Great Reaction, I like the dissection and your thoughts 👍 I suggest for a Metal Monday Epsiode "BAD OMENS - CONCRETE JUNGLE" - "Spiritbox - Circle With Me " - "Whitechapel - Anticure" have a nice day 🤘
Rammstein freaked out a part of the fanbase with this song since these guys aren't the youngest, and they said multiple times that if one decides he's done, they all retire. Thankfully doesn't seem like it's their goodbye yet - but it does make an absolutely fantastic last song for live shows (and dude, Rammstein live is a bucket list item!!!).
Oh yes when we listened to that album my BF and I were scared that it will be the last. But I've read somewhere that Paul said that they won't quit and the album was more kinda based on what happened with covid and during lockdown. And if you think about if covid and the lockdown wouldn't have happened, we might not have that album but a different one most likely much later. And also I think if they really would quit than they would have already made an announcement and not going on like nothing is happening
I agree. And I don't think that they're underestimated. They've been tremendously successful worldwide despite the fact that they sing in German and not in English. I can barely think of any band with such a huge success singing in their native language (not being English).
Rammstein have run full credits at the end of a few of their videos over the past few years. I was impressed that the also ran credits on the big screens on their stage set up at the end of their concerts this year. It takes a lot to put on a stadium tour (their stage alone take 60+ hours to set up) and it was a nice touch to run credits after the show.
For the lifelong rammstein fans this video hits hard... So many throwbacks and links to old songs and videos. If you've grown up and grown old with these dudes it's an emotional watch
Just like you, I was intrigued by the use of french, english then german in the chorus. As a french-german native speaker, this is really interesting because you can interpret it as a gradual closeness almost. 'Adieu' is a final goodbye, the eternal kind. It means there won't EVER be another time when you'll see the person you're speaking to. 'Goodbye' is self-explanatory, you're greeting them at the end, but you *might* see them again. It leaves a possibility. 'Auf wiedersehen' in german translates literally to 'To the next seeing'. You *will* see them again. I think it reflects pretty well the tonal change you picked up on in the lyrics. Does anybody think similarly?
Found this on their fb page. ""Adieu" was directed by Specter Berlin and shot in Paris at the beginning of May over the course of 3 days - including one night in the Garnier Opera. It was the first time the latter allowed explosives to be used on their marble, also making a unique exception for Rammstein to use smoke on the premises."
Some facts about Rammstein :) Till Lindemann is a poet too, and published at least two books with his poems. He is also a licensed pyrotechnicians, since a lot of the locations and other pyro technicians refused to work on their fire shows. Till wanted also to make sure, that the rest of the crew is safe, and to be able to do that, it was necessary to learn the profession. The lyrics of Rammstein are in general with a lot of deeper meaning, or woven in criticism, but in a way, that you have to listen multiply times, to actually hear the actual meaning. The reason for that, was their upbringing in east Germany, where you weren't allowed to criticize anything from the government, or do something provocative and out of the norm. They have at least over 18 trucks and two XXL cranes for their tours, and the assembly of their stage takes around 60 hours. Rammstein is the second most successful German band in the world, only surpassed by The Scorpions. Even the side projects of the members are taking of, like "Emigrate" from Richard Kruspe (One of the two guitarists), which is also worthy of a Monday react. Till himself has also a side project with the swede Peter Tägtgren, called "Lindemann". Till is also known for being extreme, when some performances' need it. There is a song called "Ich tu dir weh (I'm hurting you)" where a hole was poked into his cheek, to stick a small LED-Light through it, to make his mouth shine from the inside. As it was stated previously, by @MissIssay, the band will immediately stop existing, should any of them decide to stop, and leave the band.
Hey, I saw some of your reactions to ERB recently and I thought: "Man, he's deep into history, I wasn't expecting that. And he's also reacting to metal/rock, he should be reacting to Sabaton.” They are a Swedish rock band, they make songs about historically important events/people/things/... I would recommend songs like: - "To Hell and Back" [ a song about an American soldier in World War II, and PTSD ] - "Bismarck [ a song about the German battleship ] - "Christmas Truce" [ a song about a World War I armistice ] Greetings from Germany
That's just them. When they were in Minneapolis for the arena tour, after the show, they literally had the entire production credits scrolling up. Once upon a time, I was a theater tech running spots. We are effectively part of the scenery. When we get acknowledged we feel a little weird about it, because it's never expected. I'll tell you, I saw that and got a little bit emotional about it, that they would do something like that. It just shows how aware, and how appreciated the group is for everyone's work.
