Hello ! May Allah protect and guide you to his light and happiness in this life and the hereafter, God bless, Ameen. Excuse me for giving a little presentation of Islam, because it is very misunderstood nowadays, especially on those « Antichrist's » times, where media and politics are mixed to distort history and truth. And terrorists (puppets of the Antichrist) who misinterpret verses, out of ignorance and political motivations, and take them out of historical context (just like radical atheists do by the way), don't help either. Thank you very much for your time.
Islam is an arabic word that means the Surrender to the One and Only God, our Creator, Protector, Provider, who gives us life and all that we have, we are safe and sound by his will and grace, we are His and to Him we return, and we have to thank him in this trial life by submitting to him by our free will, or later in the Day of judgment when it's too late to save our own skin. Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them).
Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy.
Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad).
Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning!
Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures.
Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement.
It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them.
(19-22 / Translated by Muhammad Asad)..

So important to see. It's not just "all in your head". The brain when it's experienced trauma of one kind of another manifests physical results.

Also, being exposed to extreme sounds, like shelling (hence the original term shell shock,) can cause physical damage to the inner ear. Hence the obvious physical balance issues in some of the patients shown. Their brain and the nerves that tell the brain how to balance have been physically damaged by loud explosions. The bones and cavities our bodies use to keep us upright are very delicate. So even if there's no obvious physical damage on first observation, there is often internal damage that causes severe side effects. There is no "fixing" this type of damage currently. Hence the "treatment" is mostly helping people get used to their new reality. The human brain is amazing in how you can learn to adjust to your new reality.

When I was first diagnosed professionally with PTSD I was told that my particular variety (war) was caused because the part of the brain that initiates the fight or flight chemical response was so used to being switched on that my brain forgot how to shut it off. Everyone at some point has felt an "adrenaline dump", the thump in your chest when it feels like it skipped a beat, caused by a good scare. That is the fight or flight response. Now imagine that never really shutting off. That is what we live with every day. Thankfully very few of us experience extremes of PTSD like those poor gentlemen in the video did...at least not yet.

PTSD is a really difficult condition. It's most often associated with veterans but it can arise as a result of any traumatic experience. Victims of terrorism, refugees, survivors of sexual assault, abuse, child sexual abuse, natural disasters, gang violence, victims of hate crimes, accidents, homicide, etc can all suffer from PTSD. Triggers can be sudden and random as well. I had a friend who was triggered by stuffed penguins. You'd think it's a silly trigger to have but she experienced childhood sexual abuse at the hands of her father and there was a stuffed penguin in the corner of her bedroom where it would happen. In the United States fireworks are a common and serious trigger for many veterans. Often people, especially veterans, struggle to cope with the symptoms. The USA's VA is honestly piss poor. It abandons many veterans after they return from war with severe trauma. You see very high rates of homelessness among veterans as well as substance use, like alcohol or street drugs. It's a way to try and self medicate. PTSD can vary in severity as well. Some people might be able to keep a stable job and normal life with only occasional flare ups. Others have such severe trauma that they can't even function and do basic tasks cause their mind is still in survival mode. People have a lot of misconceptions and misunderstanding about it so it's always nice to see more people learn.

After he died & I moved I found hidden "spears" he carved from thick twigs.

**warning mental and political triggers** when it came to my grandfather's ptsd I was the only one he would trust and it made his 7 kids (my mom included obv. ) very jealous to the point of cutting our communication off. the last time I saw him he said to say goodnight bc he knew he was about to die. (20 min later) before I left he told me don't trust anyone in power and he actually predicted trump's presidency. He said a man not of power but of influence would come and shake the balance of power. government and civilian. He would be named a mad man and shadowed the rest of his life. You must not become a fool and follow the words spoken child this man is no saint, but he is no demon. follow his actions if you do not the country is over. I said yes Sir and asked if he would like my words of truth as well. he replied yes child. I proceeded to tell him about all of his kids and the actions both verbally and physically they had done through their childhood and adult hood. he called them commies when I was done and disowned them immediately. My husband heard/saw what was happening and requested a will check on the spot. the nurses got video and audio recording to assist with revising it in case he passed before it was finished. He struck everyone from it. that was the saddest moment I have ever had and will never get over the look he had as I was saying it and the tone he had when he spoke. Right before I left He said thank you softly and said he wasted so long going through so much pain for no reason. He was holding on bc of the family and didn't need to anymore. He called for the nurse to escort us out after that and I'm assuming he told the other one that he was done but to wait until I was gone since it was so soon after.

