I've suffered with anxiety for the better part of 15 years, and becoming a cat momma for the first time this year I was surprised to learn that my babies' purrs have calmed my mind more than anything else by a mile
Yes! I deal with depression and anxiety, and what is great about my cat is she can tell when I'm feeling down she will jump in my lap and purr LOUD. She normally makes a soft purr sound, but when I'm feeling bad she knows it somehow and hangs out with me and turns up the volume.❤😺
oh my god... i can´t express how much my cats help me with my mental health. I used to have morning anxieties, but since I have Nim bad mornings are pretty much gone. She almost always comes up to me, when I wake up or she sleeps in my arms all night. She is probably my real live spirit animal. Then I got Loki, which is probably spirit animal to Nim :D
I sat in a pub once, a long time ago with my boyfriend. A large ginger tomcat came over to me, said hello to me and then insisted on draping himself around my neck, purring away like a motorbike. This was the first time I'd met this cat, or had much to do with a cat at all. He was purring so loudly I couldn't hear much else. I carefully took him off, fussed him a bit and set him down. Then he climbed into the table and around my neck again. The landlord of the pub came over smiling and said this was strange, since he only usually does that with pregnant women. We laughed since it would be too early to tell either way. A week later, one thing and another, I did a test. Guess what? That was me pregnant. The cat knew before anyone else!
A fur baby I had for 20 years knew when I was getting sick before I did. He'd get very clingy, and wouldn't leave me alone. I learned to trust his instincts and call my doctor when he'd act like that, after he knew I was having a heart attack. When I got home from the hospital, you'd think if he was going to lay near the "hurt" area, he'd lay by my angioplasty wound in my groin, right? Nope. He laid near my heart. I wish he'd taught my other kitty how to do that before he died.
My anecdote about "healing purrs"...When I had a kidney infection my cat knew, she would NOT leave my side, not even to eat. I would get up 1000 times to go to the bathroom, and she went with me every single time. My partner and I had to wait all night until shops opened to get meds, and so as I laid in pain on the couch, she laid right beside me (something she never does) and purred and purred. It was like she knew not to sit on my belly, which is what she would normally do, and she stayed with me purring until my partner was able to get meds and come back with them! When he came back she ran to the door and very urgently meowing...like she was saying "help her! help my girl!" and once he got me medicated and feeling better, only then did she eat. Cats can be so fiercely loyal and loving.
Wow me too. I had a bowel blockage surgery in Dec. I was in the hospital 2 weeks & I had neighbors check on her & my husband flew home so he was there to sleep & for a couple hours in between his morning & evening visit but no me. When I got home a few days past the 2 week mark. I was cut up half my whole belly from as low as he could start to past my belly button I had staples the first week home. Tasha ALWAYS walked on me in bed & she is a large frame & 5 pounds over weight. She is 27 pounds!!!! I could not life more than 5 pounds. She got in bed next to me & laid against my side and same thing I wouldn’t pet her yet she kept purring I thought man she missed me. She was glued to me yet didn’t walk on me at all she still has not. I’m not at 100 yet. She is next to me on the couch also she never does that. She sleeps on top of top couch cushion behind my head normally. But now she is at my side & yes purrs more then ever. She follows me everywhere & must be near me. It’s so sweet & makes me feel so loved & so very missed while I was gone. I love her so very much. I am 57 & since I was about 8 years old I have always had a cat or cats normally I had one but my daughter as a young girl wanted her own kitty bcz my calico at the time hated kids bcz the family I rescued her from the mom told me her daughters would chase her all over the house & tease her something terrible. So muffin hated & distrusted children sadly. But my daughter s kitten did adore & love Kelly so very much it was sweet & even as she got older & those cats had passed a month apart oddly. But then she picked out a kitty I got her & I got a rescue as well & they both passed last year oddly a month apart they were a year apart as far as age. Kelly’s car passed so fast. She is married now but she has a new black cat also a rescue & I got Tasha as a kitten a Snow Shoe. My house in IL I have 3 cats there now bcz it’s sooo cold there I feel bad letting feral kittens stay out I found 2 kitten sisters in a barn so I took the Harley home & came back in my truck & brought them home naming one Harley. Then 2 years later a kitten so small a brown gray tabby was coming to drink from my koi pond. She heard the water fall so I started feeding her then end of ocr it was SO cold I took lunch meet to get her in she was only a kitten but feral she would watch us from 2 feet away & lick her lips & blinks eye us but we could not pet her. Then year 3 suddenly it changed in the Familyroom only & our bedroom if we were laying down we could pet her!! She lays in our laps now on the couch sleeps between us. Kids think we switched her out when they come over. Tasha travels back & forth from Chicago to AZ in Fall back to Chicago start of summer then we have 4 cats. Lol my husband must stay in Chicago for work 4 more years til he retires. My pain is SO much better in AZ. I had 4 brain surgeries & have a stimulator in my brain & a battery in my chest but still it helps but in Chicago the pain is too much. I am blessed that we could buy this small place I have to have one of the cats with me tho. I can’t live with out a cat they calm me take down anxiety & it’s not so lonely here with her here. I know this was long but my life long lived & appreciation of cats is a long love story with many many cats that had forever homes with me. Some kittens some came to me as seniors. I can’t say no. I always say A CAT IN NEED....... IS MY CAT INDEED!!! I have had 19 cats total in my life so far. Third grade til 57. Hopefully I will live to be 85 like my mother & I can look forward to many more needy cats in the next 18 years or so. God willing.
I just left my story in another thread about my now deceased kitty who knew when I was getting sick before I did. He did the same thing - very clingy, wouldn't leave me alone. He was so reliable with it I learned to trust his instincts and call the doctor when he'd act like that. He even "diagnosed" when I had a heart attack. Oddly, when I came home from the hospital, he didn't lay next to my groin, where the angioplasty wound was, he laid next to my heart, with his head right on my chest. He's the cat in my profile picture. This picture was actually a few days before he died of old age - 20. He would've just slept in that litter box if I hadn't noticed he couldn't get out by himself anymore. It was time to use a 13x9 pan with short sides as a litter box.
They are incredibly loyal. I've had a cat for 2 years and he is frequently at my side. He sits next to me when I work, sleeps nearby at night, and even waits for me at the window if I am out. He is my first cat. I had no idea they behaved like this!
I was in a hospital for 2 days. When I got home, my cats were happy to see me. They realized I wasn't well, took up to cure me. One on my left, one on my right side both pressed up close to my sides. Both were purring me to a love-filled sleep.
When my late husband was in the hospital with heart failure, he kept asking me to "bring my kitties here". I continually told him why I couldn't. Then our daughter went to the gift shop there and got a small stuffed tabby kitty for him. He would hold that kitty for hours, and seemed to lessen his requests that I bring our cats in. He lasted another 17 days, still holding his stuffed kitty, and asking for his kitties. I often wonder whether it would have made any difference if I had been able to bring them in.
I have 4 and my youngest is a little over a year old and he had never purred. He's got a lot of anxiety and he's realt overstimulated by touch and he's been some work, but I don't mind. I have severe anxiety and even after therapy and years of medication, I still have be m really bad days, so I understand his need for calm, patience, quiet, and routine. Living with my hyper hubby is not always easy, so little Angus and I have really bonded. He will show me to hold him briefly, gives him his and kisses, he'll even come to me for kisses, he loves Ryu be pet and scratched and he's always showing me his belly, so I know he's happy. My hubby was off for 2 weeks at Christmas and Angus, unlike the other 3 cats, wouldn't come around as much. He obviously missed all that love and white my hubby was gone he actuality for in my lap for hugs and kisses and pets and that baby actually purred! Made my entire year. He's not done it again, but I'll take that one time. My kitty actually really loves me and the attention I give him. The others are just ingrates who take me for granted..JK. o know the others love me too, they're always asking for my time, I work from home, I'm always around. But boy howdy, when I do have to go out, they pout, and when I get back they're so excited.
