I love how you used the outside camera to show off the plane too unlike most x plane videos like this. Earned a sub
Thanks :D
Another Gem from the Catstrator! You did full justice to this premium model...great textures, sounds and the best FMC in X-Plane. I always pick up some tips/tricks that I am missing on my flights so thanks for the time and most importantly the great effort to put out these quality demonstration/review videos.
+Stealth Bob Thanks Bob!
That's a nice little approach indeed. I've flown it a few times. There are daily flights by ExpressJet and Envoy Air between KEVV and KORD. It's a good, quick little hop if you're short on flying time.
+n122vu Nice! I've definitely ridden in that approach more than a few times. I think I even have a video looking out to the north. O'Hare seems like a terrifying place to have to navigate around, though.
Even without a subscription, it keeps recommending your videos. I subbed for sure mate.
I'm everywhere! Welcome aboard :)
Lol, I am always a fan of doing the 'my own' checklist thing. Great video, thanks :-)
+flightsim481 No reason to follow the real thing when half the stuff doesn't matter :).
Wise words because it's not a real plane, we aren't being paid £100k a year to fly them and nobody dies if we get it wrong :-)
+flightsim48 you said it. I am too all about what maters...leave the real flow for the real pilots. Although I like to know how.Do it some times...5%
Great video, and you are right about the winglets. They are huge in reality .
+RazrThinblade Good to know!
Hey Cat, Great video as usual. The winglets are that large in real life. They're 11ft. I'm routinely on a 763 from JFK to LAX.... they're enormous! Again, great video
+chanman4rings Good to know! Thanks for tuning in :)
It sure would be a nice addition to X-Plane if we could have a pop up of an approach plate while flying
+CajunFoots Check out an addon called e-bag. I've seen Jeff Favignano use it in his videos.
Will you ever do a cockpit setup kind of video? Loved the video, thanks!
+Hub Kos That is something I've definitely been considering. Been a number of people requesting it!
Is there any instructional guides on the procedures that I could look at .. I am fascinated by all of this but still have mostly no idea what is going on :D.
There is a good bit of documentation that came with the plane. This was the jumping off point that I used when I learned the ins and outs.
Nice looking bird. I love the family 57 and 67. That nose skid on lining up and the very hard landing could use some work. Nice vid.
+Joao Briz Absolutely gorgeous planes. Those errors are just how it goes sometimes.
I've been thinking about switching to X-plane. I have a friend who is a xplane simmer. He switched to xplane some time ago from FSX. I flew the 737-200 and the 727 and was blown away. We even did some vids, which I posted on here not so long ago. I was blow away, not by the graphics but, by the way the aircraft handls. My father was a pilot and flew them all, the B727, 737-100 200 300, through the A320 family to the A340. So as you can imagine I know some things. And one thing I know is that good pilots are obcessed with perfection, like father like son, that's why I pointed out those errors...sorry. I have seen many of your vids and enjoy them, specialy one which you co-piloted the 737...OMG your friend PF did an awesome job flying the bird to the last second...he made a terrible landing. Not a hard one, but so of center that a reject would be the right decision. Anyway, keep up the good spirit.
Question: which is is, your opinion, the most dangerous fase on a long range flight? take-off, climb, cruise, decent, aproach or landing.
+Joao Briz Takeoff/Landing is where the most stuff can go wrong. It really depends on the airport your flying into/out of, really. It can be difficult to get a feel for the landings in the simulator. I fly an average of 3-5 different planes a week, too, which doesn't really help my cause :).
+catstrator In my opinion the answer is Takeoff. And why, you must be thinking? Well, on a long range flight your MTOW is much higher then your MLW, which means, if you have a catastrophic multiple failure, going around is not an option before MLW is reached. Plus, even when MLW is reached the aircraft is very heavy, which makes it as much dangerous. Ofcourse, if you're on a short to medium flight, which weights ain't an issue, takeoff and landing is the most dangerous. This is old school thinking I suppose, my father taught me this. Flying planes with computers is awesome, but these old school 737 and 727 are even more chalenging. And these FlyJsim are a must have, in my opinion, if one is into it. Peace.