Loved the video as always! I'm sure you'll enjoy Rammstein's song Angst which has some great doubles. Before listening to it, it's good to know that "schwarze Mann" not only literally translates to "black man", but also (and maybe even moreso) means "boogeyman".
Lots of fans were theorizing that it was their last song. It's the final track on their latest album Zeit, which is time in German. The fact that it came out in April, they are touring into late next year, and they haven't said anything about stopping, makes most of their fans realize that no it isn't.
Great reaction. 👍 I've read that Rammstein was asked whether this is a goodbye of the band and they answered that this is not their intention and they don't have plans to end up with their music. The whole album - which has a kind of melancholic touch (even in the funny tracks) - was made under the impression of personal losses of the band members. In this context, lyric-wise "Adieu" looks to me as the feeling of a lost fight against death ... not of the own death, but of loved ones ... and to finally accept that there is nothing to stop it. A kind of sad acceptance of the inevitable. The video has a lot of references to former albums of the band - especially to their album "Mutter" whereafter they almost terminated Rammstein. But they reinvented themselves and continued. So the last scene with the credits could be the alternative end when they would have failed to step away from "Mutter". But as almost always, Rammstein offers multiple ways to interpret their art. Maybe you want to checkout more songs & videos from Rammstein. In this case I have a few suggestions. If you want to see their (incredible) live performances I would suggest (in this sequence) Rammlied (live from Madison Square Garden) Du hast (live from Paris) Engel (live from Madison Square Garden) Sonne (live at Rock im Park 2017) Links 2 3 4 (live from Madison Square Garden) Ich will (live from Hurricane Festival 2016) Ich tu dir weh (live from Madison Square Garden) (don't take the lyrics too serious) Amazing official videos Sonne (Sun) heavy, screwed up fairy-tale Links 2 3 4 (left) partly heavy march Ich will (I want) heavy, simple, way to celebrity Spring! (Jump!) (fan-made animated version with english subtitles) slow, partly heavy, very dark sarcasm! Radio (Radio) catchy song (with serious background) Keine Lust (not in the mood) heavy, funny, slidely sad Newest official videos from their last album "Zeit" in sequence of the tracks on the album: Zeit (Time) slow, dark, melancholic, emotional Zick Zack (Snip Snap) catchy song, sarcastic, funny Angst (Fear) very Rammstein, scary, credits at the end are helpful to understand the message Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) heavy (most of the time), catchy, funny, credits are funny too (my view) I wish you to enjoy your Rammstein journey.
So glad you returned to Rammstein. Keep this metal monday thing going bro, and try out some Nightwish, Weak Fantasy (live from Tampere). You'll be breaking that down forever and a day lol
Saw them in Montreal last August. This was the last song of their set it was awesome, everyone was singing with the band. I still have goosebumps. I think other Rammstein songs to react to could be Zeit, Sonne, Mutter or Mein Hertz Brennt. Theres too many good songs. Edit: The song playing at the end of the video is called Zeit. Edit 2: When Rammstein did their last tour they had a crew of 250 people plus they hire another 250 locally.
You are not the only one. It will be my last song when being cremated. My dad, also a Rammstein fan, died almost 2 years ago and I chose Ohne Dich as last song. If this song would have been out, that would easily have been my choice.
Yo Knox, I think you should probably take a look at ''Christmas Truce'' By Sabaton for Metal Mondays. there are a metal band that mainly focuses on military history and knowing your appreciation for history I think you would enjoy their work. In this specific song, they sing about the unofficial ceasefires along the Western Front of the First World War around Christmas 1914 with spectacular Cinematography and epic beats.
This video is so amazing. I watched it on repeat when it first released. They also played it as their final song at a concert i was at. It was my first rammstein concert ever, and i've been looking forward to it for almost three years, because it was resceduled multiple times cause of the lockdowns in germany. I always wanted to see Rammstein live, ever since i first listened to them as a little kid (beeing born in 97 i grew up with their songs. Theyve had a huge impact on me with thier lyrics and their poetry and art) The whole experience of the concert was just so emoionally overwhelming. FINALLY beeing able to see hem live! And then that song at the end. God i cried so much, but out of pure joy and euphoria mixed with sadness. It was really something ive never experienced like this bevor, at no other concert or festival ive been to so far (this beeing the first live performance i saw after three years of also made it so much more impactfull) They are truly someone who can touch ones soul deeply. Sorry for the rambly comment. I love your reactions, even if i found you only by chance a few days ago. But man, the way you analyse and feel the songs you listen to, and give us a view of what it means to you is just amazing! Keep it up, ill come back to see more of your great content! Specially metal-mondays ;) Also, if you feel like some more Rammstein, i really love their video for "Ich will" (a video they also really enjoy) and their twist on their own song "Haifisch" ,basicly turning the whole meaning upsidedown with the video as an ironical, dark twist. Id love to see you react to more Rammstein, or other metal f ya feel like it :) Greetings and much love from Germany
The last melody with the credits is the instrumental version of their song Zeit, a very good and moving song. I still can't stop listening to it, it touches a very sensitive part of my mind or soul, idk. Really recommend.
