As alumni of Manufacturing school, I can tell you why the numbering system doesn't make sense! From what I know, during WW2, Cranfield airport was one of the airports in use for fighters so they had to number building awkwardly so that Nazi's cannot bomb the buildings using their logic. By logic, you would know Building 2 is next to B3 but it's not the case with Cranfield Uni. It's just an interesting story. I mean, it took me almost forever to remember and match the number of buildings and actual building location, you don't really use all the campus' buildings (for me 5-7 buildings maximum). So once you get used to the ones you go to, personally I think it's not really a big deal.
That's really cool! Thank you! I was told it was to do with the heritage of the university, but no one told me why! I think it causes some problems for new students, but I guess if it's a part of the WW2 history, then it's understandable.
It depends. The university sponsor very few PhDs. Most students will get some form of sponsorship from either their own country (British students that's usually a UKRI or charity) or a private company; or both. Some students, particularly international students, self-fund their PhDs.
No and Yes! Postgraduate only! Situated in England. Cranfield doesn't require that you have an undergraduate degree to do a masters if you can show industrial experience/knowledge. Some degrees offer "pre masters" which are a year for people who don't quite make the cut, to have a chance to learn and gain the skills they need for a masters degree.
I’ve been looking for a video like this about Cranfield for a long time !
