Excellent Work mate, No nonsense and to the point with some very informative info, i have a XH2 and was thinking about getting a Anamorphic and would of been up a creek without a paddle trying to figure out why the lens wouldnt work until i saw this...Thanks Bud.
Amazing video! I was looking towards getting the xH2s together with some anamorphic lenses. Does the xH2s have anamorphic desqueeze for previewing the footage?
Thank you __There is no anamorphic desqueeze preview, but you can use a field monitor with custom anamorphic capailities . The one I have seen so far that is under budget with a great screen quality is the VILTROX DC-550 Pro. If you are aiming for a high end then you need to look for Atomos field monitors.
Awesome video thank you! Just thinking about buying the sirui 50mm for my fuji set up. Have you tried the RAW video options of the camera? I’m thinking about geting the atomos V so i can use the full potential with raw.
Thank you for commenting-- I haven't yet purchased the sirui 50mm. I will add it to my collection in future as I continue to get used to shooting in the 35mm anamorphic. I think for my workflow, F-log2 works well but I will experiment with RAW to see how it looks. Atomos V is pretty good it is not on my radar yet though. I agree that if you really want to squeeze every limit out of the camera you should grab a kit that also compliments it so I'll definitely check that out.
@@MarinKarastoianov I might do a review on the viltrox monitor -- they are pretty decent if you want a basic monitor with a good screen quality. It has a few limitations but that depends on your workflow.
Thanks for responding this is tutorial is for FX3 but similar concept applies with different interface. Here is a quick link to the FX3 guide, so I hope it helps helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2210/v1/en/contents/TP1001106329.html#:~:text=MENU%20%E2%86%92%20(Setup)%20%E2%86%92%20%5B,lens%20that%20you%20are%20using.
Hi, thanks for your video. For a long time I am thinking to get the sirui saturn for my XH2s and I could not find a video which shows the settings...so cool. Although your video examples are nice I could not see the anamorphic effect that much. Maybe it`s because there are no people in the scenes? Do you still shoot with that lense. best regards Claus
Hi , thanks for commenting. Honestly I think they played it way too safe with this one. The bokeh and character of the lens isnt as pronounced as some of the others in the market. I have been thinking of buying their anamorphic adapter to test on some of my vintage lenses to see what results I get, overall it is a safe bet, quite sharp, not as as soft either. Wide field of view and black bars but besides that it is missing alot of the uniqueness I normally aim for. I still use it because it is very convenient and light weight but besides that i'd experiment with adapters with vintage lens to see what I can pull off.
does the camera have desqueeze for the footage or did you have to do that in post? edit: nm saw that you answered in a previous comment. I also saw separately that possibly the new GFX 100 II has desqueeze now
I desqueezed in post. I have a quick video on how I desqueezed the footage too. Yeah GFX100 II seems to have. I think it is an underated camera as it produces amazing images. Fuji should try and bring out a full frame version and I think it will do really well.
If you have a field monitor plugged into your camera with an anamorphic settings then you can... Even better if you have custom luts installed in the field monitor, you'll see how it looks in post production.
@@FilmOnBudget Thank you kindly for the reply. I knew that half, I was fishing for an in-camera solution. Imagine I used to use film (no alternative) and we got this stuff now.

I tried to find a Monitor/Recorder on a budget but i don't find anything cheaper than the atomos that makes any sense.

@@FilmOnBudget yeah i got one old model from them but it is just a monitor. Still great quality for the money.
Man thank you for this! I am looking for the sony FX3 set up of my anamorphic. Is that related to sony also?

Thing I'm not clear on is can you see/film the de-squeez image of the anamorphic when filming?

Glad I can help!
wait so every time I change my lens I need to add it inside the camera ??
No, you can save it as custom settings - using your custom dial so you don't need to repeat the steps all the time.
What lense did you use?