Again great and thoughtful reaction. Rammstein members are in the late 50‘s, and I guess they‘re about to leave a legacy and say goodbye to what they‘ve (amazingly) been for decades. If you like check Mein Herz brennt, the Piano Version, it‘s a masterpiece in the tradition of the great Bertolt Brecht.
If you do want a recent Rammstein song that it a little more on the fun side check out "Dicke Titten". The auto generated English subs on the official work great.
Rammstein have so many incredible songs, especially if you want to break down the lyrics too. They also have brilliant live performances, so for the songs that don't have a music video, definitely look at the live performances, they are stunning Zeit, Mein Herz Brennt are some great choices to break down, but most of their newest album has all-around great lyrics Till Lindemann also has a side project for songs that are too "extreme" for Rammstein (imagine that lol), you can find those under the band name Lindemann, and they are some of Till's most haunting, beautiful, and artistic lyrics
Metal Mondays are the best Mondays. Your analysis is so engaging and interesting! Beautiful breakdown. This video/song is all kinds of layered and there’s little Easter eggs peppered in here and there for the fans but I think for the most part you nailed it! If you end up doing any other Rammstein I gotta recommend: Zeit Mein Herz Brennt (piano version) Both are incredible. Keep up the awesome work! Cheers
along with your deeply intelligent and profound comments the appreciation and respect to watch this masterpiece until the very end is just an honour. greetings from germany. thx as well for your comments on deutschland. love and hate, we can not show our pride.
I just noticed that the very last part of the ending in the music video (around 15:11) is the same as the beginning of Zeit. I love that continuity. Absolutely beautiful
This video has so many hints and possible ways of interpretation: First of all there are references to earlier songs and videos like "Ich Will" ("heist", haircut, smoking), "Mein Herz Brennt" (grid, cave), "Deutschland" (red beam and coffin in space shown at the official countdown to the premiere) , "Liebe ist für alle da", "Mann gegen Mann" (masses of bodies), and of course: "MUTTER" (cave with grid, Till in cave, "Mutter 22" on the laboratory door). It looks like they are on a crusade (crosses in focus) using a car with "LIFAD 6" as number plate: LIFAD is the official fan community of Rammstein and also the name of their sixth album. They enter the Paris opera house and shoot their way towards the "laboratory". While doing so, they are "dirty", dressed up for the fight. Flake mages to get the door opened with his hacker tool. On the door you find the letters “Mutter 22”. This can have (at least for me) two meanings: Their third album Mutter was released in 2001 and will become 21 years old next year. Even more fitting is another explanation for me: Around the time of “Mutter”, the band had internal conflicts and they were even close to a split. Beside other things there were disputes about the artistic future. So, they open the door “of “Mutter” and behind it there are clones of themselves. And they somehow have a kind of similar looking to the fetus (a 200 year old dead fetus btw.) One could see those “clones” as former beings of them from the “Mutter” area. Beside that the always straight red beam (past and future / red thread) has lost its direction. Like the band wasn’t clear which way to proceed. The current Rammstein change their behavior, become soft, sentimental, … before they burn down the lab and their “Mutter” clones. For me it shows, that they had to break free from the situation they were in, but nevertheless it was their live and their success, … The following scene will introduce the cave to us. From above there are six statues looking / facing downwards into it. Down there are the band members in a cage surrounded by masses of creatures (for me the fans). The band members in the cage are attached to chains, which are pulled by the creatures (fans). The band is stuck in a cage is in hell. The masses are following them, but they are are also “tormenting” the band. The fans themselves are also stuck in hell themselves. Within the cave the band is first in the cage and has metal “helmets” on and the creatures don’t move. Then they get rid of the helmets and the fans start to move. The bands gets more energetic. Finally they get free and rise towards heaven, smiling, but there is still some firing of guns. With them the fans rise up. The next scene is still irritating: The band is on ground level of the opera again, moves towards the cage and they all jump into the cave. Now you see the “band-creatures” standing on top of the cave. They rise their arms and it seems that they are pulling down the giant statues from the top of the cave. Everything crushes down, but the straight red beams rises upwards. They