My dad was in the Army in the Vietnam war. Until he died in 2019 in his 70s, the smallest thing could trigger his PTSD. Something making a loud, fast sound could have him scrambling under the table thinking it was a grenade exploding. Fighter jets flying really low and fast over the house and he would throw himself on the ground believing it was an attack. Mom had to turn off the TV when they were showing scenes from Desert Storm fighting because she saw him sitting in the chair shaking. PTSD is something that never goes away. I believe that is one of the main reasons he asked me not to join the military when I was thinking about it after high school.

Mostly I begin to disassociate and often forget where I am. When I don't know where I am, I feel very scared and alone. I worry that I'm in danger. When this happens, it's very hard to communicate. Like the fear and confusion is so strong it prevents me from opening my mouth to call for help. I also sometimes see people I know aren't there. I'm still learning and trying to heal. And there is also C-PTSD which is complex PTSD, what makes it "complex" is that it doesn't come from one event but multiple different types of events. My step dad was drafted into the Vietnam War when he was 17/18 and he didn't fully come to terms with his PTSD until he was in his late 30's/early 40's. He was stabbed, shot, saw some of the worst things imaginable and he had to endure it all because he couldn't go home. When he did get to go home the mother of his eldest son took their kid and ghosted him because she didn't "agree" with the war like he had a *choice* to fight in it. My step dad didn't get to meet him until he was a grown man with a son of his own.
When he married my mom he was in his fifties, my mom in her forties, and I was 7. Growing up, my parents were very upfront with me about his PTSD so I understood every battle scar he had. I understood why he had trouble sleeping through the night or couldn't watch certain war movies. I understood why he cried while talking about his service and losing friends. I understood why we had to be extra careful waking him up because if you did it wrong he might lash out like he's back in the war.
My culture makes it difficult to talk about mental health but from a very young age I knew that my dad wasn't always doing ok. Some days he had bad days and others were good. The best thing you can do for someone with PTSD, in my opinion, is to just let them know that you're there for them no matter what. Sometimes your presence alone can be the most powerful healing moment.

      Salam (Peace) ----------

"PTDS," "Shell Shock," "War Neurosis," etc. by any other name is a phenomenon that has been known since ancient times. Herodotus described a case of what would be today described as trauma induced psychosomatic blindness in a soldier who fought in the battle of marathon in 490 BCE. And, even earlier, ancient Assyrian texts from approximately 3,000 years ago describe former soldiers describing things that would today be attributed to PTDS (ie., seeing the faces of and hearing the voices of people they had seen killed in battle).

She also has ptsd and even though it’s not physical like in some of those videos she struggles with it too. I’ll never understand the pain she has had to go through or the grief of losing friends. My family has accompanied her to visit the graves of her friends on Memorial Day. Even though she’s been through so much she continues to be an amazing sister and mother to her kids. My sister just graduated with her master’s degree in psychology and I’m so beyond proud of her. She is such a strong person just like all the other veterans that have come back from war and continue with daily life. I wish there were more resources for veterans who don’t have a home to come back to or a family. They deserve so much respect for everything that they do to protect us.

There is no way to cure PTSD only manage the triggers we can manage and the help and compassion, if not true understanding, (only someone else with the same experiences can) I received was admirable. The best treatment for PTSD is to acknowledge it and talk about the events that led up to it and the VA offers completely free help to those like me with PTSD.