Re: Adult cats meowing only for humans, many years ago we had a cat we allowed to go outdoors, as he stayed in the yard and didn't try to mix it up with other cats. Anyway, he somehow figured out that, when he was sitting outside the sliding door meowing to be let in, we couldn't hear him from the other side of the glass. So, he decided to save his kitty vocal cords -- he would literally MIME a "meow," moving his mouth like he was vocalizing but with zero sound coming out. And it worked; we always knew what he wanted. It was funny and amazing at the same time. RIP, Kersey!
One additional “cat fact” I’ve noticed: when a cat walks, it places its back paw exactly at the spot left by its front paw. A trail left by a cat in the snow reveals this.
Yes, very rarely spoken about topic! 😉 Saw a stray cat do this in the backyard grass while walking sneaky & slowly, even though there were no other cats around or birds. 🤔😀
Good way to know you won't step on something harmful or in something yucky. I just used to wish my cat hadn't done that while walking over my face, but now that he's gone forever, I miss even the annoying things :.(
@@SonsOfLorgar Awe, that really sucks, that such important and loves things in our lives, are only temporary. The loss of a beloved pet, is always a tragic, heartbreaking event. One, that every pet owner has got to experience…I have two cats. A male and a female. They are both twelve years old, and I hope and pray that the both live long and healthy lives…Anyways, I digress. I am sorry about your loss, and I hope that the grieving process lets you out, at the other end. And that you are able to cherish all of the great memories that you and your kitty shared.
My cat 'chats' to me all the time. If I've been out, she'll chat away, rapidly, for quite a while, as if she updating me on all the things that have happened since I left. Even when I'm in, she spends various times of the day, following me around, chirping and meowing away, telling me what she thinks, and probably what she'd rather I was doing. She's a right little chatter-box.
My daughter and I have two cats. Allegro, our male cat has a rather quiet meow. Aria got her name because she meows loudly and loves to "talk" and be talked to.
My "daughter's" cat greeted me with a somewhat suspicious look when I came home from the hospital after a craniotomy. Then he finally jumped up on my bed and gave me the biggest head bump greeting ever, right on the fresh cut that of course was stitched up and sore. So I yelped and he jumped back and then approached again very slowly and started sniffing every stitch very thoroughly. I could hear and feel his breath as he carefully examined the cut. Then he laid down by my hips and curled up to stay. Sometimes purring. Sometimes not but just in the perfect spot to reach back and touch him which would start him purring. So comforting.
I had (life saving) surgery in 2019. My dad and sister tagged driving up and down the country to be with me / look after my cats. Both said my cats were acting weird which surprised me as neither knew my cats. I didn't know what to make of that. From the time I got home from hospital to now (2022), the cats don't leave my side. I'm fine now (unless they know something I don't) but it's still weird how they are just by me wherever I am. Bitter sweet.
I guess you pass your cat's wound exam then. My male cat loves it so much his tale often pops up. BOING! It is one of the signs they love you and want your attention.
I"m not sure if a cat's purring can help humans heal but I have to say that hearing it and feeling the gentle vibrations of the cat's body as it purrs on your lap or against you, is one of the more pleasant experiences in life. There aren't many more things more peacefully pleasurable than that.
I agree! So happy you're having a great experience ☺️ we adopted our first cat a month ago and these videos totally helped her come out of her shell. Can't imagine life any other way besides cat-ified now!
My cats always communicate with each other and me with these special "hmmmm?"s and it's so adorable, almost as if they're trying to say "what's up, you doing something interesting here? Can I join? Give me your attention!"
I’m not sure if it was the emotional response to my cat purring on my lap/chest or the healing effect. But when I had a cat, they always made me feel better during my menstrual cycle.
YES!! It's one of the many things I miss about my late Bastet. She always had a knack for knowing when I was feeling bad, and she'd plop herself onto my lap. Massager and heating pad, all wrapped up in a cute furry package!
Gosh Jackson, you missed the MOST crazy and cool cat fact in this!!? The most shocking cat fact is, in fact.... that cats domesticated themselves. I will legit never get over how cool that is.
I am a full believer that they can heal us too. My late cat Phantom gave me purr sessions same time everyday when I got into a biking/car accident five years ago, breaking three bones. She did this everyday at 5pm until the doctor said my bones had healed. She stopped the sessions after that unless she wanted to cuddle. Miss her everyday 🥰. Thanks for the facts very interesting.
I've been telling everyone. My youngest cat, Angus MacGyver, had horrible anxiety. We've had him since he was about 6 weeks old, he was a feal kitten and took a long time to adjust to people. He's fine with me, but my husband still makes him nervous because he's hyper and loud. Angus loves to be pet, get hugs and kisses, but he's never purred. Until the other day. He got in my lap to be pet and he purred!!!! It was just that one time, but it was amazing
My Bailey is part feral. She would sit in my lap purring kneeding and sucking on her fur.. She still does this every once in awhile. We had an instant connection at the SPCA. She is now 16 months old. She is a totally inside cat. She can be so sweet and then be so wild! She loves to scratch, so I have many scratching apparatus' for her..She is a beautiful calico, loves catnip and playing fetch with furry balls. She has destroyed a few automatic toys..
Aww, nice! Keep in mind though that some cats purr, but you can’t hear it. One of my cats purrs so quietly, I can never hear it, but if I feel his throat….there it is! He’s purring.
I adopted a stray cat in my neighborhood years ago. She was a tortoiseshell calico. I called her Patches because she had white, tan, and dark patches on her face. She was pregnant at the time. She never purred, and when I would pet her, she would growl. When I’d stop (because she was growling) she would butt me with her head until I’d start scratching or petting her. After a few weeks, I figured she might not know how, especially if she lost her mother too early. So every time I’d see her, I would stop and pet or hold her and make purring sounds. That went on for a little over two years, before she purred back! And after that, she never growled at me again! She still growled at Sam, my dog, and some other cats that she tolerated, but she never growled at me again, ever. She was an absolute love bug!
Only camels, giraffes & cats walk that way...and individual nose prints... now, that, I didn't know! As Leonardo DaVinci said, "The smallest feline is a masterpiece." Love you, Jackson.
It's been a rough day...a lonely day of negative self talk. As I glance through the lineup of video notifications I sigh with relief and pull up Jackson. The vibe is sincere and just pure goodness. Thanks for being there. You never know who you've encouraged with your positive energy. 🙂
I saw this thing somewhere and it was talking about how a girl was having a bad day so she went to her bestfriend for support. Her bestfriend told her what a loser she was, that her bf was probably cheating, things would never get better, and she had nothing good to offer anyone. Then you realize she's not talking to her "bestfriend" she's talking to herself in the mirror. The video went on to say, you wouldn't talk to your bestfriend that way so why would you talk to yourself that way. When you think something negative about yourself you have to ask yourself "is this something I would say to my friend" and if not then dismiss it for the b.s it really is. Music helps. Hope you feel better.