had to crush the hell with the giant statues as “gods” at the top and the band caught in a cage at the bottom to have a straight direction again. While the credits of this incredibly insane production are shown, one can see the dead band members lying on the floor towards the laboratory door. Right in front of the door with still “Mutter-22” on it, we find the dead Flake with his not successful hacker tool trying to unlock the door. Is this an alternative ending? Maybe. Somehow. I get the idea, that there are two time layers woven together. In the past the crushed the hell, escaping the boundaries given by fans, public, media and very probably even themselves. They were successful and the band had a future, represented by the straight upward red beam. But history can repeat. They are always endangered to get trapped again, to be torn apart. And therefore in 2022 there can be a new “Mutter-Crisis” like in the original one. They have to be aware of it and have to fight it every time it happens. When they nowadays find their “clones” behind that door, they know, they have to “burn” them down, but they have now a more differentiated view onto the past and therefore there is also sympathy for and an emotional connection with their “clones”. But if they do not face the danger of getting trapped again (as clones or as caged creatures) there will be no future for Rammstein. Then band “THEN” would die and the red beam would disappear. But if they are aware of it and if they continuously succeed to avoid being trapped again, there IS a future for the band All these ideas written down here are my personal thoughts. They can be one explanation, they can be wrong, they can be one of many interpretations. I still have so many question marks myself. But also some ideas, that might be not totally wrong.
Love how you just nonchalantly spout profound insights. Your comprehension and takeaways are really incredible. I mean.. seriously. I could see you writing a book (about what, I'm not sure) but it would be highly regarded I'm sure ha.
The piano melody at the end is from the song Zeit which you also should on your watch list. Deutschland is also one of the songs that are highly recommended.
Just in case you wonder, the building is Paris Opera House, dating from the second half of the 19th century and it is definitly a very impresive building !
I think one of the best things about metal is the fact of all the instrumentals going on gives you an understanding of what's going on without any of the lyrics.
There are the music, with their instruments, melodies, arrangements and mixing and there are the lryrics with their message, playing with words end emptions. Rammstein try to add one more dimension to musicial art. The use the film to ad another deepness to music and create something new, something special. Love it.
Since you are a Rap Fan, here is a fun fact: The Director of this video (and also the "Deutschland" Video of Rammstein) is Specter. Specter is a founding member of the former german HipHop label "Aggro Berlin". Aggro Berlin put german Gangster Rap on the map and was by far the most successful rap label from 2000-2010. They had a lot of controversial artists and Specter was the mastermind behind their Marketing and how almost all their artists build their image. He did shoot almost all of Aggro Berlins Music videos! He is deeply rooted in Hiphop to this day but after Aggro Berlin was closed, he followed his passion for directing videos.
If ur going to do rammstein, u need to do the live shows. And not for a breakdown but for the amazing shows they put on. Du hast live in paris and engel live at madison square gardens are good ones to start off with
This song is so haunting and dark but tragically beautiful at the same time. 🖤 I was a bit concerned at first too because it does sound like the band saying goodbye, but then I thought that if that were the case then they would've probably used "Ihr" instead of "Du", the way they did with "Ich Will".
I like your analyzis. I have listened Rammstein for 20+ years and they aged like a fine wine. I do feel this is a goodbye song as a retirement song. And what a classy way to do it. Goodbye in different languages because their fanbase was international. And we all will have those great memories throughout the years. What an amazing band. 🥰
What's funny is you say YOU are going off on a tangent. Rammstein IS a fuckin tangent lmao love this band ever since I first heard Du Hast all those years ago. P.s. isn't the song the kids sing in the sound of music have that "Adieu, Goodbye , Auf Wiedersehen" as a part of it?
Hey man, if you can look into the Hu. They are Mongolian metal. They have done a version of master of puppets by Metallica, but I would suggest wolf totem
the ending of this video right away reminded me of the movie immortals, titans imprisoned in the mountain and theseus and the gods fighting in the clouds after zeus collapsed the mountain.
