    I used to think grave yards are scary grim place. But now? I see them as a peace garden and tribute to the lives of each individual.

    Y'all know she and her family were watching! So special to see younger generations helping keep history alive and honoring it.

    Excellent video! I am super distantly related to the Beardsleys. I believe their family was from Stratford, Connecticut before moving out to New York. My Beardsleys stayed in Stratford/Trumbull/Roxbury!

    Wow she had a sad life. Her first son died at 5, second died at 1, third died at 2. Her daughter died at 14, second daughter died at 39. Her last son made it to 49. In her 30’s alone she lost 3 children.

    I enjoy very much watching a person come from TODAY to attend to a stone ( person ) from the past that family is no longer close or existing.

    We have a cemetery on our property that's been here since the 1800s. It's not anyone in our family but it hasn't been willed like cemeteries have to now where it has to be willed to a family member so that it gets taken care of. It's in the Western New York area. It's in Wyoming county. We don't have the money or the knowledge or anything like that to fix it. We have a farm and it has been in disrepair for so long. My husband bought the farm in the year 2000 and it has been bad since before he moved in. And they're supposed to be Gates around it to keep it's safe and it's broken everything's just it's just not in a good shape. I would love to do something like this where I could go and fix the cemetery for the people that are there. I don't want to see the name of the cemetery cuz then people can find out who we are and I don't want to deal with the bad comments like why don't you fix it why don't you do this why don't you do that when the headstones are really old and they weigh a ton it's hard to pick them up we don't know where the bodies are in there we don't want to put the headstones up on the wrong grave. They're very close together. So I don't want to see the comment but if you had some suggestions maybe you couldn't comment and I can give you my email and we can email back and forth maybe you could tell me how I start trying to get it fixed. Right now it's snowing and we can't really do anything in the snow but I would love to get it fixed up. I guess about 10 or 15 years ago there was a group that wanted to come and fix it up and they never did. The one guy was a general in the war can't remember how much more but it was in the 1800s. He was born in the 1700s I think he was born in 1776 or 1777. So it's very old. I would love to see it restored like you restore these ones. And bring some dignity back to the people who are there. And I feel so bad about not being able to fix it up like really bad we don't have the money or the knowledge to be able to do it. We have a farm and we don't get paid a ton of money Farmers definitely don't get money like everybody thinks it's best family owned and run Farms like we have. I would absolutely love to maybe learn how to fix it up so even if I can't get the headstones off the ground I can at least get the headstones cleaned up. And it's so old I don't know what to use on the stone. I didn't know that you guys use those to clean it off cuz I didn't want to use a scrubber cuz I was afraid it was going to ruin it. Maybe you can comment and I can give you my email and you can give me some tips on how to try to get it back into a respectable state even if I can't get the stones off of the ground. There were some people in the family that were mad that we didn't fix the wrought iron fence around the cemetery. And they told the town in the town said it's their property if there's no ordinance for it and we can't force them to do it if they don't have the money to fix it they don't have the money and we really don't have the money to do it. I would love to fix it and I told the lady that came here if you want to fix it you can fix it go ahead why I don't have the money to do it you're getting mad at me for not having the money to fix it you don't have the money to fix it and it's your family. I mean we can barely pay our bills and feed our family and we have two small children and a teenager I mean the last thing that we're going to spend money on is a cemetery for people that aren't our family. They were mad because the cow was getting there we have towels on our farm and the cows get into the cemetery we try to put lines up around it but the cows go through the lines it's got four huge trees around it. We don't have the money to fix it we tried doing it ourselves picking up the old wrought iron fence pieces and getting them back together and my husband tried to fix them so that they can't get in there but we don't have the money it's not free to do it and we just don't have the money and I talked to the lady and I told her listen you're more than welcome to come anytime you want to bring whoever you want to fix the cemetery up you can come any day I don't care I'll never tell you can't come you want to have them come the fence company come and fix the fence be my guest more than happy for you to do that and she told me she doesn't have the money that I should do it because it's on my property. We can barely afford to pay our bills because we have a farm to run and we barely break even I mean sometimes we're losing money running the farm every month the last thing on my mind is to take money off the family finances to fix the cemetery I would love to do it actually love to get it fixed I would love to do it for them but we just don't have the money to and I felt so bad that the lady was basically telling me what a scumbag I was because I wasn't fixing it it's been like that since the '60s the fences have been down since way before my husband even bought the property the lady who owned this before said her husband wasn't going to fix the cemetery up because they didn't have the money either and his cows one in there and knocked over a bunch of stones like I said we try to put lines up around it but the cows go through it it needs to have a rot on your fence and we just can't afford to fix it. I guess he tried to put up a stone and got the stone up but the stone fell down because they didn't put it up right and the cows weren't even anywhere around it and it fell down because he doesn't know what materials and stuff to use. I would love to get it fixed I see all your videos and I would love to do that for these people and maybe you can tell me some tips and tricks or something I can do to try to get it so at least the people have their names that can be seen

      You need to write a book! Then take the royalties and hire him to come repair everything! I bet a short, to the point, comment would have gotten a reply, but tbh, he seldom responds to anyone! He does great work, but I’m always suspect of UA-camrs that rarely, if ever, respond to viewer comments or questions. It gives the strong statement that “Look what I did! Now go away!” is his goal. I feel your pain though!

      I just want you to know i read your comment and i know you are doing your best. Being a farmer is very hard work, but without you there wouldn’t be food on the table. (When i lived in NJ we found two headstones on our property, and couldnt find any history about them. This was over thirty years ago, a long time before the internet had info like this! Good luck and i hope something works out for you.)

    Question. Something our family has started to do. We take rebar. And put it on the corners of the stone. We do not touch the stone we put it in the earth. This way the corners are not hit when they do mowing. They are protected. We put the rebar in the earth, So it does not come out. Or up.

    I need help for my daughter's gravestone. It's a granite headstone but I think from the water it's brownish black. She was buried 3 days after she was born. She was born on July 10,1989. Her name is MicHEALia Kristina panko. She was a full term baby I had her at the age of 17. Her headstone looks horrible and I can barely see her name or the baby lamb on the headstone. Can you help me? Like the chemicals I'll need to clean up her headstone. Please help me. She is buried at the Catholic cemetery in Stockton California. Makes me upset looking at the headstone and my babygirl deserves to be visible. Makes me sad looking how the water and sun to her granite headstone.

    Have you ever used JAHN restoration mortars? Might be able to use JAHN at the spalling. Cept it costs a lot so might be outside the scope of your free repairs.
    Could you dowel the tablet into the base or would that be too risky??

    Why not fill the cracks of the base with a thin epoxy, something that can penetrate, followed by the putty?

    You drill 2 holes in the bottom off the headstone and fill the slot full of cement and erect the headstone with the pins in the slot ,clean the headstone ,2 hours work at the most, a lot time wasted,

      Jonathan, the base was already weak and broken. Drilling holes in it could just make it break in a different spot.

    • @scottemery4737
      @scottemery4737 Рік тому +2

      @@jaymz350 the base had broken and been repaired twice, at least. At some point you have to decide it's not worth it, and go for a new base.

      Have you noticed that this dude never responds to comments? The work he does is notable, but having a UA-cam channel and not interacting with your viewers is telling me that, in his opinion, we should be honored to have the opportunity to see him, but don’t have the gall to think I want to communicate with you! That’s a shame! I agree with your point, as putting it back together exactly as it came apart is just repeating history! But I’m just a retired welder. What would I know!?
