The last release of the Grand Seiko GMT Seasons Collection provoked extreme jealousy all around the world. The reason for this is that it was only available in the USA, which seemed dreadfully unfair for the rest of us. Thankfully, the collection is now back and this time it's available for all.
Despite the prodigious creative output of Grand Seiko - that seems greater than practically any other manufacturer - they still manage to surprise us. This speaks volumes of the sheer imagination within the Grand Seiko design studios.

Every watch collector has their own criteria collecting watches. As a long time collector, one of my biggest criteria is the dial. I have a collection of enamel dial seiko watches. Thay are absolutely stunning. I have purchased watches from brands I probably would not have such as the sinn104 green dial with its glitter complexion and looking to add a Sartory Billard sb04. I personally love the skyflake dial from grand seiko. Thank you for this video. Enjoyed it very much
They are all perfect. Some years ago, once I saw the GRAND SEIKO SBGM221, I tried to suggest to SEIKO that the (SBGM221) particular watch should be considered to be in a SPRING DRIVE version, because it really deserved such a calm movement inside such a perfect dial… but I mentioned that they shouldn’t put any POWER RESERVE indicator.
And here they are, putting such an indicator in the spring drive movement watches…
… it is such a pity…!!!
The video editor got the reference numbers are incorrectly. The fall and winter are SBGE not SBGJ (E is used for spring drive GMT, J is for high beat GMT). The voice over didn’t make this mistake.
Personally I think nothing beats the SBGH267 'Whirlpool' dial.

The SBGE269 looks like the SBGE249 silver blizzard limited edition (except for the 3 blue hands and screw down crown on the latter). The SBGJ249 is very spectacular. How do they get to 10 Bar of water resistance with push down crowns?
Good question that - this is why I went with the Snowflake over the Skyflake, I wanted the security of the screw down crown.
Such low water resistance is a huge let down IMO.

Go for the Snowflake - screw down crown, 100m and also a beautiful and subtle dial.
Who actually goes 100m below water?? And if you do…you are not wearing any watch. But scuba gear with timers
The ones with the spring drive in this video have 100m water resistance which should be enough for daily use.

I genuinely think some of these are overrated, i really like the blue high beat though. The rest are just plain, the green looks like a simple glossy green. The dials arent that special.
The green dial is indeed textured. This video just doesn't properly show it. There are plenty of pictures online.
Can they make more spring drives without the power meter at the dial? 🥲
