holy fuck, this is like hearing a totally new soundtrack. I LOVE IT.
Besides instrumentation, how come the intro theme is so drastically different in composition? It's a lot funkier here.
Edit: oh! Because it's the non-Deluxe version of the tune. Damn, I'd forgotten all about that one.
woow, i like sound from gravis ultrasound, for me is much more better than sb awe 32 & 64.
Wait, wait, wait! Does it mean that for Gravis Ultrasound owners that was the original TTD soundtrack all way long since 1994? Sweeeet!
Roland/MIDI users weren’t that bad off either. I remember I got back into playing TTD after replacing my CreativeLabs SoundBlaster (v1) with the Orchid SoundWave 32 with I think an Roland MT-32 chip. Had to keep grinding because the music just sounded So Good.
It’s funny how some games excel in AdLib/FM-synthesis mode (e.g. Dune2) and others only shine with MIDI instruments. Depending on which “side” you were on at the time, many games can be worth revisiting/relistening to for this reason.
Gravis has no reverb? Here is the Original Soundtrack with a real Soundblaster AWE64 Gold in excellent quality: ua-cam.com/video/q3BoHcLnndU/v-deo.html
I literally can't play openTTD without putting on the legit music in the background. It's so good!
Comparing this to playing TTD on my retro system with real GUS, makes me wonder why people use the Pro Patches sound banks. I personally think the original GUS patches sound better, at least for this game. Cool rip though. Thanks for taking the time to record it all.
+InterruptRequest You're welcome! Perhaps I should set up my DOSBox environment so I could record with both PPL and the original soundfont. Unfortunately as of lately I've not have much time to work on this project due to my current job. Though I started a Patreon campaign, so I hope to solve this somehow.
Ultrasound indeed.
"Stroll On" was always my favorite track.
I had an Ultrasound, and I loved that.
This game and this music is the best!!! :-)
Oh yeah, back in the days i was rocking this game with the ultrasound ace addon card.
Is that possible to implement to Open TTD?
How do you get graphics like in the picture you used? Is there a graphics set I can use with OpenTTD to get these streets and houses? They're simply amazing!
Sorry, but I don't know what NewGRFs are used in this screenshots, as I just picked a nice-looking one from TT-Forums. You could take a peek on bananas.openttd.org/en/newgrf/ and look at various ones available on BaNaNaS, or you could try asking on the aforementioned forums.
its the north American city set but it is very hard to find I can give you a copy of the grf if I have it
Yes, that is the soundtrack like i renember it from my childhood. Apparently i had an Ultrasound back than. Forgot about that.... :)
John Broomhalls soundtracks from the 90s sound so good even today. X-COM also had such a great soundtrack thanks to him. The only soundtrack more awesome than his was the from Quake, done by NIN. Good times...
Sounds AWESOME! Once upon a time I had two Gravis Ultrasound Max cards and I used both together with Cube 3D program to get 3D sound with 4 independent channels. It was amazing. And after all those years I still love Gravis midi set quality as well as it's unbelievable sound power colours. :)
+teo700 Too bad that not a lot of game publishers/titles supported it! >:(

It's the original Transport Tycoon, not Transport Tycoon Deluxe. Sounds great though.
that is how I recall classic game, thank you!
Any chance of a reupload?
i can't forget: "SBOS Installed" :)
i need piano sheets for these brilliant songs !
Link is dead
23 years later... TT tunes are still going strong! :) I was working away and Easy Rider enters my mind for some unknown reason..... had to look it up and found this pearl... thanks!
"Aliens ate my railway!" worked the same thing for me. I remember spending half-a-year with this game only. Guess they just don't make them as they did these days.
Well, 23 later I play Transport Fever 2 listening to these songs so that says a lot!
TTD was the first game i played as a child - my brother showed me the game and always let me play it when we were together - for years i was humming "Stroll On" under the shower without knowing where it was from till i finally found it - god that felt so good - so till this day Stroll On has a special place in my heart and will for the rest of my life
Happens to me too. All of a sudden I’m like “oh I know - Stoke it!”