I HEAR YA! I have a supervisor who is cold to me and sometimes ignores me but then says good morning to many others. I have never done anything to her. I say good morning, am polite, always have included her. I was feeling so anxious and self analytical and down on myself for somehow offending her (I must have, right? For her to be so irritable and nasty)...until a couple other days later when other coworkers told me they had experienced the same thing. She is snarkiest with the kind people who are polite. Now I am much more quiet around her. Civil. But not as warm. And I realized...you can be a good person and some people just won't treat you well. Not sure if this relates to why you have been hard on yourself or dealing with negative self talk...but I hope you feel better soon! In the meantime...we have our lovely little sweetheart cats to help us emotionally once we get home. :)
I had an issue with my shoulder and physical therapy didn't help. So I just started laying on the ground and stretching my arm every day. My black rescue, Catterina started to curl right up next to my shoulder and purr while I did this. After less than a week the pain was gone. I had this shoulder issue for about 5 years and then rescued my gorgeous black kitty and I am convinced she healed me. I had tried stretching on the floor many times before and it only brought temporary relief. Cats are amazing and if you ask me their purrs are magical. 💖💖💖🐈⬛
Jackson: “Cats have over 100 vocalizations.” My cat, standing by his food bowl acting as if he’s near starvation: “Mmmrrraaaawwwbrrrrrruuhhhhhmrow!” Me: “And mine used 80% of them just now.”
My current two have never meowed for food, the two I had when I lived with my parents always yelled for food. I’m a little sad they don’t and happy they don’t feel that they have to.
Cats are healers. When I found out purring is the same HZ as wound healing ultrasonic technology we use now. I was amazed. I have always felt better with cats , but I thought it was because I just love them. I am a RN. I Love my work. I love my three rescue babes. But there is a relaxing effect my cats have on me.
Yep, and mine only does the excessivemeowing for food thing with one family member in particular, but that person isn’t here right now. So guess I’ll be getting the brunt of her persistent, "Where’s my wet food," meow this morning. lol
Cats are truly special and amazing creatures! I have had them in my life since I was a little girl and I couldn’t imagine my life without a cat(s) in it. They are faithful companions and intelligent animals and I respect them more each day. I recently lost my friend Rupert. He was 17 and I miss him everyday. When I was sad he would jump up and lie on me and purr. It made me feel better. He was amazing!
My cat Bagheera doesn’t purr a lot but once I was down with the flu and he wouldn’t leave my side. Additionally, he’d sit on my chest and purr away. It was almost like he was trying to nurse me back to health with his purring. It was so comforting!
I have always called my tortie Wookie a Magic Cat. I broke my leg in 2019 and had surgery. She would put her head on my leg exactly where the break was and purr. I didn't need any pain killers. I had a female surgery shortly after that, and she put her head on my tummy and purred. Once again, I didn't need any pain killers. And recently, I had some ear surgery and had to lay on my right side. Wookie came up and put her purring little head against the bad ear. She is truly a magic cat!
Loved the nose print fact , that's really cool. My Midnight actually vocalize the word NO lol when am doing something he doesn't like, at first I thought I was hearing things but after several instances we confirmed..he learned to say No.
And when my boyfriend had a broken leg our cat patches was consistently laying on him and constantly pray I just thought that she's trying to keep them company I didn't realize that she was trying to heal them and she sensed his injury what a smart little rescue Kitty
One of my kitties will sleep all day with me when I'm down with a migraine. He jumps on the bed, purrs and settles down against one of my legs. It's so sweet.
My little BabyCat came over and lay on my neck/face the other night while I had a toothache. His warmth and immediate purring eased the pain considerably. I know that sounds too good to be true, but I swear by the fact that ten minutes of straight love and purring took the edge off the pain... like he KNEW something I didn't. So sweet 🥰💯
I, unfortunately, knew all of these due to many years of watching Jackson (either through this channel or his show). The one I find interesting is the vocalizations. Very much like most Siamese based breeds, Siam does trilling/chirping meows depending on who/what he is making them towards. If he's at the window, he either does short trills/chirps or he'll do slightly longer ones that end with the last half of a meow. He'll do normal meows if he is wanting attention from my wife or myself or if he's just looking around. He will, also, talk to his water bowl before he drinks from it. It's almost a ritual. First, he will moan at it (almost like he's saying "no") two or three times while pawing at the surface in front of the water bowl. Then, he will drink from it. Nefertiti, on the other hand, is a relatively quiet cat. She let's out a crying meow if she wants food or our attention. Sometimes its short and sometimes you think she's going for the gold in how long a cat can meow. But, always quietly. That's it (unless you count her letting Siam that she's annoyed with him). Dang, I almost forgot! Siam, also, makes this noise when we tell him to get down from the counter that makes him sound like a squeak toy. Which would be problematic if we had a good sized dog.............
I have a silent cat, only gets a little chirp when I come home, otherwise nothing, except for the plaintive meows when going to the v e t for his annual service call. When he was sick not even that being put in the carrier. And yes spends most of the day sleeping, and if not sleeping grooming.
@@jenniferbalesteri2810 They are for the most part. Nefertiti is 9 and usually keeps to herself. Siam is 3 and would kill for affection. As in, he sometimes will try to snake around your feet as you're trying to walk.
This is a phenomenom that I've encountered by way of my cat, that I've never heard of EVER happening: When I sneeze, she'll chatter at me like she would a bird outside the window. What shocked me is I saw a recent cat video where the cat did the exact same thing! Mine started doing it when I had a particularly long sneezing fit, almost like she was asking "Are you okay?!" Now she does it if I only sneeze once, lol!
Our one year old kitten just started doing that with my husband. But not me. Then, last night I politely told her to get off the kitchen counter. She stopped in her tracks and chirped at me the same way.
My brother had a cat that did that. She seemed annoyed at the same time, but always chattered as a feline exclamation of "Gesundheit!" after a sneeze :D
One of my boys, Soxy, is the first to "bless" me when I sneeze. It's a small little 'mirp' sound. I'll say "Thank you, Soxy Bo." and THEN his brothers chime in - not so much blessing me, but jealous that Soxy has my attention. LoL.
I was a complete dog person my entire life, I ended up getting a house with a couple kittens and shortly after went on surgery leave, found Jason’s videos & learned amazing knowledge. Turned into a complete cat person and didn’t realize until I added a puppy to my home as well lol but we love them all!
My husband's 89yr old grandma had a therapy cat take a liking to her at a rehab facility. It would sit on her lap everyday and purr a lot. The doctors were super surprised by how fast her femur healed considering her age. She just like having an animal to play with since she was stuck in one spot. But I guess the cat helped more than her sanity.
@@princesssprinklesthecat4192 Same. I also grew up with one so I was shocked as an adult to find that they're so easily overlooked. They're also genetically healthier on average than other cats. It adds to their perfection, imho. :)
My brother ran a no kill animal shelter for many, many years. I was shocked when he told me beginning Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, NO BLACK KITTEN or CAT are ever adopted out. They held everything back that was solid black until Nov. 1. He said this was due to people adopting them for satanic ritual purposes. On Nov. 1 you would most likely only have black as the color option to pick if you were going to adopt a kitten or cat. I would have never thought there were these types of sick people out there that would simply adopt a cat only to harm it for their own sick purposes. Sad for sure.
