Thanks again for joining us for this playthrough, everybody. We'll be taking a small break from recording, so expect Final Fantasy VIII to begin in the middle of January of 2014. I hope everyone enjoys their holiday (if applicable), and thanks once again for watching. - Johnny
Thank you guys for all the amazing LP's this year. Your daily videos get me more excited than an show on T.V. Looking forward to more hi-jink LP's in 2014. Final Fantasy VIII should be fun considering I love PS1 Final Fantasys
"Recover is stripped from in game legends for future games." And then a year later, game freak noticed this and gave Primal Groudon rest and Primal Kyogre aqua ring.
I remember the Manga version, Mewtwo was made with a combination Mew's genes and Blaine's when they didn't have enough DNA from Mew, hence why it's more humanoid that Mew.
So exited for the Gen 2 LP. I really think a nuzlocke would be amazing. It would be hell for Johnny, but Matt and Elliot would have a goddamn field day.
2:05 Grinding the Elite Four gives good experience, but they record your team into the Hall of Fame every time. And they don't overwrite it, meaning if you ever check the Hall of Fame, you'll see your team repeated over and over again. Good let's play. Easily the best Pokemon Gen1 LP that I've ever seen. Looking forward to Pokemon Crystal. I've never played through the post-game content, so especially that. Also looking forward to FF8. I actually really enjoy the story of the game. It's the junction system that stops me from really liking the game.
I decided to watch Origins right after I finished this video last night. This just reminded me that it was on my "to do" list. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, guys!
Man, I remember the first time I caught Mewtwo legit. Of course, seeing as I had used it to catch an Articuno to trade to my younger brother, I had little choice but to do it the legitimate way. The only particular pokemon on my team that stood out was my Executter, probably because that's what I used to put that damn mutant cat to sleep. But you can imagine how excited I was to finally catch the damn thing.
You know, since its the 20 Year Anniversary of Pokemon I think this would be the perfect time for you guys to let's play Pokemon Crystal after Kingdom Hearts II of course. It could be the replacement for weekday/weekend RPGs. :)
I was surprised shitless when I found a Lickitung in Cerulean Cave (I refuse to call it the Unknown Dungeon). Up until that point, I thought the only way to get that thing was through a trade
I never used the Master Ball until I learned about the cloning glitch in Emerald, then I caught everything with it. But back in Gen 1, I was just like "catches anything without fail? What's the fun in that?"
Final Fantasy VIII? Nice! I have the full OST to that on my other channel for those who can't wait for SGB to post the LP. In the meantime, I'll keep myself busy recording stuff.
Actually I think Arceus is still the strongest Pokemon due to its incredible versatility. Although Mega Mewtwo actually surpassed Arceus' base stat total so maybe he is stronger.
When it comes to a third party Team Rocket probably changed some stuff around to make Mewtwo better then Mew, but in the manga Blane used his DNA to stabilize it if that helps.
Actually, I think the Japanese Blue that was released shortly after Red and Green changed the original design of the Cerulean Cave and then the American release used the basis of Japanese Blue for Red and Blue.
It's probably a little late for this, but you don't add an -s at the end to pluralize a Pokémon name. They're all words that stay the same for both singular and plural forms. Same goes for the word "Pokémon" itself. That said, have a nice break, you guys. Looking forward to the next RPG!
Watching this reminded me of my own Pokémon Yellow version. I got stuck because I didn't know what I was doing then, and I still wouldn't have any idea what I was doing now. The concept is interesting, but it's complicated. Why can't video games be easy like I remember them?
I usually use the Master Ball when I go after Mewtwo (did the same thing in X) but I commend you guys for actually going "mano a mano" with Mewtwo. I very excited for the Gen 2 LP. It was the last generation of Pokemon I played before coming back with Pokemon X.
I usually catch Mewtwo in the Masterball if it's an option. Not necessarily because of the capture's difficulty (appreciate it), but look at it. The ball is Purple with an M, meant to be saved for the strongest Pokemon you'll ever capture. That thing was DESIGNED for Mewtwo. And for a minor point, I like catching Pokemon in aesthetically matching Pokeballs (like Lure Ball Azumarill or Moon Ball Gengar). And to all the comments that Mewtwo was "piss easy" to catch. It's Capture rate is still the same. The RNG just favored you on that capture.
papershadow69 When people say that Mewtwo was piss easy to catch, they meant that Mewtwo resisted far less than it did in the original Red and Blue. The catch rate might not be the same because if you played Red and Blue and go back to X and Y and compare the two Mewtwo battles, the one in X and Y is far more easier to catch.
It's finally over, twas a good LP, have yourselves some Happy Holidays :D, someone should give Johnny a Master Ball as a christmas present, so it's like "OH that's where it went."