Great video as always. I didn't know you were in New England. I just got my real-world PPL last year, and I'm working on an instrument rating now. I'm in Rhode Island. Let me know if you ever want to go up in a "slow as s**t 172" for real. That review of the 172 was classic.
+Shaun Hogan Thanks for tuning in Shaun! Might have to get in touch down the road :)
Any time. I'm hoping to work up to commercial and CFI tickets in a few years. I have to do a little at time so I don't break the bank! X-Plane is a great tool to reinforce the information from each lesson when they're a week or two apart. Particularly for IFR and all the new terms and techniques I have to learn!
In the Boeing manual it tells you to start engine 1 first and also to turn left and right isolation valves off, leaving the center one on. Just thought I'd drop this here, so you can do it more properly in the future. :D
Good to know, thanks.
How do you walk inside aircraft, any trick? I,m blocked by some invisible "wall"
Unlock and open the cockpit door. There's a button on the overhead panel and then you can click on the handle.
Earned my sub! This was an absolutely stunning video man! I nearly understood everything and it was really helpful for me!! Thank you, you can explain things so well! :)
Welcome aboard!
Nice Video, nice plane! Can you tell me what settings you are using to enable you to get the views you are getting in the first few minutes of the video - the in cockit videos with the panels, whenever I zoom out in X-plane I get the back of the pilots chair!
Check out my X-Plane camera tutorial on this channel.
Helpful non condescending tip: I always see you go to vertical speed as the vertical mode after takeoff. In fact, I see a lot of simmers do this, but you need to be on level change/IAS/FLC/whatever it's called for that airplane. Did you see how your throttles went to idle after you took off and hit VS? That's pretty insane. It's also not efficient, and reduces safety (may end up stalling if you leave it in VS and get to a high altitude where you can't sustain that rate of climb). VNAV put's you in level change, if you haven't noticed. Either go straight to VNAV (standard at my company), or climb in FLCH. This goes for normal and emergency ops. I use VS very rarely when going up... only if I'm expecting to be leveled off and want to reduce my rate of climb, if I need to expedite through a certain altitude (and don't forget you did that, or enjoy your stick shaker at FL300), or if the IAS mode is making the airplane do a phugoid oscillation when you're high up and close to your level off altitude anyway.
+Christopher Modiano Good information to have. Most of these models don't handle speed transitions well as they like to level off and start rocketing... that's my main motivation for using V/S a lot on the climb outs. The 767 does a reasonable job, but at this time it's just a force of habit thing. I honestly don't know why the plane snapped into SPD after takeoff. Most of these birds will stay in TOGA until I tell it to do otherwise.
Nice video, When you were landing there was snow/ice everywhere, Where can I get that too?
+Hk Virtual It's part of the scenery. Check the description for the link.
Hello,
What kind of checklist do you have?
Where can you get them?
Best regards
Thomas*
I produced a set of one off checklists for this video. There are checklists available somewhere in the documentation for the plane.
Just wondering? Have you done any videos on your favourite plugins for xplane 10/11?
I did a video covering xp10, but have not made anything for 11.
but how did you do that with the gate and the person? Could you send a link please
It's an addon called AutoGate.
Ok thx. I already installed it now but I don't understand the tutorial videos where did you put the folder in?
So my observation as an instructor and former airline pilot in the real world is how many people don't take off on centerline. the left side is used more often then not. Perhaps that's a rudder pedal issue?
I've heard in the r/w off center is used to avoid running over runway lights. In the sim it's just a matter of perspective... the sight picture is different from what you're used to in the real world. What's centered on my screen is actualy centered to the plane.
OH just realize it was in the description thanks :)
Does X-Plane have a 2 D viewing option? I know it sounds crazy but I'm not a fan of the virtual cockpit.