Loved your show MY CAT FROM HELL and was disappointed when it was no longer on. Thankfully I found you on line. You have the best sense of humor. Your video about giving a cat a pill helped me immensely. I had to give my cat sedation prior to trip to hospital for Radioactive Iodine treatment. You said not to be uptight and anxious about it but more deliberate and matter of fact. It also helped to wrap her in a towel, use a pill popper and to do it fairly quickly. Your comments made me more confident. Thank You!
I calmly drop a towel over them but then quickly and gently wrap them up, pet them, roll them over, mouth upward, expose the head, gentle open their mouth from the side and drop it in, near the back, close the mouth and hold it shut then rub downward from their chin and along their neck a few times to trigger their swallowing reflex. It is quick and no struggling. The worst thing you can do is try and get medicine in them while they are standing up. Flipping them over makes it so much quicker and easier. No forcing of the head like I see being done by some shelter staff. Pill pockets just make a tiny pill bigger, dumb idea. It also work for treating eyes too. STOP grabbing their head. It is terrifying!
Re Cat Fact #1: Jackson, I've heard a scientist say that for that 'Righting mechanism' to work, it needs to happen within a certain 'threshold' if you will. The height a cat falls from has to be sufficient to accomplish that body rotation & horizon recognition... So, if acat falls suddenly, say, from a one story window or roof, it may not be able to fully right itself & thus sustain injury. Falling from a 2d story may yield a different result. And as you told your viewers, DON'T Try This @Home!!! Thanks for great content!
I'm not sure, but I thought the limit was probably a lot less than that, my cat has been known to right herself from 5 or 6 ft. Definitely not something to test at home lol. The first Google result says the lower limit is 12 inches, whatever that's worth. And then I guess there's an upper limit for how far they can fall too, even landing on feet
Good comment. My neighbours daughter flung her cat from three stories up saying it would fall properly. The kitty was never the same after that (thus ended up with my neighbours). Realising this contradicts what you just wrote ... but point is, regardless of height, it doesn't always work out well. I did a terrible thing a few years back when just as my cat leapt from my balcony to the next door balcony, I replaced a metal lantern on the tiled floor right by where she took off from. The sound spooked her and she got distracted and fell to the ground. I broke the land speed record running downstairs and outside to find her (knowing there was a metal post/fence beneath where she fell). She was fine (TFG). I learnt a good lesson that day.
@@SmileyBlue69 I don’t know how old that girl was, but your neighbors are not raising their daughter properly. Children must be taught from an early age that you should never do something to a pet or animal that you would not wish done to you. I wonder what kind of talk they had with her after that horrific incident. That should have been a huge teachable moment. The fact that (as I understood it) that cat ended up with another family speaks volumes on how they view pts, and how they probably handled the situation (badly).
Our four inside cats stay at our vet's kennel when we are out of town. Our older female has been the spokes cat for the group from the beginning, and each time she came back home with new vocalizations learned from the other cats kenneled in the same room. I find that fascinating.
I stumbled into the wonderful world of felines after trying out some of your tips on some strays living on my driveway. Five or six years later I have four indoor and one stray who has the indoor option at her will. From one music lover to another, thank you. My music has taken a back seat to the cats but I treasure both as I do your efforts. May God bless you in all you do brother. 🐈
Thank you Jackson for taking the time to post videos with great advice for cat owners with questions. It's truly a blessing for both cats and cat owners. You had me with your video about not bathing your cat👍 My little boy (jelly) will not play with his toys! I have had to donate hundreds of dollars of toys to the shelter because I get him toys and he plays with it for about 5 minutes then ignore s it no matter how much I try to get him interested in it ( I try to hide and wiggle it so he sees it and can hunt it) but when I look to see if he's interested he's gone). All he wants to play with is creamer tops. He brings them to me and I throw them high so he can leap at them. I do this several times a day with him. The problem is he gets bored ( I know he's bored,i knows that meow) and I desperately try to play with him and he won't play. I've made him puzzle toys, given him boxes, play cat tv for him, given him high places to jump on but he gets bored quickly and will not play, what do I do? Thank you for any help!
One thing I’ve observed about cats, at least the many Siamese I e had, is they have incredible memories and are great mimics. As far as mimics go, I particularly remember one cat we had who watched us playing monopoly. After about thirty minutes he grabbed the dice in his paws, tossed it up in the air snd batted the metal pieces around, not the hotels. He did stuff like that all the time. Many of our cats learned not only the meaning of certain common and favorite words snd would try to imitate the word to let us know what they wanted. Like a clipped MOUT to mean Go Outside. My kitty now has a huge and consistent vocabulary all her own that sounds nothing like an English word but often has the same amount of syllables. Like: MEAH REAH for breakfast/dinner. She won’t eat unless I ask her if she wants breakfast or dinner and replies MEAH REAH. or if she wants it earlier than our usual time she will initiate the MEAH REAH drill to let me know she’s ready to eat. She can’t say butterfly 🦋 (her fav toy) but she yowls when she wants to play with it. But it’s a Yow Rau Rau. When she wants a treat she brings me the small dish I put her treat on then stares at me. And all I have to say is Treat? And she is MEAH!!!!!!!! Which I think in her mind is: heck yeah! But again, same amount of syllables as treat. Also if something is puzzling to her she drops her tone at the end like we English speakers do when phrasing a question. It’s mimicry. It’s amazing.
My sphynx who passed away from cancer on monday 3rd was vocal and highly sapient in the same way. I've never encountered a cat as observably intelligent, deliberate and empathic cat as him. Everything from using different sounds for different needs/desires, asking permission before jumping up to snuggle and climb my shoulders to calculating trigger events to evade bath time based on overheard planning conversations. Reacting to beeing told off by pouting and settling for allowed activity nearby. Stacking my spouses chest with cat toys when they had a c-ptsd triggered anxiety attack. Consistently waking me up in time for getting to work when I had forgotten to set the alarm and even trying to wake me during a sleep apnea by yowling and pressing hard and repeatedly on my nose that woke my spouse who mananged to shove me onto my side and drop me back hard enough to get me breathing again, all without waking me...
I keep telling my sister to talk to her cat, they will understand and respond. Thanks for writhing this. I had a cat I was very close too.( 21 years) ( we served the passing of my husband together ) ( TC ) ( top cat) would sleep with me one ,night and sleep with him the other) JC on left side of bed. TC right beside his side. Then next night he would come sleep close to me...he is truly missed. They both are.... , My 4 newer kidos have a long way to go. But I know I will never have another TC . And each kitty has thier own ways. Talking and purring are so special when this happens. For the love of cats ..=^.^=
@@attheranch873 Maybe that's why my husband named him that. I never ? It. He named him before we where together, few months. But TC and JC we had GREAT life together. Thanks for reply.
The lactose fact was my favorite. The pet store I go to sells soft cat food with cheese in it and I've declined it many times when they've recommended it to me. My reason was "I'm spending a lot of money to try to buy healthy high protein food for my cats... adding cheese seems counterproductive", but now I can also throw in the lactose fact!
Honestly, something that surprised me with my previous cat was finding out that a large percentage of cats are totally unaffected by catnip. The four cats I'd had in my life before then had all loved catnip and gone bonkers over it, but my fifth kitty was like "what do I do with this?" It did absolutely nothing to her. Now my current kitty is another 'nip fiend, so for me it's only been one out of six, but I now know it's a higher rate than that among cats in general, and that just totally shocked me.
@@SmileyBlue69 there is a Lot of bad catnip out there though... On the brands my recently passed Sphynx ignored, the list of contents turned out to be 99% peppermint that was just spiked with dilluted catnip oil...
