I put a back propagation net on my Altair 8800 a few months ago, I've been meaning to make a video. Takes 12 hours for one iteration!

Would it be possible to use the built-in storage like memory? Although it would be much slower it is technically possible.

Definitely possible, good thinking! It would indeed be hugely slower, but it would expand the size of the network that could be loaded. With a USB drive as "storage", even a modern LLM could technically be executed: that would be a fun one to try.

You could make an dongle with an esp and use the ChatGPT API

Indeed, I could have done so, but it's been done (c.f. e.g. www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19941). I wanted to run "AI" directly on the calculator, as I figured it was a more impressive technical feat.
