You don't need an adapter, and you don't need to use the cable provided. All you need is a proper USB-C to USB-C 5Gbps cable of less than 5 feet to connect up to your Mac... (Canon has indicated that in faq/support section - remember reading it somewhere). I replaced the cable with a quality cable and it works like a charm.
where did you find a usb c with that transfer rate? everything I see is just usb2 rates - and anything with usb3 speeds of 5gbps seems to have a USB 3.0 to usb-c connections - nothin I can find usb c to usb c for that rate
Thank you for this useful video, thank you for NOT using horrible music and other useless and aggravating tactics to make a quick video into a movie adventure at the box office.
I read that the Epson scanner (that is very similar to these one) can't take the power with an adapter to make the scanner work, so I wonder how this one works? I really want an scanner for art projects but I'm worried it's not going to work in my mac air
Hello, Alessandra, I had the same problem. Last week I bought the Epson scanner equivalent and it wouldn't power up from my macbook or imac connection. I tried every combination of cables and set-up. I even got another scanner sent just in case it was faulty. But same lack of connection happened with the second Epson scanner too. So I bought this Canon one, set it up just now in seconds and it worked instantly. I did use my own usb c to c cable instead of the Canon one and a mac adapter but other people have said it still works that way too. Hope that helps!
@@donnachurchman7267 Hello, My macbook air is running macOs sonoma 14.4.1 operating system. Is this scanner still compatible with this macOS? What is yours?
definitely using an older OS hasn't been system preferences in a while i'm using venturi 13.6.1 doesn't show up as a device the application was the latest version from the canon USA site and Venturi is listed but i keep getting the communication error i've swapped usb ports rebooted reinstalled the canon software but no go probably going to have to send this back not worth spending days trying to find a solution
Thanks for your video, but my scanner still not working after this actions. I don't know why. When I open scan app and pressing Scan button, app just writes that scanning but actually doesn't scan. Also I can't see preview Using Lide 400 on Mac OS 14.5 (Macbook Air)
I followed every step but when I got to the step where is says "Scan" nothing happened. In my old Brother scanner, the image showed up in the left box, but there was nothing. So I tried "Overview" and still a blank. What did I do wrong?
me too, using the canon software IJ scan does not recognise the scanner, nor in Apple menu printers and scanner. I think anything later than MacOS version 10 will not work, unless you use third party software VueScan
My LiDe does not work with my imac running the latest version of Ventura. I am guessing PI is using an older mac OS. Would be great if he tells us what macOS he is using.
@@printerinsider that's interesting you are using v12. Canoscan stopped support after v10, but as your's worked with v12, it must mean there is either a bug in Ventura or something wrong with the latest firmware July 2022 from canon.
@@printerinsider update, after a lot of conversation with Canon service centre, the issue lies with Apple AirPrint on Imac Pro. The LiDe works on my 2021 MBP, but not my 2017 Imac Pro. Both running Ventura. So the issue seems to be model specific.
Not working for me on 2017 MBP running Ventura or iMac running Mojave, so annoying wish I'd seen this video before I bought it, is it worth speaking to Canon or Apple would you say? or just return the scanner @@kitminlee9169
I am using Ventura, m2 mac mini. My scanner just doesn't seem to do anything. It's showing that it's added. Says it's scanning document but nothing happens. Any advice?
I think I had the same problem ... until I moved the switch in the bottom to unlock. (The instructions certainly tried to bring my attention to it, but...)
I want to switch from Windows to Mac, and this video helped me 🙂👍

Hi, thank you for sharing.
Have you been able to use the scanner buttons?

Is the lid detachable for scanning thicker items?