Yea, mine doesn't do anything.. This is my first cat ever and I thought she should be rubbing all in it ect, nope she eats it and goes on about her day... Lol
When I wake up in the morning one of the cats gets so excited that she is using a great variety of all the voices she has. She starts cutely meowing, screaming, babbling, making "hrrmm" and "brr" noises (i don't know how to describe them 😂) and it's really cute.
Aaaaw so exciting. I agree with Jackson, get two. I've only ever had single cat households, but I rescued two kittens last year and it's so lovely seeing them chirp for each other, groom, chase each other and teach each other how to "cat". Enjoy your new kitty
@@louiseoleary7360 I agree with that statement, we were adopting two originally but the owner was too sad too see them go so they kept one. Also I’m homeschooled and going to dedicate all my time too him. We are still planning on adopting another cat in the near future!😃 also the reason they are giving away their kittens is because they forgot to spay/neuter 😬 Also thanks
I adopted two kittens myself last week, my old cat of fifteen years has early stage kidney disease and I love her dearly so I know it’ll break my heart when she passes so I thought adopting a kitten or young cat would both give me someone else to love and a companion for her. So I went through the process at my local shelter with the intent of getting just one. A brown and black tabby kitten that’s about nine weeks old. But then on adoption day when I went to pick her up, the staff just happened to take me by another cage and mention the occupant inside. A tiny black kitten of about five or six weeks old that had been found abandoned in a gutter and brought to the shelter. When I stopped to get a good look at her, she lifted her head to look at me and promptly stole a piece of my heart. I came home that day with two kittens who are now inseparable.
Fact number 8 - cats rule the world with their cuteness, well my cat rules my home, she can get away with anything. Great video, I love watching cat fact videos.
I'd be incredibly interested to hear your thoughts on cats doing the "Hunger for Words" experiments where their person is teaching them to speak using buttons (such as FluentPet buttons). A couple of examples off of the top of my head is the channel BilliSpeaks and the channel catmanjohn.
I was surprised a few months ago when I found out about cats being included in this! It absolutely amazed me. I watch both of those channels and the way it seems to me is that both Billi and Russell seem very pleased with being able to effectively communicate with their humans. It seems to have taken away the frustration of trying to constantly get their point across. If the cat isn't interested, like Russell's siblings are not, then they can just walk away and not participate.
The fluent pet buttons are bad. Mine go out all the time. I even had one that had pre recorded obscenities on it. But actually yes my cats use them... to ask to play... every 10 minutes.
@braindamage Lol. If I got them for my cat, who's 12 and not much into playing, she would need buttons about which flavor of her expensive foods she wants, going out on the balcony to survey her kingdom, and how annoying she finds me to be.
There's a dog called Bunny who uses them extensively and is amazing with the complex thoughts she has! Her mom asked about the sleep twitching when she woke and Bunny replied, "Dream is night talk." Once she spontaneously came out with, "Stranger ouch paw." Walked over to mom and presented the paw with a thorn in it! And when they recently got a second dog, Otter, it wasn't long before he--without lessons, only observing--used the buttons to say, "Talk Otter now!" Mom was shocked :-)
@@patmaurer8541 I love Bunny! As well as the dog that started it all, Stella from hungerforwords! I just didn't mention them because I was only bringing up the talking cats, haha. Stella was the first dog I saw use different words to describe another word (her "ocean" button was broken so she pressed the words "big" "water" "outside") and I was FLOORED! I remember when a macaw was the first non-human to do that (she didn't know what cake was called so she called it "sweet bread") and it caused an explosion in the science world, and now we're finding out dogs are that smart too?! The contributions these buttons have on science and animal psychology is absolutely phenomenal!
These are a few things I've learned about my cats.. Cats hearing is fine tuned they know all the sounds of a crinkle of a treat bag, or when you opening a can of cat food are preparing their meal. Cats watch us and know our habits & routines when we are getting ready for work when we collect our keys etc. When the shoes go on they know we are leaving, they know the sounds of our car starting up or pulling in driveway wait and listen for footsteps, keys unlocking door, door nob turning. They know when we are getting ready for bed and will get ready or go with us or to their spot. After a while they learn words like when napping on my lap I say I got to get up or I got to go and my cat gets up and moves, in the begining id give kitty a slight nudge and tell her I got to go then after some time she learned what the words meant and moved. Also I've noticed my cats talk with their tail like when they are napping if I say their name they will twitch their tail showing me they are listening and not in a deep sleep. Oh cats are creatures of habit they love routines especially related to feeding time so if you want a tighter bond with your cat try to at least maintain a feeding routine😽
@Jackson Galaxy Totally a 10/10 I enjoy learning about my cats. Took in a stray whom I thought was plump. Boom gives birth 5 kittens....lost one. This was 7 months ago. I have them all. Never had cats. All I learned is from you. Love you man. This one was awesome. Thank you.💜💯
My wife and I are new Rescue cat owner of 2 beautiful kittens. and Every video that I have watched, I've learned something important. Keep up the great videos Jackson!!!
Jackson! I met you in front of the San Diego Humane Society back in early November when I was adopting my cat, Jupiter. Your work has been put to good use. Thank you for giving me the knowledge to have my own owner-mojo. I ended up getting covid on new year’s, but Jupiter laid on my lap for 4 days straight while I was resting up. Cats are truly magical! I plan on getting another very soon. Thank you Mr. Galaxy!
I've had fun teaching my cat to tell me what he wants by making the same noise over and over for different things. Now he mimics me when he wants certain things. He's highly trainable, contrary to what I used to think about cats! He is now getting into his geriatric years and is more vocal, so if he wants me to get up for breakfast, I WILL KNOW. lol
@@scottfw7169 It's fun because I think it has strengthened our bond a bit, he knows I understand what he wants, and makes it easier for me to help him get fed, grass, catnip, change his water dish or scoop his kitty litter. Those are the main ones I've taught him.
@@pmbluemoon this is so true. I discovered this with my last cats, and I've continued the "experiments" with my current cat. He will do just about anything I ask him to do, if he understands what I mean. So for example "come out, please" means: walk through this doorway. "stop" and "get down" = obvious I think. he responds to his name, too, and "come here" works more often than not. "Be careful" or "sweet feet!" when he gets a little too excited during play time is also something he understands! I think the key is that you have to approach it as a request, not a demand, and this way I've found that cats are more than happy to oblige, most of the time ;)
I've lived with cats all of my life and have heard or become aware of every one of those shocking facts about cats. Vocalizations are so interesting. I had one cat who had no voice; she was unable to cry. She would just whisper. But we carried on conversations all the time. I'd say, "Right Maisie?" and she'd always reply. It sounded like a hiss but not as fearful. I think of cat tongues as being like Velcro. I've always only owned rescues and everyone of them was well loved.
Love your channel! I have a deaf cat I've raised from day one (she was abandoned by her mom), I'd love to hear from you some advices for deaf cats, maybe even blind or special cats in general!
Hi Jackson. Unfortunately, not all cats can survive a fall, even a short fall! My mother raised Manx cats many years ago. One of them was an All American Grand Champion, and many of his descendents were champions as well. They were tailless and short backed, and one of them, a gorgeous female kitten who would have been a champion, broke her back in seven foot fall. She died a few days later. It was horrible, I was 15 at the time. Much later in life, a normally long backed and tailed pet cat broke his hip bone falling from a low roof. He had to have major surgery, and took months to recover. So, I keep my cats inside and NEVER let them climb onto high places
That's horrible! Sphynxes are also a cat that can't turn over in a fall since their lack of fur reduces the air resistance to the point that their tails are as useless for flight control as trying to turn a boat using a straight, round pole that can't even reach the bottom..