Some planes do, but it's rare nowadays.
Great vid Cat, rarely get you on twitch as live in UK, keep You Tube going plse! Going to get 767 now.
+Paul Charnley Thanks! I definitely understand the pain timezones. I think you'll enjoy the plane!
Just watched this and thinking of buying this aircraft. One question: is the nav data good and relatively up to date? One more question: can you use the navigraph nav data updated on this plane like in p3d?
It's got old nav data, but it runs off the X-Plane GNS430 data and can be updated with Navigraph.
ok thanks!
Can you do a stream or flight into/out of KPHL with any American aircraft? Loved thd livery aswell!
+Cameronb28 I'll see what I can do!
Nice vídeo men, that was awesome . I have a question , do you know how program a holding in the FMC? Let know if you have any tutorial , how to use 100% the FMC . Thank you body , I'll see you in the next video
I don't, sorry. I know it's possible in this plane, but don't know where to start.
Dude what specs are you running?.......I've never seen a flight simulator with this much graphical detail. You must have a super computer!!!!
+Oliver Sebastian i7 4790k @ 4.8ghz, GTX770 4gb, 16gb RAM. There are people with even better looking sims.
+catstrator are you using a Mac?
+Oliver Sebastian PC, windows 10
NIce review Cat. One thing tho, you do not arm the speedbrake on takeoff with Boeing planes, that's a McDonnel Douglas/Airbus thing only :P
+NSAdonis Good to know. Too damn many different planes to fly.
catstrator Oh, yea, always :)
I thought the landing was actually quite good. Nice flight sir!
+RYNO v4 I'll take it! Thanks for tuning in :).
Can u upload your internal view config? I bought FF 767 but internal camera doesn't work with numpad
You can set the views yourself by moving the camera and pressing CTRL+numpad key.
How do you turn on that front panel light, the one that is a greenish colour. I can't figure it out for my night flights
I'm not sure, sorry :(
Awesome video. These are so useful to us newbies. Thanks
Thanks for tuning in!
Do all the developers just lend you planes to try out. Just asking. BTW love your content
Many of them provide me with review copies, yes. Thanks for tuning in!
Nice Video! Where did you get the airport ground traffic that I see running around the airport?
Comes as part of the addon scenery.
ok thanks!
Can you download Navigraph data into the FMS? I don't see this aircraft on Navigraph's data download list.
Yes, I believe it uses the default x-plane dataset
@@catstrator thank you.
Hey can u do a flight from New York to Milwaukee!!??
So do you have anything else added on for this or is this ALL X-PLANE with nothing else added one?
Tons of addons.
Hi. I really like your videos. I was wondering if you could possibly do a LOT Polish Airlines Flight. I would love to see that
If there is no wind, what is the default runway that they use at KATL?
+Colin Boone No idea. I checked FlightRadar24 to see which way they were operating before I departed.
Can someone tell me what plugin is where they measure the landing
Such a nice plane and do you think a MacBook Pro on a large Apple monitor could run this plane with no lag??
+Aaron Price Check out the demo and see how your sim handles the default stuff. If you can pull 50-60 frames in the default aircraft you might be able to swing this plane. I would head over to x-plane.org and check the hardware section for people with similar setups.
From experience, you won't be able to pull this sim. You can check out some of my early vids to see how it runs.
nice video, a bit different to your laid back style, I like it!:)
+Dominic McCormack Thanks Dominic. These videos definitely have a different bit of flair to them. Pretty fun to make, too!
Nice video!, where I can find the scenary of KATL?
+mattia rinaldi ;)
+catstrator How did you get the winter textures in X-Plane?
Has anybody else ever had an issue in Xplane where the waypoints seem to be inaccurate? I fly the Flight Factor B757 and I tried doing the same flight as this one. I found problems such as there only being a CADIT6 and no CADIT1 departures. GLAZR did not lead to Q118. When I plugged in Q118 to my FMC the thing just said airway/waypoint mismatch. As for the arrival, I couldn't find any type of VEECK arrival at all. If anyone has any idea of what's going on please help me.