You know The Sixtine Chapel (Y) In 1991 I was at my first concert ever; Gangstar at a small private venue, 150 people. I was into hip hop from 1980 to 1997. When it went pop, I was lost for a few years before I found Rammstein and other metal- but most Rammstein. And in 2015 I saw them in concert, it was cool, but indoors and only 40000 people. Last summer, with 85000 others at Ullevi Stadion in Göteborg, I saw the insane 2022 show. I have onle ever attended concerts with two bands; Gangstar and Rammstein. I got to say that though Guru and Premier were cool cats, there is nothing like Rammstein.
I will just mention that the French "Adieu" means literally somewhat as like "(go) to God" expressing a final departure for not expecting to see each other again and so does the English "Good bye" literally as well BUT the German "Auf Wiedersehen" doesn´t express that at all but the total opposite, it means literally "looking forward to see you again"...I just thought it is interesting to mention.
Adieu = farewell - to wish someone a fruitful journey. goodbye - to wish someone well upon a parting of the ways. Auf Wiedersehen - Until we meet again Fans of Rammstein will recognize that the heist the band is dressed in their Ich Will personas. This song is very much about "killing" their old selves and moving on to a new chapter in the band and their lives. I think that is why they put Auf Wiedersehen last. "until we meet again"
Even I am offended by your French pronunciation, and I am German. :P Just kidding, Knox. Love these dives into metal. Your insights are as brilliant as always, and there is so much good music out there in various genres.
I think "Adieu! Goodbye. Auf Wiedersehen." Might also be a winking reference to "The Sound of Music" tune "So long, Farewell". Instead of cute little kiddos singing "So long. Farewell. Auf Wiedersehen. Goodbye!", we get Till!
The most common interpretation is that the band kills its past ("Mutter" and before), frees itself from the musical chains from their older times. They don't want to be clones doomed to repeat themselves - one needs to evolve to grow. The outro shows what happen if you don't succeed ... (btw the outro is a remix of "Zeit")
Can't recommend enough 2 songs that will fit equally as well on this for metal mondays: 1: Denzel Curry - Bulls on parade ( rage against the machine cover) 2: Parkway Drive - Wishing Wells Absolutely LOVING this new series on your channel Knox, killing it as always!
Another great reaction! This song is a goodbye. Yeah, but you have to know the early songs of Rammstein. In german we say "Mutter-Ära". You see the word "Mutter-22" on the safedoor. Than you have many details from other Rammstein songs in the video. Many, many details. The street at the beginning, look Rammstein - Rammstein (official video) the beginning. The cage, first, in the video from "Mutter" Till is in a cage, second, in "Mein Herz Brennt" there is another cage. The bodys of the band in the cage, look at their song "Sonne". At the beginning from Adieu, you see Flake eats sites from the bibel of the song "Rosenrot". So many details in the long videos. The end, in german we say "Was wäre wenn?" / "What happened if?". Maybe you see the video in another light. ;-) The album "Zeit" is different to the old albums "Sehnsucht", "Mutter" or "Reise, Reise". The meaning i think, they want to be free from the "Alter-Ego". Away from the "Mutter-Ära". The outro shows what happend, when they don't make it. The setting is the national Opera of paris. in the history of the opera the first time that this happend. A videoshoot of a band. The band and especially Till and Richard lost many friends to covid. In the outro you see at 7:32 min. (Covid Nurses) its a little detail. At the end, its not the end of the band, its the end of an Ära and the beginning of a new and exciting Ära.
Knox please do Songer sunrise session @Blackbox, I think you will love the bars and I know I would love to see you break them down. Whenever I hear your music it always makes me think of Songer. Now a colab would be even better than a reaction but I will definitely settle for the reaction. Hope you have a great 2023
"Adieu, Goodbye, auf Wiedersehen. Den letzten Weg musst du alleine gehen" is a verse from an older song if I remember correctly. Not from Rammstein but someone else (not sure who though) Rammstein often mixes languages like in "Ausländer" (foreigner) or "te quiero puta" (I don't think I need to translate that one xD) and others.
btw. Specter Berlin (Who directed the Video) is/was also into German Rap. (Promoted Rappers or do the Videos too for example Sido) Maybe thats a thing you could do :D We have so much good old german hiphop :)
You really need to watch some Rammstein live. Their videos are crazy..... but the live shows..... unforgettable. Du Hast Paris, Benzine, Mein Tiel, Engle
First of all, the song is a tribute to death and dying. In the video many small clues are hidden, for example on the license plate of the car or on the door to the room where the clones are located. You have to look closely otherwise you can't see it. As can be seen in the credits of the video ( this also contributes to the understanding of the video ) all band members are dead in the anteroom of the Paris Opera. Obviously they didn't manage to storm the room of the clones. This leaves a lot of room for an interpretation of what happened in between.