@@thatsalt1560, if you re-watch the video, Jackson does says "always". This is simply not true. I also have witnessed, more than one cat, NOT land on their feet.
@@hummingbird11 Shockingly, this one video doesn't contain his full range of knowledge. If you watch some of his other videos, he's made it clear he knows that not every cat would survive a fall.
From what I have learned, a cat is more likely to survive a really high fall rather than a shorter fall. This is because the greater distance gives the cat more time to right himself. Of course, I could be wrong.
I love, love, love my Sweetie Mow! I suffer from extreme anxiety and she is my best remedy 😃 My kids are now grown and she gives me a caretaker roll to fulfill as well. I can never repay the beauty she gives my life! 😺😁🥰💕
cats Know stuff. I had one who used to regularly wake me up at 4 am, every day. He even adjusted for daylight savings time. I had a lovely middle aged female who recognized the difference between personal distress and things that I could fix. If she was sick, she never complained. if she was hungry, that was my department and she would look at me and say, "mrawr". I was her kitten, and she would herd me into the house if she felt i had been out too long in the garden...it was like living with my grandmother =) And Charlie, who knows when Im not feeling well, and it's the only time he consents to share the recliner with me...
Both my rescue cats adore climbing trees and I always find it interesting that they are able to basically walk down the tree and do a little hop at the end, they always seem so proud of themselves afterwards 😂
Thanks so much for this amazing information! I'm a lifelong cat mama and feline enthusiast and I wasn't aware of several of these facts. To me kitties are one of God's most perfect (ie purrrfect) creations and is further proof that we have all been carefully designed and tenderly crafted by an intelligent creator-our Father in Heaven. Each cat is such a beautiful work of art! Blessings
Great video as always Jackson, but I feel as though your comments re point 1 may mislead some people who aren't aware of high rise cat syndrome, etc, and therefore they may not take seriously all the precautions that should be taken when a cat is using a balcony, or has access to a window that's high up. Your video implies that cats will be ok, even if they fall from a fairly great height, but doesn't mention high rise syndrome, or how high it 'too high'. I know that for most people it goes without saying that windows and balconies should be cat-proofed, but some people have no idea that cats will willingly launch themselves off a balcony 3, 4, 5, 6 or even 15 stories up in pursuit of a bug.
@@KyrenaH In his Catification videos, Jackson talks about the distance they need to have time to rotate, making sure they have a clear path to the ground if they do fall, etc. Keep watching! :-)
Most guardians are pretty careful; and he did say a couple of times that a cat may still experience broken bones, just that they're far more likely to suffer less injury that other animals or a human falling the same distance.
❤ hey Jackson, I’ve been a cat owner since I was a little girl for 50 years. I love watching your videos because I’m learning so much. With science and new inventions and discoveries you’re never too old to learn about something you love eyes suspected they cats were lactose intolerant, but did not know that the felines can be so, thank you for giving us all those fantastic facts!!!
Hi Jackson 😊 ❤❤❤ your show and pods, my 8 Yr old grandson got a kitten for Xmas 🙂 and you have become a staple in the house now, you are the go to guy for my son, he would be lost without you, 👍 he is 9 weeks old now, ginger with white mane, and his name is Simba 😂 carry on with the good work Jackson...much love from Liverpool UK..
Thank you, Jackson! My 2 cats have never hissed/scratched/bit me (or eachother). I think it’s because you taught me to set up a perfect environment for them. 💕
I'm so glad you have a UA-cam channel now Jackson, I would watch your show religiously before! Much better than the dog one. Nothing wrong with doggies, but that guy is kind of a dick to them. You actually show compassion for these cats.
Frankie, my furbaby, is right pawed and prefers to give high fives with her right paw which is adorable. She also has special vocalizations she uses just for me. One is for calling out and trying to find where I am, another is she's hungry, and her favorite is asking me to follow her (she likes to show off her toys or where she'd like to cuddle.) Frankie will also pet me with her right paw just like I pet her which cracks me up.
Hi Jackson, I really enjoy your videos. I have had cats all of my life, and I recently lost one due to cancer. When you talked about how a cat's purr can heal, it resonated with me because she would lay on my shoulder every night when I went to bed and purr in my ear. It was the most amazing feeling falling asleep to that! I miss her so much!
When we got our two cats they talked to each other. If the male couldn't see her, he would "call" and she would respond. Then they talked for a moment or two. Now they yell at us, food, out, bedtime are all commands we obey.
There are horses called trotters that walk with both left legs and then the right legs. The Amish have these horses pulling their carts. Thank you Jackson for this video, cats are my favorite animals and I’m waiting for the day I get another kitten. There’s nothing like the purr, the only other animal that does this are bulls, or so I’ve been told.
Isn’t pacing (both left legs then both right) taught to horses? I know Standardbred horses sometimes use that movement in races, but they have harnesses around their legs to enforce it.
Having chronic pain, it does help me feel more relaxed and calm. My cat picks up on when I feel very anxious and pain and she comes to sleep with me or lay on my lap or chest and is purring loudly, it’s so comforting. Having chronic costachondritis, she is on of my main medications. They know.❤
Jackson, thanks for your videos. They are a dose of light, joy, and humor amidst the personal and collective challenges of these times. There may be so much I can't control, but enjoying my little fur babies, and trying to make their life better has been a healing outlet. Thanks for helping me be a better cat mama.

Thank you so much, I could listen to you all day. You are such a blessing to my life, I have 2 cats right now , they are seniors like me. I will be relocating to my daughter's house where she has 3 cats, I will definitely use your intro method for having them meet. I'm a little nervous about it but with your expertise information it will be ok, I am sure. Thank you so much. I have had many cats throughout my life and I love them all so very much. God Bless you Cat Daddy!!
I suffer from severe sciatica. Almost 20 years of it now. Anyway, I had a cat then that would lay across the bottom of my back when I lay on the floor to stretch out my back. He always got the exact spot the pain was coming from. Heat of his body always helped relieve it. They are very smart.
When I adopted my cat as a rescue a few years ago, he was already missing most of his teeth. The vet told me that when adult cats lose teeth, the roof of their mouth/soft palate actually hardens to compensate!
Great video! My little man has many sounds plus he says mama! I wasn't sure at first if I was hearing what I wanted but its been a year now an when he wants to find me or let me know what he wants he says mama. When he was little he would meow for me and I'd say mama's in here. Love my little man! 😻😻😻
You are amazing Jackson. I hope some day you'll write a series of books to help us better understand our cats the way that you do. Thank you so much for all that you do for these precious babies.
Have to add that purring on a human's chest will help them stop crying. My little boy cat comes to me if I cry. And patting my face with a gentle paw also helps, just so you know.
I remember jackson mentioned bramble was a foster waiting for a new home, i have however seen many videos later but i think i know what he's like i do believe bramble has a new home and i doubt jackson would not let him go at all he is a gorgeous looking kitten and jackson is purrrfect ❤❤❤
Bramble still has the star power. I hope he's a "foster fail" for you, Jackson! Love watching him grow up. Yes, I feel better when Ellie purrs in my arms, even if it's only emotionally. It definitely makes me more calm. By the way...I just noticed you don't have any cat fur on your chair. What?????
