I just hope someday artists will put their egos aside and see we're in this as a collective for the sake of music and culture. That Grammys show back in the 80s, I can't remember the precise year, But it was the best Grammys show ever!! To have all three of my favorite artists on. Too bad ya'll had to be put against each other. I hardly watched the Grammys anymore. If a artists is good, they should all have awards in my book. I'm currently following an artist Alejandro Aranda who changed his brand to Scarypoolparty . He seems to be struggling in his career since. I wonder if the name change has anything to do with it? And do you have a music page to hear more songs. You have a very talented family. Heard your niece's album the other day. Nice!

I don’t think it’s necessarily that he couldn’t rock out… It’s just the fact that he would have to capture that kind of Fanbase almost all over again because the Fanbase that he captured was the soul R&B fans so then when he switched it up they were like oh OK then he’s going that way never mind… Lenny Kravitz started off like that, for the most part and did a nice little blend.. so it was a little different! .. then he changed his name after that!! so it then he had to kinda start over again!! by then people were A little too thrown off and we’re just ready to MoveOn .. me personally I never stopped being a fan because I can appreciate the musical diversity and he still has a lot of soul & soul oriented songs like that as well! But some people who like R&B that’s like their only genre for the most part, and they don’t really like to rock out like that so it would throw them off.. but understanding an artist I’m not knocking him, and I’m sure he was conscious enough that that’s a chance that you have to take that it could make you fall off a little bit, and if he ever changed his mind back, unlike artists like Prince. it would probably be too late . Because like I said it was more than just a name change.. but at least he stayed true to himself! 💯🙏🏻ps. I do have to say though that it was still trendsetting foundation Laying style, because that would’ve been perfectly fine these days lol..

It’s very interesting and I do always find it a bit unusual that Sananda feels that MJ had that much input in his career. Michael had issues with Sony, when he bought the catalogue he knew exactly why he bought it, not just for money but he also believed that black artists should own their work. I do not believe he would have purposely sabotaged Sananda. I had a brief conversation with Michael about Sony in 2002 and was present for speeches he did regarding racism in the music industry. Sony did to Michael in 2001 what they did to Sananda in late 80s.
I do think it’s a bit of playing the artists against each other, They (Sony etc…) are the puppet masters and the artists are the puppets. Thankfully Sananda, Prince, Michael and I think George Michael (?) escaped their clutches but in Michael’s case they went after him in many ways as he owned the catalogue. Sananda is an amazing artist, one of my favourite’s and 100% should be up there with the rest of the greats.
Darren seems like a good guy too, good energy.