"The war isn't over until it's over."
The war is *never* over... It's been over 10 years since I went on my first deployment, and there are still nightmares that haunt me. They don't stop... but neither do I. I've lost too many friends who fell in their battles with their own inner demons, and I made a promise to them, and those who didn't come home, to live a life worth living. Because that is what they would have wanted for me.
If you truly are supportive of Veterans, please reach out to your local VA, VFW, American Legion, or any various veteran organization near you, and volunteer some time... To so many Veterans, especially those in their later years, just having someone around to talk to can lift their spirit; someone who is genuinely interested. Because a lot of us don't have very many people around us for support.

The pandemic has really brought a rise in mental health awareness that was long overdue. Lightly joking around saying that you have PTSD, OCD, depression or any other disorder without actually having them and without truly understanding the suffering associated with it is just offensive. Mental disorders are very complex and always entail much more than what is normally talked about. I have a form of PTSD called Developmental PTSD, which means it resulted from constant trauma, even if not severe. I was bullied at school and also experienced issues at home so there was no escape. I also experienced repeated events of sexual harassment for several years. While nothing I experienced would by classified as extremely severe, it was the fact that there was not a break from any moderate level stress that caused the disorder. These were all different events occurring over the course of my childhood. PTSD takes on many forms and not everyone experiences the stereotypical flashbacks. I never had flashbacks. I only ever dissociate and sometimes have memories resurface that my mind repressed to protect me.

    • @Un1234l

Yes. I have PTSD and C-PTSD, which I guess can be considered the adult version of Developmental PTSD.

    • @zaynes5094
      @zaynes5094 Рік тому

@Un1234I Usually the repressed memories aren’t really repressed, they’ve just been temporarily disabled from the mind by the brain. Also, the dissociative part is very real, but not for everyone who has PTSD. Some who have it will simply just recall a lost bad memory of being assaulted or abused, and then they may also feel nauseous and vomiting as well panic attack or higher social anxiety in those moments. Very crafty how the brain works.

I lost two generations of men in my family throughout the first and second world wars (I’m European). My great grandfathers body is somewhere in Flanders, never recovered. He enlisted with his brothers, cousins, friends and workmates - as propaganda encouraged. As a history student, this is something really close to my heart. Worthy of note that there had never been a war like WW1 before and is often known as the great war. For the first time in history, artillery and ammunition was used on a scale that had never been seen before. The noise and terror of the battlefield would have been incomprehensible to us today. There’s a reason the term shell shock was used to describe the condition before PTSD became commonly used. War would ask an impossible price, killing millions of young men (who would die alongside brothers and friends in a fight that wasn’t theirs). Those who came home were so traumatised by the noise and chaos of the battle field, that they couldn’t unlive it. At the time this would have been a sign of emotional weakness and cowardice. Those who would attempt to flee the horrors of the trenches would often wound up shot in attempt to desert (and never given posthumous pardons) and those who made it home were faced with asylums and little sympathy.

Im half-Korean and I have stories from both sides. My late grandfather on my Korean side of the family fought for the Korean Resistance movement against the Japanese and later on, he also fought in the Korean War. He was 17 when he first fought a battle. He would often space out when telling us stories of his experiences. He always told me and my sister how the things that he has seen and experienced would haunt him until his final days. He had a few close calls where he nearly committed suicide rather than being caught by the Japanese and those experiences of fighting in two wars shook him and we can see it. he would often also jump out of bed randomly because he said he thought he heard gunshots. He was a strong man, but it happens to the best of them.
Also, my father always told me about my growing up with my grandfather after he came back from Vietnam. He always said that his father really changed and would sometimes stand up in the middle of their meals to stare outside blankly. My grandfather also told my dad stories of how he saw his close friends die in front of him. War really changes people. Only politicians win wars, not the people that fight them. I want to honor them both as they fought with honor and sacrificed a lot for their countries.