After finding your channel around mid last year I knew almost all of these! I didn't know the pallipae were made up of the same thing as fingernails which is really weird to imagine XD And tbh you deserve even more than a sub. I'd give you a big hug if I could. Thank you for all of these videos! I've learned so much from them!
An example of a cat falling from heights: At our apartment building there are many families with cats. Our sixth-floor neighbor's cat Mia fell from the balcony. We are living on floor one. I was on the balcony at that time and I heard a 'shlaps' kind of sound then, something run very fast to under a car. I thought it was one of our fur babies jumping from the balcony. So, I got out and looked under the cars just parked outside the building and found Mia, a sixth-floor resident, very scared. I called her family and she was taken to the vet. Apparently, she was looking from the balcony to some birds and tangled to clothing lines and fell. No serious injuries, just some broken nails on her front paws and little blood. She is some lucky girl I say.
My boy cat took a 2 or 3 foot fall and I saw it happen on my bed however he is 13 pounds. It gave him a seizure . Went to vets and she told me to watch him close for 2 months if he has more than 2 seizures bring him back. This darling is age 3 and has a heart murmur also
I've got one for you Jackson!!! For the first time in my life I have gotten to keep a mother cat and her babies actually 3 of them & babies. I had an elderly cat couple who were already with me. They prefer not to lose their babies. Their families are very tight and they will take in babies that do not have a moma. They have a hierarchy..the older couple is like the Bosses they defer to them. Then momas then the babies. While it takes some adjusting to scent about a day or two. The abandoned babies are accepted and treated like their own. In other words if allowed cats have families just like us. Plus they would stay together until they pass and mourn their elders. My two eldest passed and they mourned them. Plus they seemed to expect a return. Wasn't long we found first a female & then a male who acted just like our two babies that we'd had for 15 or 16 years. The family acted like they were waiting on them. I didn't know this about cats. My mother was a foster mom and I started as a child. But the tradition of giving kittens away was always there. I've just learned this from keeping the whole families. Oh and even if cats are spayed and neutered they still have sex. And within the family dynamic. They pair off into partners. The ones that have got a significant other will "be" with several others. The vet had told me they'll still have sex whether or not they are "fixed". She was right. My older couple that had passed did all the time. When they returned as different kitties they are still "together" These facts weren't shocking to me. I had my leg amputated during this time. They would lay on my stump and purr 2 or three at a time. The doctors were shocked at how fast I healed. I swear I think God decided to send us some protectors some angels 😇 to watch over us. I believe that they do!!!
Yup. I've suffered severe migraines since I was a teenager. My kitties purring on my chest was the soothing relief that most prescribed medication could provide. I'm not saying the medications didn't work, but my baby's purring put it over the top.
You definitely make me laugh Jackson! Thanks. And you help me Learn about my cats each time I watch you! So a real big thank you! I have 12 right now. All wandered up. Most needed veterinary care right away. Must have learned it through the grapevine from some of the other cats in our neighborhood! 😉🤣 Anyways these are really great things to learn. Thanks again. Happy New Year to you and all the cat lovers out there! 👍❤💙💯❌⭕
She normally makes a soft purr sound, but when I'm feeling bad she knows it somehow and hangs out with me and turns up the volume.❤😺
me too! i had a very rough night yesterday and my babies came over to my bed and starting purring and i felt so much better:)
oh my god... i can´t express how much my cats help me with my mental health.

Beer elf- maybe he could smell the hormone or hormones that pregnant women have???
Wow! Amazing. Must be some odor it can tell. I know my two cats were all over me when I was pregnant. Lol
Wow! Now that is shocking! ^^
I heard of cats visiting people when they are actively dying!! This is amazing!
Wonder, hard to believe this is true even if cats are the most amazing animals, I can't see any other animal doing something like this.
They are incredibly loyal. I've had a cat for 2 years and he is frequently at my side. He sits next to me when I work, sleeps nearby at night, and even waits for me at the window if I am out. He is my first cat. I had no idea they behaved like this!
Ohhhh, that is such a precious story!! It brought tears to my eyes!! Your cat loves you so much 😭💕 I'm glad you are better now.
I was in a hospital for 2 days. When I got home, my cats were happy to see me. They realized I wasn't well, took up to cure me. One on my left, one on my right side both pressed up close to my sides. Both were purring me to a love-filled sleep.
Hello Debi how’s the weather over there
When my late husband was in the hospital with heart failure, he kept asking me to "bring my kitties here".
@@4Redhead39 Here Ann how are you doing today
Getting my cat to purr is so rewarding, I'm like "yess, you love me!"
It’s such an honor 😻
Or your cat can be terrified of you & purring🤣
My cat purrs and I think.. “ she may be self soothing” she always looks likes she wants to kill me ( and I love her )
After working with animals for 15 years I have learned that cats also per when they are in pain. 😢
Yes, I just saw video about this as well
Good way to know you won't step on something harmful or in something yucky.
I just used to wish my cat hadn't done that while walking over my face, but now that he's gone forever, I miss even the annoying things :.(
WoW did not know thank you
@@SonsOfLorgar Awe, that really sucks, that such important and loves things in our lives, are only temporary. The loss of a beloved pet, is always a tragic, heartbreaking event.
Hello Diane how’s the weather over there
Mine does that if I've been in the shower too long! I get a major news update to which I respond "really?, you don't say?"
BOING! It is one of the signs they love you and want your attention.
oh, he loves you!
So precious! Hope you’re all better!
@@janetstephens9563 that was over 20 years ago. There was a little brain damage but nothing "significant ". Life is good.
I"m not sure if a cat's purring can help humans heal but I have to say that hearing it and feeling the gentle vibrations of the cat's body as it purrs on your lap or against you, is one of the more pleasant experiences in life. There aren't many more things more peacefully pleasurable than that.
I never understood cats at all until I got my kitten and started watching your channel. I gotta say it's been a life changing event 😊😊😊

I agree! So happy you're having a great experience ☺️ we adopted our first cat a month ago and these videos totally helped her come out of her shell. Can't imagine life any other way besides cat-ified now!
My cat, Mrs, Kitten and I have a better relationship thanks in part to Jackson. That cat T. V. Was a game changer.
My cats always communicate with each other and me with these special "hmmmm?"s and it's so adorable, almost as if they're trying to say "what's up, you doing something interesting here? Can I join? Give me your attention!"
Last day I realised that my cats don´t meow :D they just do the "hmmmm?" as you said I think :D
I think my Snow Shoe cat is related to yours in some way bcz that’s her in a nut shell. Lol 🐈⬛
My cat does that too. They usually do that to tell you they want your attention or they are lonely.
Mine too! We just hmmma back and forth at each other.
I love when my cat makes that sound! It’s adorable
They're like a little heating pad on your tummy during those crampy days! My cats know when I'm sad or in pain.
It’s true my Cat Eli would rub up against me when I was in pain when I had menstrual cycles
Cats are simply amazing and I could never imagine life without one. They are so attuned to everything. Just love, love, love them🐱🥰🇦🇺
Hello Amanda how’s the weather over there
Gosh Jackson, you missed the MOST crazy and cool cat fact in this!!? The most shocking cat fact is, in fact.... that cats domesticated themselves. I will legit never get over how cool that is.
Or perhaps… they domesticated US?!
*x files music plays*
Exactly. They chose us.
