Everyone talking about the flute, but whoever is on the drumkit clearly has arms the size of Heracles, a titanium drumkit and pure rhythm flowing from their soul.
Hades II absolutely needs to win "Game of the Year" and "Best OST" awards whenever it officially releases. So maybe 2024 or 2025. Whenever it is, it truly deserves the awards
If you listen closely at certain points in the background when the 4 notes play over and over (ex. 1:01), they're the same as the ones in In the Blood (specifically at 2:12 of that song). A really cool callback.

@@Mantafirefly The featured musician, Josh Plotner, shows on his instagram that he is playing a regular, western concert flute (plus a bass version) on this track. My day one purchase was justified by this one track itself. Its that good. Waited 3 years patiently to hear Darren cook once more and he never fails to deliver.
This has to be one of my favourite tracks in Hades II. When I stepped into the Necropolis in game, just had to full on stop for a few minutes to just bop to the music. It’s so good. Thank you so much Darren
It's interesting. In the first game, there's only one track that has woodwinds in it, because the story primarily takes place in the Underworld, and the dead don't breathe. Here it looks like they're keeping to that, but because they're tracks where there are enemies and bosses, the woodwind instruments (flute, sax, etc.) go absolutely nuts.
This reminds me of the fight music in Bauldur's Gate 3 with the bass/whatever the string is here and it's tempo, but it a really good way. And it keeps surprising me when I think it's over with another instrument, the flute caught me so off guard it woke me up from my nap lol. It's so good!!!
In a game of amazing tracks, this piece still manages to stand out. Holy fuck it’s good - even the toned down version for when you’ve already cleared all enemies is a work of art. So many kudos. Gonna be listening to this for the next year at minimum
I've been absolutely glued to this game, and the boss version of this song still gives me absolute chills. Insane. Would love to work on games like these guys someday. Thanks for this game, Supergiant ❤️
This is by far the best track on the entire soundtrack, in the way The Exalted was easily, hands-down, the best track on the first. Fucks unbelievably hard. 11/10 based god Darren Korb knocked it out of the park again
If yall like the flute on this track you should check out The Magician by Blood Ceremony, but also their whole discography. Living with the Ancients has good flute and church organ.
I love this song I just really with yall included a snippet of the bass solo when you’re in the fountain area of the main city bc it goes so hard by itself
Hey SGG, how about trying to get a "flute off" between Pedro Eustache and Josh Plotner on a Necropolis rendition during the TGAs next year (where it is mathematically certain that Darren & co.'s work will be nominated).