Doesn't help when the military VA blowing off vets saying it all in your head. My dad spent 30 years trying to get the help he needed.
Finally was able to get help after getting our congressman involved. However it's important to realize that shell shock & PTSD.
Can get misdiagnosed & many vers can still suffer from PTSD's effects. PTSD needs to start being talked about more seriously.
Not continually pushed under the carpet and pretend it doesn't exist. Thank you for reacting to this so much!! ✌

I think it's good at the end when she mentioned improving treatment and conditions for soldiers, police and firefighters. I'd add emergency responders to that list, but I think a lot of countries would really benefit from better treatment for those in jobs where trauma can be an everyday occurrence.

In the k-drama it’s okay not to be okay, one if the scenes depicts one of the patients dealing with ptsd from war, it was an amazing scene but also very unfortunate knowing that’s what people deal with.

PTSD is a weird beast. For myself, after 21 years with 57 months total deployed to combat zones, mine manifests as intense paranoia, anger issues, depression, and anxiety.
I’ve had incidents with flashbacks, but they’re mostly contained to sleeping (especially after I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and got my CPAP).
It’s rough because while you can learn to live with it, it’s always there. I literally hate having my back exposed at all in social settings. Like straight on, flip sweat, kind of terror. I also can’t stand being unarmed at any point in time. You just feel exposed, like your whole world is about to implode.
    It’s some wild stuff,

I used to work in a recording studio "in the hood" and one day the door got kicked down and 2 ppl with guns and ski masks busted in and robbed us at gun point. Luckily we were all okay but that moment struck us all with great fear, months later I was watching a movie and there was a scene in which these ppl kicked down a door with guns and as soon as I heard that noise I felt a feeling I've never felt before ,I felt instant panic and my heart felt shocked. That's when I realized I guess I have ptsd from that moment.

Shell Shock was the term in WW1 for when a bomb or mortar landed nearby, detonated, and scrambled your neural and nervous path ways, which is why they moved the way they did.
PTSD is a more umbrella term that covers more than physical trauma. I am glad that they added police and firefighters to the list of people to help. While I was in the army, I was military police and I worked with the fire department. There is some very disturbing things we had to work through together.

However, what I always find interesting is coworkers that talk about the care provided 10, 15, and 20 years ago. Psychiatric care has changed alot in 10 years and from what I hear care, patient to staff ratio, etc was alot better ten years ago. It was more patient focused and less about $$.

No one wins in war. Everyone suffers. Even if you make it back home it follows you. I had two uncles who fought in Vietnam years before my siblings and I were born. They came home and my mom talked about how completely changed they were. Depressed and haunted by it. One of my uncles became an alcoholic and drank himself to death. The other committed suicide within a few years of being home. He was seeing a therapist for the ptsd and he just couldn’t take it anymore. Drank antifreeze and died a few days later. I know family members who have PTSD from other kinds of traumatic events (home burning down, very messy divorce of parents when father was abusive, childhood bullying) and its never the same for any two people.

I was diagnosed with PTSD and severe anxiety in 2018.
The trauma I experienced and the symptoms I have had are difficult enough to deal with and try to overcome. But.... it's people's reactions and how their treatment of me changes when they find out my diagnosis that is the most difficult.
Simply put.... they look at me differently... and they like to push me to share information about what happened. Which makes me start having what people call 'flash backs.' Though that doesn't really describe what it's like.
I get caught up in the memories and can't help but replay it and re experience the emotions again. Which leads to a full blown panic attack.
Treatment is so important, I can't express that enough. Education is as well.