Thanks for sharing her kindness and your love.
Ferrari kitten
My Bailey is part feral. She would sit in my lap purring kneeding and sucking on her fur.. She still does this every once in awhile. We had an instant connection at the SPCA. She is now 16 months old. She is a totally inside cat. She can be so sweet and then be so wild!
She loves to scratch, so I have many scratching apparatus' for her..She is a beautiful calico, loves catnip and playing fetch with furry balls. She has destroyed a few automatic toys..
That is fantastic, and so special!😻😻😻
@@hotcrazycatladyme168 I know this is difficult when younger but SELF ACCEPTANCE is key. The good and the bad. This gets easier I promise!

Hello Trish how’s the weather over there
Catterina is a wonderful name!
Jackson: “Cats have over 100 vocalizations.”
My cat, standing by his food bowl acting as if he’s near starvation: “Mmmrrraaaawwwbrrrrrruuhhhhhmrow!”
Me: “And mine used 80% of them just now.”
Isn't that the cutest. When they cycle through every possible variation, just to check if one of them gets them food.

Glad to know your feien Rupert 💕
My cat Bagheera doesn’t purr a lot but once I was down with the flu and he wouldn’t leave my side. Additionally, he’d sit on my chest and purr away. It was almost like he was trying to nurse me back to health with his purring. It was so comforting!
I had a black cat named Bagheera. He lived to be 20 years old. Sweet cat. I really miss him.

My female cat does 90% murmurs instead of meows. The male mostly meows in his quiet high voice instead.
I have a silent cat, only gets a little chirp when I come home, otherwise nothing, except for the plaintive meows when going to the v e t for his annual service call. When he was sick not even that being put in the carrier. And yes spends most of the day sleeping, and if not sleeping grooming.
Your kitties sound so cute! Yelling at the water before drinking!💕😹❤️
@@jenniferbalesteri2810 They are for the most part. Nefertiti is 9 and usually keeps to herself. Siam is 3 and would kill for affection. As in, he sometimes will try to snake around your feet as you're trying to walk.
my indoor cat has a chat with his prey, bugs, before he eats them
This is a phenomenom that I've encountered by way of my cat, that I've never heard of EVER happening: When I sneeze, she'll chatter at me like she would a bird outside the window.
LoL.
Any time I cough, my cat will talk to me asking if I am ok
I was a complete dog person my entire life, I ended up getting a house with a couple kittens and shortly after went on surgery leave, found Jason’s videos & learned amazing knowledge. Cat racism, due to association with witch stories. LOL. It's just a color. In some cultures, black cats are lucky.
I adopted a black cat along with his sister. Both great cats

That’s awesome!!
Operation Honeypaws. Mash up pill, mix with honey, spread on tops of front paws. No scratches, no struggles and so easy
@@geckohecko That's a great idea! I will try it the next time.
@@toriless I admit that them having control while you try to pill them can a problem. But unless toweled, most *do not* want to leave their feet.
Cats’ whisker patterns are also unique to each cat. We were watching a lion documentary once, and that’s how the filmmakers identified the cubs.
They also need to have fur for it to work at all, otherwise their tail swishing just can't provide enough air resistance to work as a steering tool.
BS - a cat can turn around in only 3 feet or less.
Our four inside cats stay at our vet's kennel when we are out of town. Our older female has been the spokes cat for the group from the beginning, and each time she came back home with new vocalizations learned from the other cats kenneled in the same room. I find that fascinating.

My little boy (jelly) will not play with his toys! Hello Lisa how’s the weather over there
One thing I’ve observed about cats, at least the many Siamese I e had, is they have incredible memories and are great mimics.

Maybe that's why my husband named him that. I never ? It. He named him before we where together, few months. But TC and JC we had GREAT life together. Thanks for reply.
I am absolutely convinced that there is rather more going on in those cue ball sized brains than we humans typically give cats credit for.
Now my current kitty is another 'nip fiend, so for me it's only been one out of six, but I now know it's a higher rate than that among cats in general, and that just totally shocked me.
both of mine are unaffected and they aren't even related :(
Same with my kitties. Thought I just kept getting "bad" catnip
Our cat couldn't care less. He goes nuts from olives, olive leaves and twigs and celeriac. (He doesn't react to the leaves, only the root. Strange.)
I’m adopting a kitten in 3 days omg I’m so excited
Aaaaw so exciting. I agree with Jackson, get two. I've only ever had single cat households, but I rescued two kittens last year and it's so lovely seeing them chirp for each other, groom, chase each other and teach each other how to "cat". Enjoy your new kitty
Could you maybe adopt two? Playmates for each other and they learn boundaries. And great fun to watch them together! Saving two kittens in one hand 😀
@@louiseoleary7360 I agree with that statement, we were adopting two originally but the owner was too sad too see them go so they kept one. Also I’m homeschooled and going to dedicate all my time too him. We are still planning on adopting another cat in the near future!😃 also the reason they are giving away their kittens is because they forgot to spay/neuter 😬
Also thanks
As a cat mummy over over 25 years, It’s the nose ‘fingerprint’ and the 100 vocalisations that got me. Truly fascinating 😊
Hello Willow how’s the weather over there
These are a few things I've learned about my cats..

He is now getting into his geriatric years and is more vocal, so if he wants me to get up for breakfast, I WILL KNOW. lol
That he does that is cool.
@@scottfw7169 It's fun because I think it has strengthened our bond a bit, he knows I understand what he wants, and makes it easier for me to help him get fed, grass, catnip, change his water dish or scoop his kitty litter. Those are the main ones I've taught him.
I trained my daughter’s ragdoll cat to kiss my nose, shake, spin in a circle and roll over. Cats are so smart!
@@janetstephens9563 it's so fun and rewarding to know they understand what we like them to do, and they like to do it for us!
Hello Jean how’s the weather over there
Love your channel! I have a deaf cat I've raised from day one (she was abandoned by her mom), I'd love to hear from you some advices for deaf cats, maybe even blind or special cats in general!
Love you Jackson! You are a blessing to all cats and cat lovers! Thank you for all that you do.
He knows. He has explained that before. He's only explaining why they have that ability. He's not saying it works perfectly each time.
@@thatsalt1560, if you re-watch the video,
Jackson does says "always".
This is simply not true.
I also have witnessed,
more than one cat,
NOT land on their feet.

Hello Judy how’s the weather over there
My cat always pops up when I’m upset or crying, he immediately calms me down or comforts me, Milo is super special to me 🥰
Both my rescue cats adore climbing trees and I always find it interesting that they are able to basically walk down the tree and do a little hop at the end, they always seem so proud of themselves afterwards 😂
This is why I'm a little worried about putting a skywalk in for my cats. If I do it's going to have some kind of railing so they don't slip and fall.

You are a pleasure to listen to. You are informative. You are ethical. And you really do a service to our cats. Thank you.❤
Bramble has gotten bigger since the last time we saw him! Man, kittens grow up so fast.
Bulls purr??? Tell me more??
Isn’t pacing (both left legs then both right) taught to horses? I know Standardbred horses sometimes use that movement in races, but they have harnesses around their legs to enforce it.
@@madamedemonsieur Yes, it's a trained gait, not a natural gait.
@@iDuckman thanks, thought so.

When they returned as different kitties they are still "together"
These facts weren't shocking to me.
Awesome video! Thanks Jackson! You are one of my biggest heroes and you are the ultimate cat daddy!