Yes!!!!! Sabaton kicks some serious ass. Christmas Truce would be a good one to do on the last Monday before Christmas
A little etymological fun:
Adieu from à dieu vous commant = To God I commend you.
Goodbye = God be with you
auf Wiedersehen = Until we meet again
That's just them. When they were in Minneapolis for the arena tour, after the show, they literally had the entire production credits scrolling up. Once upon a time, I was a theater tech running spots. We are effectively part of the scenery. When we get acknowledged we feel a little weird about it, because it's never expected. I'll tell you, I saw that and got a little bit emotional about it, that they would do something like that. It just shows how aware, and how appreciated the group is for everyone's work.
Knox you’re so intelligent, I love your intellect when you’re reacting to/breaking down songs. Top notch! 👍
Smiling widely. You are the first one who really understood the metaphoric message. Greetings from Germany
The outro is the intro for the first song of the album, Zeit. We've come full circle.
The piano at the end is from the song Zeit..That should definitely be your next Monday metal song
"Adieu" is also in Germany a common phrase to say "good bye". It is mostly used in the Rhineland for example in and around Cologne.
Great reaction. 👍
I've read that Rammstein was asked whether this is a goodbye of the band and they answered that this is not their intention and they don't have plans to end up with their music.
If you want to see their (incredible) live performances I would suggest (in this sequence)
Rammlied (live from Madison Square Garden)
Du hast (live from Paris)
Engel (live from Madison Square Garden)
Sonne (live at Rock im Park 2017)
Links 2 3 4 (live from Madison Square Garden)
Ich will (live from Hurricane Festival 2016)
Ich tu dir weh (live from Madison Square Garden) (don't take the lyrics too serious)
Amazing official videos
Sonne (Sun) heavy, screwed up fairy-tale
Links 2 3 4 (left) partly heavy march
Ich will (I want) heavy, simple, way to celebrity
Spring! (Jump!) (fan-made animated version with english subtitles) slow, partly heavy, very dark sarcasm!
Radio (Radio) catchy song (with serious background)
Keine Lust (not in the mood) heavy, funny, slidely sad
Newest official videos from their last album "Zeit" in sequence of the tracks on the album:
Zeit (Time) slow, dark, melancholic, emotional
Zick Zack (Snip Snap) catchy song, sarcastic, funny
Angst (Fear) very Rammstein, scary, credits at the end are helpful to understand the message
Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) heavy (most of the time), catchy, funny, credits are funny too (my view)
I wish you to enjoy your Rammstein journey.
So glad you returned to Rammstein. Keep this metal monday thing going bro, and try out some Nightwish, Weak Fantasy (live from Tampere). You'll be breaking that down forever and a day lol
@KnoxHill_ Nightwish is FANTASTIC!!!
I was there to, it was awesome 🤘❤️
... and react to "Deutschland", "Radio", "Ich will" and Ausländer".
It's actually awesome that the create some job opportunities specially with their huge shows for many people.
I was there in Montreal as well.......only one word can describe that show.......EPIC!!!!
Just realized, I want this to be played in my funeral. As I'm being taken away for cremation.
You are not the only one. It will be my last song when being cremated. My dad, also a Rammstein fan, died almost 2 years ago and I chose Ohne Dich as last song. If this song would have been out, that would easily have been my choice.
If you haven't already checked it out "ich will" is a badass song.
You should check out "Mein Herz Brennt" official piano version by them, it's amazing.
Theyve had a huge impact on me with thier lyrics and their poetry and art)
The whole experience of the concert was just so emoionally overwhelming. FINALLY beeing able to see hem live! And then that song at the end. God i cried so much, but out of pure joy and euphoria mixed with sadness. It was really something ive never experienced like this bevor, at no other concert or festival ive been to so far (this beeing the first live performance i saw after three years of also made it so much more impactfull)
They are truly someone who can touch ones soul deeply.
Sorry for the rambly comment. I love your reactions, even if i found you only by chance a few days ago. But man, the way you analyse and feel the songs you listen to, and give us a view of what it means to you is just amazing! Keep it up, ill come back to see more of your great content!
Specially metal-mondays ;)
Also, if you feel like some more Rammstein, i really love their video for "Ich will" (a video they also really enjoy) and their twist on their own song "Haifisch" ,basicly turning the whole meaning upsidedown with the video as an ironical, dark twist.
