I watched a documentary about Roy. It was so sad to see when he finally got recognition it already didn't matter anymore for him. Rest in Peace Roy. 1 of the Goats.❤
when Jeff Beck dedicated one of his best pieces to Roy in the 70's -- it was a sign that Roy had a brilliance that only the best could even hope to approach. Roy once said to a fan who yelled up at him: 'you're #1' -- "there is no such thing as #1" ... I think what that really means, when you get down to it, is this: you can't measure the immeasurable. There should be a shrine somewhere of a statue of Roy and a guitar somewhere -- with pieces like this playing. thanks SnakeSSSStretcher!
A music reviewer once stated about Roy, "His fingers looked like spiders dancing on a hot plate." Never truer than here. The best electric rock/blues guitarist.
I'm realy frustrated that still so many people do not have a clue who Roy was, and his greatness. I, myself only learned of Roy about 2 yeras ago. Maybe because i'm in the UK. But I felt I knew all or most of the great guitar artists. Then Roy poped up & I was completly blown away....there are other great blues players like Peter Green, but none move my soul like Roy. R.I.P. Thanks for giving your heart and soul on the crying Telecaster.
Have and always will like this tune...any way Roy wants to play it...with or without the spoken intro. This is Roy's masterpiece. It's fantastic when you can see his fingers working the strings. Thanks Snake. (Is it the fuzzy video that gets it only 124 likes out of 28K views and the 1 thumb down?)
For all of the speculation about Roy's death (which wounded me beyond words) I'd suggest you read Phil Carson's excellent Bio on Roy-- there was a similar incident with Roy several years earlier when he lived in Lovettsville (attempted self-hanging after being incarcerated for Drunk in Public). In both cases, btw, is was a shirt, not a belt.
@MrMattoutkast How can someone hang themself in a cell by a belt.? Ever being arrested, even for a small offence.? They take your belt and shoes/laces. Nothing to hang your self with. Roy's death will be for ever a mystery. To me, it seems very suspicious to say the least. What a tragic end to one of the greatest guitarist's who ever lived.
Moore relies much more on effects and distortion driven sustain. It is excellent version,, but vastly different from Roy. Roy's is more gut driven and raw.
@@goldismoney5899what do you think roy is using here? he’s using effects, you can hear the delay. Its like you dont know what you’re talking about, here’s roy with active pickups, a solid state amp (with a distortion channel) and a delay pedal and you’re shitting on gary
Gary has the benefit of top equipment engineers, dynamic range, transient punch, a clean, sharp, baseline and properly balanced mix. Not to mention that he’s completely off the chain. This guy right here is the real deal. They each have their own interpretation.

Apparently Roy was bruised from head to toe but no bruises around his neck. Dead people don't bruise
I know the drum is too prominent, but it makes it sound ver "Live"
How did anyone dare talk in the crowd?
@oldindian heh....sorry thats paid attention not pain attention although that must have been the emotion R
oy had.
The Garry Moore version is much better
Not lol.