+Andrew Mitchell Make sure you're running the latest AIRAC update. If you're having trouble with waypoints I would make a post over at the support forums at x-plane.org.
Okay, Thankyou
I don't know what wrong am I doing but everything other than the map
and altitude meter shows up and they are still dark even after I've put the brightness to max. Everything works except the FMC and map
I'd post for help over at x-plane.org.
Wow, where are these runways for download?
+The Pilot's Life 97 They're part of the scenery packages linked in the description.
Now I will buy this beauty! Thanks C
It's a good one, Bruce :)
Please help! I just got the 767 and My Nav switches aren't working! anything that I can do to fix this?
Head over to the forums at x-plane.org with the question. They can help you there.
catstrator Thanks so much! means a lot that you reasponded!
Very Informative and enjoyable video - Thank you.
Thanks for tuning in!
great video, how did you get the snow around the airport & runway, is that an addon?
+s7473 It's part of the Chicago O'Hare scenery. Link in the description.
Great video buddy!
+Mets747 Thanks man :)
A great landing my Friend!!😊👌
Thanks!
Are these freeware clouds? If so what are they called? They look great!
HD Clouds v2
Excellent video . Thanks.
Thanks for tuning in!
Your videos are awesome dude!
Thanks Daniel!
Could you post your check list and maybe the FMC procedures Please
All of that info is in the official documentation.
Is it normal for an autothrottle system to roll back to idle just after takeoff?
+Alistair Brown I'm actually not sure. This happened due to the fact that the plane reverted to SPD mode just after takeoff. I was moving faster than the commanded speed so it throttled back accordingly. I don't know why it changed to SPD as I've not seen that happen before.
I have KORD I don't want the winter scenery how do I get rid of it
+Brandan Greene There is a folder that contains the summer textures inside the KORD scenery folder. Copy those out to the main folder.
Keep up the good work.
can you due flight from seattle wa to kord
Hello! So i just purchased Nimbus ORD, and i was wondering how to change from summer to winter. Could u help me? I went to the forums and it didn't help! Ha! Thank you Ty!
Your pal, Rex
There is a second folder inside the main that has the summer and winter textures. You have to copy them out of there. Should be instructions in the scenery somewhere.
How did u get the snow at the airport!!?! So cool
+Aaron Price It's built into the scenery
+catstrator and how to get summer textures?
Thanks for a great video.
Thanks for tuning in!
hey Catstrator, what kind of hardware do you use? saitek pro yoke or a hotas?
+blackchildproduction I use a Saitek X-55
Anyway to have this plane load on turn around state?
Sadly no. It's either on or off.
Awesome Video.
+Peter Lokey thanks!
hi, do you think this game will still work good in around 5 years time?
I see no reason why it won't just continue to get better.
Good vid as always Cat but in the real world you would not want those discos. That's basically the FMC telling you it doesn't know how you want to get to the next point.
How do you get the approach plates to show up on the screen?
+CajunFoots I edited them in.
ohare is actually in Rosemont Illinois
Good to know, thanks!
I laughed when you turned the ADP on w/ the APU off. Assuming the whole point of this is to be realistic, you wouldn't have hydraulics on with that little fuel, you would burn the pumps up.
Realistic to an extent. I don't usually sweat the small stuff ;)
are u going to fly with jeff again
+Jonathan Cordova Soon
Does this plane support company routes in the FMC?
Yes it does
Cool! Thanks.
funny, there are checklists to do it right, and you say, your way may not be the right way, so maybe you should use the checklists...
+FrauSchmitt I never thought of that, maybe I should!
Dude! you need to start your engines while your in pushback. Not after. It makes for a quicker start up!
+Joshua Grosvold The FlightFactor pushback truck doesn't really work well with that.