Id love to see you react to more Rammstein, or other metal f ya feel like it :)
Greetings and much love from Germany
The last melody with the credits is the instrumental version of their song Zeit, a very good and moving song. I still can't stop listening to it, it touches a very sensitive part of my mind or soul, idk. Really recommend.
Again great and thoughtful reaction. Rammstein members are in the late 50‘s, and I guess they‘re about to leave a legacy and say goodbye to what they‘ve (amazingly) been for decades. If you like check Mein Herz brennt, the Piano Version, it‘s a masterpiece in the tradition of the great Bertolt Brecht.
My favorite video from them is still "Rosenrot".
If you do want a recent Rammstein song that it a little more on the fun side check out "Dicke Titten". The auto generated English subs on the official work great.
I’m so glad you ended up taking a look at this. I had a theory, but you pretty much put my thoughts into words already. 😅
Love the international/metal arc. There is a lot of impressive art to be reacted to. And there are no people I’d prefer but you.
You should see them perform live🔥🔥🔥
Rammstein have so many incredible songs, especially if you want to break down the lyrics too.
They also have brilliant live performances, so for the songs that don't have a music video, definitely look at the live performances, they are stunning
Zeit, Mein Herz Brennt are some great choices to break down, but most of their newest album has all-around great lyrics
Till Lindemann also has a side project for songs that are too "extreme" for Rammstein (imagine that lol), you can find those under the band name Lindemann, and they are some of Till's most haunting, beautiful, and artistic lyrics
Metal Mondays are the best Mondays. Your analysis is so engaging and interesting! Beautiful breakdown.
This video/song is all kinds of layered and there’s little Easter eggs peppered in here and there for the fans but I think for the most part you nailed it!
If you end up doing any other Rammstein I gotta recommend:
Zeit
Mein Herz Brennt (piano version)
Both are incredible.
Keep up the awesome work!
Cheers
along with your deeply intelligent and profound comments the appreciation and respect to watch this masterpiece until the very end is just an honour. greetings from germany. thx as well for your comments on deutschland. love and hate, we can not show our pride.
Knox you're an amazing artist, a great interpreter hodge Rammstein said they're retiring.
I just noticed that the very last part of the ending in the music video (around 15:11) is the same as the beginning of Zeit. I love that continuity. Absolutely beautiful
This video has so many hints and possible ways of interpretation:
First of all there are references to earlier songs and videos like "Ich Will" ("heist", haircut, smoking), "Mein Herz Brennt" (grid, cave), "Deutschland" (red beam and coffin in space shown at the official countdown to the premiere) , "Liebe ist für alle da", "Mann gegen Mann" (masses of bodies), and of course: "MUTTER" (cave with grid, Till in cave, "Mutter 22" on the laboratory door).
Even more fitting is another explanation for me:
Around the time of “Mutter”, the band had internal conflicts and they were even close to a split. For me it shows, that they had to break free from the situation they were in, but nevertheless it was their live and their success, …
The following scene will introduce the cave to us.
But if they are aware of it and if they continuously succeed to avoid being trapped again, there IS a future for the band
All these ideas written down here are my personal thoughts. They can be one explanation, they can be wrong, they can be one of many interpretations. I still have so many question marks myself. But also some ideas, that might be not totally wrong.
In some regions in Germany you actually say „Adieu“.
The German farewell formula "Tschüss" has its origin in the French Adieu.
He has done Deutschland

Just in case you wonder, the building is Paris Opera House, dating from the second half of the 19th century and it is definitly a very impresive building !
you need to react to one of their live shows. Nothing is more amazing. Du Hast in Paris. Engel at Madison Square Garden. Many others.
I think one of the best things about metal is the fact of all the instrumentals going on gives you an understanding of what's going on without any of the lyrics.
The instroducing score and imagery is taken from both the movies 300 and Immortals... It`s such a great mix!
The scene with them floating is a representation of the gods versus the titans
Saw them in September in Texas. It was hands down one of the best experiences of my life. This was their ending song.
I've never heard anything more poetic than "German metal butterfly"!😄😍
Du hast live in paris and engel live at madison square gardens are good ones to start off with
Motionless in White - masterpiece, masterful metal lyricism!!!🔥🔥
This song is so haunting and dark but tragically beautiful at the same time. 🖤 I was a bit concerned at first too because it does sound like the band saying goodbye, but then I thought that if that were the case then they would've probably used "Ihr" instead of "Du", the way they did with "Ich Will".
