  • Jaunsari folk dancers perform to a tune played by blind flute player Sarju Verma. The culture of Jaunsar Bawar resembles more closely with Himachal than the rest of Uttarakhand.
For a one day fair, Shaheed Kesari Chand Mela attracts a lot of people, and when one takes into account the fact that it is held on a hilltop ground, then it assumes all the more importance as around five to ten thousand people visit it. Held every year on 3rd May in memory of Martyr Kesari Chand of the Azad Hind Fauj, the fair sees temporary shops come up, selling everything from noodles, to sweets, ice-creams, clothes and even toys. One also gets to see folk songs and dances of the Jaunsar Bawar region.