You won't believe this,There is one time in Pokemon Yellow where Mewtwo broke out of the Master Ball....I'm dead freakin serious,I threw the Master Ball at it right at the very beginning
When are you guys going to do Gen 2 i loved this lets play and I really want to see you guys going through Gen 2 especially because it was the Gen you spent the most time with
I fought mewtwo with an ultra ball in Leafgreen, because the master ball was only for the roaming pokemon. not using it in Red and Blue is kinda silly though.
I usually try to catch mew2 without the master ball. The only time I ever had this much of a issue catching him is when I didn't have sleep or a ice move like blizzard.
Well the last time I played red back 2004, I freezed all the legendaries and caught them with no problem with an ultra ball. Funny thing is I got like over 300 masterballs after catching Mewtwo without doing the missing no. glitch.
I've never used a master ball on mewtwo in any version it appears in. It has always gone well for me (especially gen6 battle that was degrading for mewtwo)
Ah, catching legendaries. Back when they used to be a marathon. It feels like they've got a lot easier recently. I might have just had more luck in Y though, but I've been playing Emerald recently, and Rayquaza and the Regi's took so goddamn long to catch. And then I caught Rayquaza in a Dive Ball. I don't know what the random number Gods were smoking there.
lol I remember I spent all my Ultra Balls on Regirock and then caught it with my very last Pokeball. Thank goodness too, because I forgot to save beforehand and would've had to spend another 2 hours looking for a Relicanth. But other than the version mascots that have a higher catch rate, I think all the legendary Pokemon are still as difficult as they were back then, but maybe they feel easier now that they got rid of that "you missed the Pokemon" bullshit. Good riddance too.
I always have fun with legendaries. I save right before I go in. Then I try and knock them out. I then restart and just throw the master ball. It's kind of fun battling the legendaries. None is harder than Mewtwo, though Rayquazza comes close. Also, I think Mewtwo X & Y are the strongest in the game as of Gen 6. And I'd go back to the Gen 3 remakes Leaf Green and Fire Red. Each Gen is fun IMHO and I recommend playing through all of them. Plus good luck if you can find a battery back up for the game boy games at this point in time.
In Pokemon Yellow on my first ever playthrough I caught Mewtwo with a Ultra ball lol. I think I waisted my MasterBall on a Moltres or Zaptos. I dont remember which one but Ik it was one of the legendary birds.
John, you made a slight error in the description of the vid. "Within it awaits powerful Pokémon, but most importantly of all, it holds the most Pokémon in the game. Let's fight the son of a bitch and end this Let's Play." It should be "...the most /powerful/ Pokemon in the game". Love your videos, guys!
I know your pain with mewtwo when I tried cathing it with ultra balls it took me 6 to 8 hours then I realized something at least it is not as bad as the roaming legendries.
***** I know your pain. First time me and my girlfriend encountered Zapdos, we were thinking "Wait, what the hell? It's just fleeing? Do we need a Trapinch or Wobbuffet or something?" I had to browse the internet severely to find out what was going on. Then we knew... Then we had to catch it.... Which I had to do. Torture! And then we played Pokemon X and it was my girl's turn to catch the Legendaries. All 4 of them were EASILY caught this time. We're talking Chuggaaconroy easy
Thanks. Yeah, me and the girl are both major Pokemon fan. Between us, we've played pretty much every Pokemon video game out there, the only real exceptions being the Japanese Red, Blue, and Green, The Trading Card Game for the GBC, and Hey You Pikachu for the N64. We pretty much alternated Legendary responsibilities for X and Y, my girl owning both games. Pokemon Y for me. Yveltal was OK, used the Master Ball on him...... then there was Mewtwo, Zygarde, and Zapdos. Fucking torture for me. Then there was Pokemon X, with my girl catching the Legendaries.... Yeah. Xerneas took 2 Ultra Balls. Mewtwo, caught in 1 Ultra Ball and a Poke Ball. Articuno took the Master Ball, Zygarde caught at FULL HEALTH with a single Poke Ball. I was both thrilled and pissed.
I'm watching this in 2019 and it took this long to do a Pokemon Crystal playthrough that they finished last year. And this one was in 2013 lol bit of a gap in between
I'm glad these games are so easy to get hold off on the eshop. Not bad for £8.99 on Nintendo Eshop. I downloaded Pokemon red completed it but cheated with the missin - o cheat towards end. Downloaded Blue version and gold version for my 3DS XL. And gfor my new nintendo 3DS i have pokemon yellow and crystal version.
John: "I'm feeling different...I want to actually battle Mewtwo."
Mewtwo: WELCOME CHALLENGER! YOU HAVE TRAVERs- wait, are you serious?
