In relation to the Saskatchewan provincial election, they didn't learn their lesson and re-elected a clone of Grant Devine's PC party, with Scott Moe and the Saskatchewan Party. Both are extremely corrupt, and scandal plagued, and have also done numerous very costly debacles and mistakes. The Alberta PCs had someone from Grant Devine's PC party in their party, which was Gordon Dirks.
In Alberta, Danielle Smith is getting very desperate in advance of her leadership review. This is why she is doing all kinds of different things to try and remain in power, so she doesn't end up like she did when she was the Wildrose party leader.
Danielle Smith has done very costly debacles that are extensive. Blew billions of dollars on various voter bribery schemes, including making Albertans pay $1.2 billion for the new hockey arena for Calgary, which Danielle Smith originally opposed, when she was the Wildrose party leader, and a radio talk show host, because she said it was very costly and unproven technology, blew around $2 billion on the gas tax holiday vote buying scheme, and so on. Blew $80 million on Turkish Tylenol. Blew $20 billion on the R-Star debacle. Blew around $100 million on the DynaLife debacle, which the UCP caused. Blew money on propaganda ads of various types, which cost us millions of dollars. Blew $253,000 and $2 million on Preston Manning to produce a covid report that is junk. Hired many more staff for their MLAs at a great cost to Albertans, including Danielle Smith's staff of 34. Created the largest provincial cabinet in Alberta's history, with 34 cabinet ministers and associate ministers. Blew money on a pointless excursion to Dubai. Hired more Conservative crony friends of the UCP to help dismantle AHS, which will solve nothing. Is blowing money on carbon sequestration, which Danielle Smith originally opposed, because she said it was very costly and unproven technology. Has more coal mining companies suing the UCP for $10.8 billion for breaking more contract agreements. Is blowing money on an office in Ottawa, which will have no practical purpose. Is blowing $2 million and added costs on someone else to produce another pandemic management report for Alberta. Is planning on using the Heritage Savings Trust Fund money for risky business projects, which wouldn't be able to survive on their own. Is blowing money on someone to do a study to see how feasible a high speed rail for Alberta would be. Is blowing $8.6 billion on building new schools, most of which will be charter schools, private schools, and other faith based schools, which are outside of the public education system in Alberta.
Danielle Smith and the UCP were negligent with the tailings pond leaks in northern Alberta, and now First Nations communities are suing the UCP and the AER for their negligence. The UCP cut red tape, and this resulted in hundreds of children getting sick after getting E-Coli at daycares in Alberta, and Danielle Smith and the UCP didn't deal with this right away.
The UCP have disrespected democracy in Alberta. UCP members, including a UCP MLA, were given fines for election related infractions, which totalled around $200,000, and the former so called 'premier' of Alberta went away to Texas on a useless jaunt, and fired the Alberta Elections Commissioner, Lorne Gibson, and his entire staff, who were investigating his leadership race, and issued the fines to the UCP members for not following the election rules.
Danielle Smith has hindered democracy in Alberta even more, by not allowing by-elections in ridings which lacked MLAs, reducing the Legislature sessions even lower, and by creating a bunch of bad bills, including Bill 1, Bill 8, Bill 10, Bill 11, Bill 18, Bill 20, Bill 21, and so on.
Danielle Smith broke conflicts of interest and ethics rules, and so did her MLAs. This includes with the Arthur Pawlowski incident, the Skybox hockey tickets, and so on. It's exactly why Danielle Smith created Bill 8. Bill 8 changes the gift limit amounts MLAs in Alberta can receive, which opens the door for MLAs to accept bribes, and this bill also prevents the Alberta Ethics Commissioner from investigating MLAs who are involved with unethical conduct, prior to a provincial election in Alberta, which makes it so that the MLAs can run in the provincial elections.
The things Danielle Smith promised Albertans would see if the UCP were re-elected in 2023, such as personal tax cuts, never happened. The things that Danielle Smith never put on the provincial election agenda for 2023, such as the very unpopular Alberta Provincial Pension Plan and the very unpopular Alberta Provincial Police Force, she is pursuing.
Former Conservative politicians in Alberta are exactly correct when they say that Danielle Smith and the UCP can't be trusted, because they are so dishonest.

Yet more people voted for her than the NDP. How much worse must the NDP be???

28:30 isn't it the opposite, refusing to acknowledge any of the concerns of the constituency (which I'm fine with tabulators) will increase trust.
Your suggesting that ignoring this small (minority) constituency concerns will increase their trust in election.
This seems like a perfect way of quelling their claims of "stolen" elections, for a fairly cheap price, which the province should cover.

Amazing how many people think that Alberta/Canada can do without oil and gas revenue. What other industry in this province could possibly make up that income and allow us to turn off the taps? It isn’t solar and wind revenues, I’m 100% certain of that. Maybe tax the heck out of anyone with any money and chase investment out of the province? The world’s dependence is far from done on oil and gas, look around you and at what you do in your own life. Still using fuel for heat and transportation, still using it for plastic, fertilizer and steel production. Heck look at what your phone or tablet is made out of. I’m certain a transition will happen, but it will happen at a pace much slower than a lot of “experts” claim. Again look around you…………. It can’t be forced, it will come as technology evolves.