What weather and cloud injector are you using?
+Joe Fenske HD Clouds v2 and GS Global Real Weather
Do Aeromexico airline please
"Not so great switch covers"
More like "not so legit" as in the words of Jeff XD
+Sh0kGamingMC Hah!
+catstrator like seriously, you have to pull the opposite direction to get it in the way you want lol
epic victory anytime soon cat?
+Rodney Buckland You bet!
LIKE AND SUBBED. Because I flew skyteam Delta to same plane same area same depart and arrival to Chicago
+Husky Harris Woohoo! Welcome aboard!
Do you use any other add-ons? For the Quality?
I wasn't running much in this video. get most of my stuff from x-plane.org.
how do you stay on same altitude?
Autopilot
Where did you get that Delta livery?
+Luis Carlos Lopez Pedraza Kranky65 made it.
Doesn't
Everything
Leave
Through
Atlanta
+Thomas Harbauer Don't Ever Leave the Airport
looks GREAT. EVEN if it is x plane 10.
U live in Boston?!!
+NWVlogs I live on the north shore, close enough though.
What pushback addon are you using?
+VacuolePvP This video used the pushback built into the plane itself.
Ah ok
How do you get wing view?
+Charlie's X-Plane I used X-Planes built in camera funtionality
I have a question. Are u a real life pilot? Being a pilot is my dream job.
I am now. Just got my PPL a few weeks ago.
why all you say the FF767 is amazing?
I just got my 757 working, and I wish I could exchange it for the 767, lol
+Colin Boone Why ? I'm quite interested in the 757 and not too much in the 767, and I've heard that the latter is better, but is it in terms of the plane itself ?
+TheSkipjack95 no, not at all! The 757 one of my favorite planes of all time! I love flying it, and it's great in this simulator, but I just like the whole iPad system a bit better and the longer range of the 767, however, the 757 will always be more liked by me than the 767, but I think the 767 has been made better in the simulator. Both are very similar, and I would say that 757 and 767 are an equal bang for their buck in this simulator, but I like the views and whole iPad system better on the 767
+Colin Boone The 757 is really good and I probably have more time flying that in XP than any other aircraft. Hopefully all the improvements found on the 767 will make it over to the 75.
is there any good 747????
SSG 747 is okay, I have a video on the channel.
catstrator btw, I watch your Videos since about a month, and since I found your channel, I watched everyone Livestream, because they are funny and Entertaining. But I have twoquestions: Can you make a IXEG 737 Livestream soon and when do you stream on Friday? Sry for that bad english
How much does this game cost?
60 bucks
catstrator do you use disk or digital?
WHAT ARE 5
YOUR SPECS
I7 4790k @ 4.7ghz, AMD RX480, 32GB RAM
I have the same specs, but with a 4.2ghz CPU. I'm getting about 27FPS average and my settings are lower than yours. Does X-Plane 10 keep crashing ok your PC too?
Alright thanks
I subscribed to
Thanks Dawson :)
Snow? In XP?
WAT
No kidding, it's rare :)
Cat....I love your videos Man, but you really need to do something about the sky.
+Jack Flash What's wrong with the sky?
+catstrator I say this with love. I subscribe to your channel...I've learned a lot. I enjoy X-Plane.....but the default sky just doesn't measure up to the visual standards of the aircraft you fly or the advanced level in which you conduct your flights, which I always enjoy. Okay, you've made me say it.....the clouds look like crap. :))
+Jack Flash I wholeheartedly agree. Unfortunately the options we have are pretty limited. SkyMaxx clouds look better, but the IFR conditions are not simulated well and I've had a monstrous performance hit in the past when running them. HD Clouds v2 (which I run) are an improvement, but still not ideal. Generally I'm not willing to sacrifice the performance of my sim for marginally better visuals. Until we see something on the level of Rex come over combined with some changes to the rendering engine we're kinda sunk.
