I love your deep dives when you actually make something I know you’re promoting your product but still it’s nice to see the product get used in actually create something
Hey Jeff, I love these videos ... they are interesting, well organized and easy to follow. Woodpecker tools are something any woodworker covets, I just wish the allowance my wife gives me would allow more of them. Cheers!!
Hi Jeff, I love your deep dives on the tools you provide. I only have one suggestion for you and your team. There are many products that you use on your deep dive that are not the focus of the video, however they may be useful. As an example you used the centering ruler. It would be nice to have a link to all the products used in the video for purchase. I have noticed that other UA-camrs do this and it really helps. Thanks again for your deep dive videos.
Funny you ask...just decided (less twenty minutes ago) to share that in next week's Deep Dive! Just need a pencil, a piece of scrap, two brads, a roll of double-face tape and a flat square (our Precision Triangles are perfect).
Whoa! Jeff, the center of your stock is the intersection of two lines from each diagonally opposite corner. It doesn't involve measuring, just a straight edge. 2:17 time mark
As I mentioned in a reply to Steven Jaynes below, I need a center-line not a center-point. Diagonals would give me the center-point. You could construct a center-line from the diagonals if you wanted to avoid measuring, but at some point there would be more layout lines than I personally would be able to keep track of.
Jeff? Why not just note the intersection of two diagonal lines? It doesn’t sell rulers, but is WAY faster and less prone to errors than measuring to two center points??? Very nice pocket compass.
Two diagonals would have given me center, but I needed the starting axis (12 and 6 o'clock), too. I suppose I could have drawn diagonals and then used them to construct a vertical line bisecting the "X". Didn't think about it. Like I said in the video, Mr. Barnes' Geometry class was a lonnnnnggggg time ago.
@@johnburger3287 Yes they do. It is one of the things that makes Woodpeckers; one of the best companies and service extraordinaire in the world. Amazon does the same thing. eBay doesn't and many others companies don't. SHAME on them...Bahumbug!
Awesome video Jeff! I bought your compass set a while back and it’s great. This will be another new way to use it. I like the red handled awl you were using where can I find one? Thanks, Frank C
I just love it when Jeff Farris is the teacher. I consider him one of THE best teachers on all of UA-cam video's. Thank you kind Sir!

Thanks for the geometry lesson, Jeff. Now I need to put it to use and make a clock. 👍😀
Already ordered mine, thank you for all the nice work you guys do
Great project Sir!

Glad you like them, Dave!
Interesting. I would have measured angles, so this was a great new method for me.

Good suggestion! We'll add that in on this one and try to remember it in the future.
very nice
I love Woodpeckers, but I've successfully made lots clock with my cheap and ancient compass and protractor 😄
A great lesson on laying out the 12 points, but how did you get the oval?

@@WoodpeckersLLC well, I have a Woodpecker's 1281 square, so I'd just make sure to run my line through the center I found with the diagonals. :)
All you need is a straight edge, a compass, and a pencil. Very basic drafting.
Couldn't take my eyes off the light switch!
Don Drumm Studios in Akron, Ohio. Really cool sculptural art.
hello from mexico city
Olá boa tarde.porque a Woodpeckers não espande essas ferramentas para outros países como o Brasil por exemplo? São maravilhosas essas ferramentas

@@WoodpeckersLLC agreed. Building the perpendicular 12 o’clock line would be another quick job with the Pocket Compass or a Woodpecker square!
I have a question about the tool..? When you order them are you charge upfront or when they ship...?
If you order directly from Woodpeckers and pay them directly (not Paypal for instance) you are not charged until your item is shipped.

I’ve decided to stick with bird houses and feeders. The birds aren’t fussy and don’t care what time it is.
I don't understand why Woodpeckers sent me an email today with a link to a Deep Dive for a one-time tool that has been retired and not in stock.
Sorry. It's on re-offer right now and I didn't fix the link. Try this: www.woodpeck.com/ott-pocket-compass-2023.html