Thanks again for joining us for this playthrough, everybody. We'll be taking a small break from recording, so expect Final Fantasy VIII to begin in the middle of January of 2014. I hope everyone enjoys their holiday (if applicable), and thanks once again for watching. - Johnny

-Twitch twitch- Why ff 8 John? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy..................
***** That's already recorded. They just have to upload it.
Oh! No 3D World? :(
SGB what is it about gen 3 you hate so much (mostly Mate)
It's weird re watching this in 2015
Johnny: "There's no reason to come back to gen 1."
Nintendo: "Gen 1 being added to VC for 3DS."
Mewtwo is INSANELY difficult to catch with no master ball due to how broken he is, but thank goodness he doesn't have amnesia
"Recover is stripped from in game legends for future games."
And then a year later, game freak noticed this and gave Primal Groudon rest and Primal Kyogre aqua ring.
I remember the Manga version, Mewtwo was made with a combination Mew's genes and Blaine's when they didn't have enough DNA from Mew, hence why it's more humanoid that Mew.

AND NOTHING
Your Wish came true
He's not blocking the cave! He's protecting the people of Cerulean city from Mewtwo!
Oh man, Mewtwo is doing the pelvic thrust in Yellow. He's Mewtwo and he knows it.
It's been YEARS. Where's Gen 2?
EDIT: Oh, there it is. Neat.
God... Damn, I have never seen Mewtwo caught without the Master Ball. Congrats, Johnny!
The U.N. Owen Dungeon? Ooh, do we get to fight Flandre at the end of such a place?~...
Once John reached Mewtwo:
25:18
You're welcome.
whoever's doing gen 6 try not to kill the legendary on the box when you find him/her.
Mewtwo's catch rate is 3 or 0.4% if an ordinary ball is thrown at it with full health and no status ailments.
2:05 Grinding the Elite Four gives good experience, but they record your team into the Hall of Fame every time. And they don't overwrite it, meaning if you ever check the Hall of Fame, you'll see your team repeated over and over again.

in the future
Johnny: welcome to FF8 part 68

18:25.
I'm fucking dying! XD God damnit Jon
John: Damn it Elliot your fucking screams threw everything and gave him amnesia.
Matt: My special defense went up though.
Me: GENIUS!!!
"Im gonna hold off on Persona 2 a bit longer" Matt, 2013.
Waits 5 years.
The Manga explains it, there wasn't enough DNA for a full clone of Mew so Blane donated some of his cells to help.
Birds, hypnotists, eggs, rats... sounds like Unknown Cave is New York.
I once caught Mewtwo with a pokeball.
do you want a cookie
No I want the 2 hours of my life back.
PikaLink91 Yeah that's one of the few bugs with the game. You're frozen until you're hit with a fire based attack.
Thanks for uploading this on my birthday 12/22
Actually I think Arceus is still the strongest Pokemon due to its incredible versatility. Although Mega Mewtwo actually surpassed Arceus' base stat total so maybe he is stronger.
Mega Arceus, Multiverse monster....
Mega Mewtwo maybe. Unless it's poison or fighting Arceus, Mewtwo is Arceus' bitch.
I don't care what anyone says, Mewtwo is the strongest Pokémon thanks to his new evolutions in X and Y.
Damn right!
When it comes to a third party Team Rocket probably changed some stuff around to make Mewtwo better then Mew, but in the manga Blane used his DNA to stabilize it if that helps.
"I call it Ash."
I fucking lost it.
Three whole years, and they, STILL, haven't followed up with Generation II, yet...
Actually, I think the Japanese Blue that was released shortly after Red and Green changed the original design of the Cerulean Cave and then the American release used the basis of Japanese Blue for Red and Blue.
ELLIOT uses AMNESIA on MATT: It's very AFFECTIVE
Yes there is a sonic reference, the first troll move ever: SUPERSONIC!
Yay!!! Fantastic playthrough. Also very happy bout ff8. My fav final fantasy. Since it is so easy to break.
It's probably a little late for this, but you don't add an -s at the end to pluralize a Pokémon name. They're all words that stay the same for both singular and plural forms. Same goes for the word "Pokémon" itself.

Mewtwo was piss easy to catch in X and Y. Used Nuzzle, probably a Dark Pulse, and an Dusk Ball and that was it.
***** It took me 3 Ultra Balls....She's gotten piss easy. (At least this one.)
***** It varys very rapidly. I used 5 dusk balls on it at 2 health while it was asleep, and the balls wouldnt even wiggle once.
I usually catch Mewtwo in the Masterball if it's an option.
Not necessarily because of the capture's difficulty (appreciate it), but look at it. The ball is Purple with an M, meant to be saved for the strongest Pokemon you'll ever capture. I got my hands on a copy of Yellow for novelty's sake. I never entered the scene of Pokémon until the second half of Gen IV.