Choir and shooting warm your soul….I fucking love that. Bammmmmm
I absolutely love just how insightful you are when listening to basically any song. You're awesome!
and again a super nice reaction video. Again - you are very educated and its fun to watch your reactions. greetz from Germania
I love Rammstein & Knox Hill, much love from Slovenia
Rammstein is especially awesome
We want something to listen too, The Rasmus "In the Shadows"
I think that some of the later songs like this one represent them coming to terms that they won't live forever and play forever.
Yo knox ty for being goat of youtube breakdowns, youd be suprised how much bigger youtubers copy your every word.
Hey man, if you can look into the Hu. They are Mongolian metal. They have done a version of master of puppets by Metallica, but I would suggest wolf totem
Wolf totem is such an amazing song
the ending of this video right away reminded me of the movie immortals, titans imprisoned in the mountain and theseus and the gods fighting in the clouds after zeus collapsed the mountain.
You know The Sixtine Chapel (Y)
In 1991 I was at my first concert ever; Gangstar at a small private venue, 150 people.
I would love to see you react to Rammstein's Zeit!
Great reaction as always Knox! Was wondering where you got that hoodie, looks awesome!
You can get it direct from me! Check out www.knoxhillmusic.com
Adieu = farewell - to wish someone a fruitful journey.
goodbye - to wish someone well upon a parting of the ways.
Auf Wiedersehen - Until we meet again
Fans of Rammstein will recognize that the heist the band is dressed in their Ich Will personas.
This song is very much about "killing" their old selves and moving on to a new chapter in the band and their lives. I think that is why they put Auf Wiedersehen last. "until we meet again"
Glad I got to see them in LA '22 coliseum.
When you said pits of hell..that scene is actually from a movie..I believe it's called "immortals"
The boys from Rammstein ‐ heaven doesn't want them and hell can't hold them!
Even I am offended by your French pronunciation, and I am German. :P
Just kidding, Knox. Love these dives into metal. Your insights are as brilliant as always, and there is so much good music out there in various genres.
yo, i know you like to analyse lyrics and the music itself, but with Rammstein, the live performances are a must watch too.
Loving the metal monday's!
Can't recommend enough 2 songs that will fit equally as well on this for metal mondays:
1: Denzel Curry - Bulls on parade ( rage against the machine cover)
2: Parkway Drive - Wishing Wells
Absolutely LOVING this new series on your channel Knox, killing it as always!
Wishing Wells lyrically is just awesome
@@egevadi oath 👌🔥🔥
I would totally watch one of their movies if they ever made any.
Thats more than music!!! Thats a masterpice .....
I love the easter egg in this video... Mutter, which is their third album.
you need to react to Rammstein - Zeit. Greetings from Germany :)
Can't wait to see your reaction to Angst & Zeit!
3 days to shoot this video in Paris and the first time the museum allowed pyrotechnics and smoke use inside. Not goodbye, just new horizons.
theres alot of going on, all clips are combined with earlier songs what they have made, its book of stories of them to read :)
Knox please do Songer sunrise session @Blackbox, I think you will love the bars and I know I would love to see you break them down. Whenever I hear your music it always makes me think of Songer. Now a colab would be even better than a reaction but I will definitely settle for the reaction.
Hope you have a great 2023
Knox Hill, You are Rammstein certified!
"Adieu, Goodbye, auf Wiedersehen. Den letzten Weg musst du alleine gehen" is a verse from an older song if I remember correctly. Not from Rammstein but someone else (not sure who though)
Rammstein often mixes languages like in "Ausländer" (foreigner) or "te quiero puta" (I don't think I need to translate that one xD) and others.
Man I wish you would do Pantera-im broken or 5 minutes alone
Clutch- Regulators
Corrosion of Conformity- Albatross
Would love to see what you think about Nic Nxc's Industry. Metal vocals with the rap influence in the beat and flows.
btw. Specter Berlin (Who directed the Video) is/was also into German Rap. (Promoted Rappers or do the Videos too for example Sido) Maybe thats a thing you could do :D We have so much good old german hiphop :)
Amerika, du hast, zic zack, angst, and ich will are some of their greatest songs in my opinion.
You really need to watch some Rammstein live. Their videos are crazy..... but the live shows..... unforgettable. Du Hast Paris, Benzine, Mein Tiel, Engle
Love when you do rammstein! Theres so much to yet discover for you and I'd love if you make us a part of it.
