I thought it was saying that “wallaby” kind of sounds like “wee lil boy”? But not really? I’m stumped.
The funniest joke in this segment is that graphics has real work to do.
Every jackal is suspicious when graphics has to do “real work”. It means someone had to go down there and talk to them
Like putting Trump on roller skates or a pigeon against the wrong brick backdrop.
I imagine his graphic team is 2 guys who usually sit around playing video games and thus get annoyed when a request comes in. Probably compete to see who can make the graphic in less time.
I love how graphics doing some "real work" is something you can do in PowerPoint in two seconds.

This is my favorite section 🥰 I absolutely love how Seth doesn't hide his writers, it gives the whole show a touch of sincerity many other good comedy shows lack.
There is that. Of course, a cynical person might say it's also a handy way to pad out 10 minutes by telling some jokes that they couldn't fit in anywhere else (...but not me, obviously) 😉
Also I love the sense we get that his writers are the ones pulling the strings and this is Seth’s only way to push back. it’s like permissive parents begging their kids to just stop and please try, if you want , to be better behaved, please.
@@GusMcGuire Seth does a lot of meta humour which sets him apart from the daily show graduates I think. Like Wally, corrections and the thorn birds/Sea captain story arc during lockdown... love it.

Omg that’s exactly what I thought! I was like this joke belongs on snl, definitely something Che would say and then the audience would groan and he’d be “what 🤷🏾♂️”
I loved that heart joke because **rant** until the nineties the American Heart Association only funded heart research for old white men. My son was born with a heart defect in 1987. He died in 2004. In the meantime Dick Cheney was getting a state of the art treatment.
I like the peanut butter/ dog joke, too. Maybe because, as a dog mom, it was relatable.
Hats off to Matt for coming to see his jokes bomb in real time.

Usually the jokes are just silly but this round, like the peanut butter and wallaby and last jokes, I really didn't get them.

1:29 apparently I wasn't the only one who heard _"Scollins_ celebrated Burns supper" instead of Scotland, the closed captions say the same thing 😂 on listening to it again, I think he does say Scotland but like Scollins was still on his mind from the joke before 😅
I heard it too, lol. I thought the punchline of Dads doing burn supper, would be that they do a roast battle dad-joke style.
Finally got to see my favorite show IN PERSON yesterday! Asked Seth a question in the audience and SHOOK WALLY’S HAND!!! Awesome experience. THANK YOU!

I like how Seth has gone from absolutely hating the Surprise Inspection graphic to just accepting that it's there and moving on
The fact that the first time he saw it he was like "they'll come up with something better next time" and they never did and he never mentioned it again

You can always tell a Scollins joke even before Seth names him, his dark humor like that heart joke always makes me laugh out loud 🤣 It's great to see Seth's awesome writers get the credit they deserve!
I have never seen this bit before, just shows how charismatic Seth actually is because he can actually tell the jokes and you want them to be funny.
They would just call this “Jokes that Jimmy Fallon would definitely tell and laugh at even if he didn’t get the joke”

Karen Chee is brilliant. They should do more of those bits of Seth & Karen where they show pictures of things to each other & see if the other person knows what it is. 😂 Hilarious.
I feel like there's a point where Karen shows Seth a piece of paper, and Seth is like "What is this?", and Karen is like "It's the cost of rent in New York we need a raise", and the whole writing team appears on set with arms crossed.
(Real talk though.. we might really be looking at a writer's union strike soon, regardless of how well Seth treats his team. Rumblings be getting louder.)

Have to say, usually I like some of the jokes in this segment, but these time there were all truly failures. Wonderful.

I swear I knew the wallaby joke was Karen’s before he even said her name. It just had a such a sweet childlike earnestness to it I couldn’t imagine it being anyone else’s
Scollins nailed the Cheney joke and the opposite day jokes.
'Opposite day' was solid (no pun intended), but fits Scollins' persona better than Seth's.

I wonder what it’s like working for him. He seems fun and chill. I’m sure there’s a serious side, but he doesn’t seem to be disrespectful or unkind.
How funny! This was so terrific. He and his writers have such a great rapport and friendship! I really liked Matt who was actually there and took it all as good fun! He was terrific. Thank you Seth for another great episode! I also loved the Wednesday/Thing joke, think that should be given high praise!
Some of these portmanteaus required really careful pronunciation, so hats off to Seth. (I'm sure he worked extra hard to make sure the jokes would fall flat on the premise, rather than the delivery. :)
That Wednesday joke was perfect. I wanna say in was Karen, but we may never know.

This Segment is one of my favorites because it really allows you to actually get to know the writers, because laughing at their good jokes is great n all, but seeing their failures, really to their desperate attempts to submit content shows much more about them than any joke that butchers the audience.
Do you really expect me to believe that as the youngest writer on the show Karen Chee doesn't watch this on UA-cam even if she doesn't see it live? She totally knows her joke got burned.
As a person who occasionally speaks english. I laughed at the brit joke, you see I had the bonnet up on the lorrie checkin the tickover with a torch when I heard it.
There are usually some that aren't too bad in here, but that was a pretty rough crop of jokes. It's actually good to have this segment just to remind everyone that writing jokes isn't easy.

That was a joke about putting peanut butter on your genitals and having a dog lick it off. Not so funny now, is it? Or is it funnier? I don't even know anymore.

The peanut butter joke was two jokes in one: an innocent joke about tricking your dog in to taking his meds, and an old dirty joke. My reaction: “Scollins!”

The puddle she's sitting in is coming from her vagina.