When are you guys going to do Gen 2 i loved this lets play and I really want to see you guys going through Gen 2 especially because it was the Gen you spent the most time with
Mewtwo was a Pokemon that was made by humans based off of Mew's genetic makeup.
Can't wait for Generation 2!
Anyone else rewatched this before the Sun & Moon release?
1:20 *sees the paras lass*
All I hear is ProJared from the DarkCry nuzlocke
“LEVEL 31?!?! Oh my god...”
It's been almost a year and a half. Are you ever going to do Pokémon Crystal?
i think gold is the besr out of the 3 i think lol also still has not played this also if they played yellow it would be cool
I fought mewtwo with an ultra ball in Leafgreen, because the master ball was only for the roaming pokemon. not using it in Red and Blue is kinda silly though.
First The Lost Levels and now catching Mewtwo "legit". Johnny, got something to compensate for?
You guys should do Pokemon Colosseum on the Gamecube and go for the 100% Ho-Oh
+RevShadow_508 NO, THAT'S AN AWFUL IDEA
it killed the game for me, just walking around for hours, purifying everything
Mewtwo Just Wants to Live a Quiet Life.
It was a good playthrough, i can't wait for final fantasy 8 :D
I wish you guys a happy holiday!!! :D
I usually try to catch mew2 without the master ball. The only time I ever had this much of a issue catching him is when I didn't have sleep or a ice move like blizzard.
"I call it Ash."
I died.
Arceus in Gen 4 is level 80 and has both Recover and Refresh.
PUFFINS?!!!! I think you mean "Poffins", Elliot...
Don't tell me what to do!!!! *Throws love balls at Mewtwo*

I love FF8. So i cant wait for that playthrough
Kyorge has the best one kit KO move in my opinion
23:19 What was that? I couldn't hear you over the sound of Ted dying a little inside.
Raichu used Thuderbolt! It's not very effective... Enemy Pokemon fainted anyway!
im still waiting for Pokémon Gen 2
in Gen 6, caught Mewtwo in a Pokeball~
once tried a base level poke ball only run in gen1, Mewtwo took an ungodly amount of time to catch.
Heeeey! Dugtrio!! You did it!
Fixed. Thank you.
You're very welcome, sir. I was actually kind of surprised you read that.
Hey guys what ever happened to getting back to the left for dead series back in November?
Mewtwo is kinda a incomplete clone, which would explain why he is so different from Mew.
Do we need a Trapinch or Wobbuffet or something?" I was both thrilled and pissed.
That was good to watch. So many Ultra Ball watsed lol
I kno the pain of trying to get that bastard and also never ever throw away the master ball ever again
If Lewis is going to watch FF8, I sincerely hope we get a DRAW!!! reference sommewhere.
Wow. The day I catch a Mewtwo in Pokemon Y, the day this video is uploaded of John catching a Mewtwo in Gen 1. Some timing. :)
PLEASE DON'T DO NUZLOCKE IN GEN 2 JOHNNY!
Generation 2 will not be a Nuzlocke run. I was only considering that for a the eventual Fire Red/Leaf Green LP.
+The Super Gaming Bros. 10 years from now i presume
When do you guys plan on playing Gen 2?
Who else thinks that when these guys finally do Gen 2, they should play a bit of Vietnamese Crystal?
I once used my Ditto against a rock water type(I forgot the name) And after the battle it kept the pokemons moveset and forgot transformed.
i tried catching mewtwo in gen 6 without a masterball. i'll never try that again.
Delphox can learn Grass Knot in Gen 6.
Did Elliot mean to say he was in the mood for poffins, the muffin things from Generation 4, or is he actually hungry for small arctic birds?
I always catch legendaries is.....POKEBALLS. I've went through 99 ultra balls on a legnedary, but only 20 pokeballs.
Actually..... in Gen 1 only the master ball has a 1 in 256 chance of not catching a pokemon, but was changed from gen 2 and after.
You'd have better luck with an orange covered in Vaseline
uh question does imposter reset when ditto switches out?
I'm in the mood for puffins...lolz
johhny, I didn't throw my masterball at mewtwo and caught it in X and Y... TWICE! (Had both x and y)
In a Pokemon Version of Sonic Adventure 2, Mewtwo would be Shadow and Ditto would be the Biolizard.
And I have no clue what Mew would be...
Mew is Black Doom
***** Oh good. I was starting to have nightmares about that.
I'm watching this in 2019 and it took this long to do a Pokemon Crystal playthrough that they finished last year. And this one was in 2013 lol bit of a gap in between
It took me literally 8 FUCKING HOURS to catch Mewtwo with Ultra balls, when I did it.
Being the idiot that I am, I used my Master ball on a Snorlax...
Also, free Shiny Metang with ORAS. Hehe~...