I used to have C-PTSD a couple of years ago due to prolonged trauma from child abuse.
Anything like hearing a baby cry would make my heart race and my brain would feel foggy.
Sometimes my vision even got blurry because of the dissociation.
I would have fits where I would cry so hard I would start hyperventilating and dissociate for hours, and have horrible fatigue afterwards once I got triggered by something.
It's the feeling of constantly spiraling out of control, repeating the same feelings of fear and hopelessness that you felt during those incidents.
I know my mom was also a victim of child abuse and she lost all feeling in her legs at some point, to where she couldn't walk because the trauma was so severe it started to affect her physically in that way.
It's not a mental illness to take lightly but with extensive therapy, love and patience we can start functioning like normal.

when I came back, the world was like walking into your house, only some one had rearranged and changed all the furniture. you recognize that it's your house but nothing is familiar. Life after trauma is like riding your bike into sand. The intensity and momentum you had while in the military carries you off the pavement but soon you start to sink and the more you struggle the deeper you get. It took me years of therapy to realize that I will not ever really recover and finding sustainable methods to be content was the best option. My philosophy is to never give up so I can show my two sons that there is always a way if you refuse to give in.

As someone with civilian PTSD + C-PTSD... the stress is what's causing the swaying and shaking. Life-or-death survival mode always on, the hormones are causing havoc on the body and the brain, leading to the swaying and shaking.
I lived 24/25 years before trauma found me. After that, I noticed my hands shaking more, my legs shaking, being unsteady. When I walk, I no longer recognized the way I walked, and no longer had full control over it. It's been 4 years since, and my gait has recently started to become more like how it used to be... in control.
I used to work out a lot. But post-trauma, I could no longer co-ordinate or feel my body the way I used to. It felt clumsy and the mind-muscle connection just not there.

My dad served in the Vietnam War and had PTSD for the next 50 years until he passed. Growing up, we were told not to ask about what he did over there. We didn't watch any type of war movies and you couldn't touch him while he was asleep to try and wake him, you had to stand farther away and say his name really loud to wake him. He didn't like crowds and had to have his back to the wall at restaurants....it doesn't just affect the soldier but the family as well. I remember Christmas was especially hard for him. I never got the whole story but it was something to do with an incident with a child while he was in Vietnam during Christmas time and I remember him just always being so solemn during that holiday. I remember a handful of times waking up in the night to him in the kitchen with my mother and on the floor crying like a baby...it's hard to see those things and remember it but it's a reality for many families.

I have PTSD it can literally cause any physical symptoms your mind could think off. The trauma stress and anxiety are so bad it effects the brain and nervous system, it can lead to a pretty fast deterioration of physical health and how you see reality around you. Its a terrifying diagnosis can require years of therapy and rehabilitation to even start coping. The word is for sure thrown around too much.

Many veterans didn't really get any treatment, but just "lived with it". My husband's family had a man who was in WW II. He told stories of being in foxholes in Europe. He said he was able to go to the next foxhole by looking at a photo of his wife and child, kissing it, praying, and running forward. When he came home, you had to be careful around him because any loud noise like a door slamming or a glass breaking would trigger his fear and he'd dive under a table or something. I cannot imagine being in a situation to cause such permanent pain and fear. No matter whether you agree with where/when these soldiers are sent to fight, they deserve our thanks and better medical care than I've read that they get.

A veteran told me a story of when he was in tour in parts unknown / classified. They were alerted by a village woman who led them to a demolished village and the inhabitants had been put in a mass grave. Their mission changed to digging up the bodies and trying to present them to possible relatives. But the heat acted like a crockpot. He said sometimes he smells it when he wakes up. That is some suffering.

I used to suffer PTSD (not war, just personal), and after therapy I luckily was PTSD free, and I was able to visit my cousin again in a city I was completely avoiding. He gave me a great job that paid well, which was to take care of this older gentleman. I would take him to go eat, watch him all day, change his colonoscopy bag, and help him go to bed, stuff like that, just keep him company basically. He staid with my cousin, but they weren’t related. He loved to talk about his time in the war, had great stories, but terrible PTSD. I remember one night, I slept over, and he had an episode. He was able to get himself out of bed and had music on as loud as possible to drown out something he was hearing, but it didn’t help, and he was screaming some pilot commands, and breaking things. My cousin usually knows how to calm him down, but it wasn’t working all too well. My experience with PTSD helped me calm him down with the help of my cousin, and I was able to get him back into bed safe and all right.
