Jake Piseno Film Breakdown

- Jake Piseno has risen to be one of the best poles in the country in the last two years and still remains criminally underrated. In the 2024 pre season top 50 he was only ranked 49th in the country even after being named defensive player of the tournament at the world games. Standing at 5’8 he is deemed undersized by most analysts yet he doesn’t play like it. He is characterized by insane over the head checks and a better shot than most offensive players in the country. In the 2024 season so far he leads the country with 23 caused turnovers with only seven games under his belt. On top of that he has 5 goals and 31 ground balls, all of these flashy stats tend to over shadow the fact that he is also a lockdown defender with amazing footwork. Today I am going to show you why Jake Piseno is the most dynamic defender in college lacrosse.

Disclaimer: that over the head check is MUCH harder to pull off than piseno made it look. Unreal
Especially at that level.
i tried on my friend im 6ft and i can hardly do it without hitting helm
Thx the film breakdown helped me better understand how to play defense/lsm more better
Would you be able to do another film breakdown on mccabe millon, maybe using his highschool film? Great video as always.
Great, and subtle player. Great, and subtle breakdown.
Credit to the Albany staff for letting the guy be himself. Many college defenses are very rigid/scheme orientated and don’t allow for this type of play. Miss watching the take away guys. Seems like that style of play has been fading since the early aughts.
This is crazy… this is exactly how I used to play back in ‘09, but no one wanted to take chances on D players back then. They wanted big, tall and sturdy defenders… haha so great to see the game evolving
Another excellent breakdown. This is really valuable for the young players out there
Glad to hear it!
I can say that as a bigger offensive player, I have always enjoyed initiating contact into my defender in a similar manner to the way Shellenburger attempts to do in this clip, for Piseno to have the ability to read that move by the offensive player is coming and then also throw and over the head check is ridiculous.
His game is beautiful 😍 mans is skilledddd beyond his ranking
Being able to keep your feet moving and body in good position while throwing that many checks is so incredibly difficlt
Great breakdown!
Great breakdown
Nice Video CT!
Need a reminder later once again 😇
Fantastic breakdown brother. We want more!
🔥🔥🔥
He’s also 5’8
For you youngesters, learn how to throw an oth without sacrificing position. Its a dummy check to give your ding dong some credibility later in the game. This kid is very good but a lot of those oth checks are home run checks. They either land, or younsavagely get burned
btw shelly had 6 points on his head 😭
shoutout the analysis
Coached my teammates and is very close with my head coach, even living with my goalie. Can wait to see him in April, he’s a great player.
