighting off the swallows. When I’m in the yard working I play your Martin chatter and they will fly over and investigate. I am unsure if I’ll get any at this point but next year I will keep my gourds down for much much longer for hopes of some of 2nd years.
