This seemed directed at me, but, I don’t know whether to not shrink from staying or leaving.

I have survived some deep trials. But in every one of them I had times of shrinking. Talks like these always make me feel like I never measure up to the standard I’m supposed to be. Sometimes surviving is the best I can do. But I feel like no matter what I do, it’s never enough. Sometimes…most of the time…church culture makes me feel subpar and heavy laden.
But then, Christ says to come to him and he will give us rest. I’m so thankful for the Savior.

These stories are meant to be inspirational and help us try a little harder each time. Not to condemn us. How old are you? This story is of a very old apostle of God, with decades of experience. The goal is growth, not perfection. At least, not in this mortal life. But the habit of growth, even slow incremental growth, is what allows His grace to carry us to eventual perfection. So look at your trajectory. Not your position. Rely on the atonement of Jesus to make hard times, refining times. ❤

Ive actually felt this way myself, not just that what I was doing wasn't enough but that church culture can take a tole. I really think its important for us to use "wisdom in all things" and not "go beyond the mark." And most importantly listening to the Holy Ghost to liken it unto ourselves. Looking back some of the moments where I felt like I wasn't doing enough, barely even surviving, turned out to be days that I was really going above and beyond and what the Lord thought of me was very different than what I thought of myself. I think there is a lot to be said for hanging in there and commend you for doing that.

We will all fall short, that's why we repent and rely on Christ. E. MAxwell probably learned this lesson because he saw himself shrinking in small moments, maybe in big moments, but then he saw the saviors example and tried to do more.
To become disheartened to the point of blaming church culture instead of taking responsibility for our own weakness in this area IS TO SHRINK even further. So, we turn in to the Savior, keep a little humor and lots of humility and allow him to help us find the emotion or path or viewpoint we need.
I have definitely gone through bitter things that left me bitter, but I am practicing taking responsibility for my turning away and pride during that time. I hope in the future I can practice again to learn this lesson. (By the way it is definitely reasonable to become bitter through such bitter things, but the Savior provides away for us to chose something different. It is much harder, but it is much more joyous)
The most important thing is we always turn to CHRIST (this is repentance) when we struggle, fall short. Even if it is messy and embarrassing and we get most of it wrong. As soon as we come to, let's repent and be one with God and have his help and forgiveness in all things.
God bless and strengthen you in all things!

The Mormons are not in a Covenant with the GOD of Israel, that is a lie, Joseph Smith was never taught by a Hebrew Israelite ( Jew) And In ( John 4:22, Romans 3:1:2, Romans 9:1-4) Proves that the Mormon church is nothing but a Man Made religion started in 1830 by a lying white man who has Deceived Millions of People with Nothing but Made up fairytale and lies

We were teaching a student from TCU. John and his friend were cordial agreeing with most of what we were teaching until The third lesson. John was no longer nice and argued with every point. John do you believe that Joseph Smith was a Prophet. No said John Billy Graham is more of a prophet. do you believe that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Absolutely not the Bible is all We need.. do you believe that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is the true Church. No the Baptist Church is closer to the true Church. We are going to close the meeting and John would You please offer the prayer asking Heavenly Father The Three questions. He agreed as we knelt down John asked specifically The Three questions and said Amen. We stood up to shake hands but John stayed kneeling and looking up with tears running down his face said "I know it's all true. I don't know what happened to John but I know we witnessed a miracle. The next week I was transferred.

When this great man passed in 2004, it seemed that the bulk of the spiritual power in the church disappeared with him and never came back... Doesn't make a lot sense with all of the claims made in the church. Just my opinion.

I’m sorry you feel that way. Personally, I see amazing spiritual power in the Twelve and in the First Presidency and among other in many calling within the Church.

There are Faith healers in our world that could of Healed brother Maxwell. You are a prophet of the LDS Church and you do not ask the Father in Faith if this prophet of our church should be healed by a faith healer or not? WHY DO YOU NOT ASK IN FAITH ABOUT A FAITH HEALER TO HEAL BROTHER MAXWELL??? I am not going to have faith if I don't have it first to seek the healing power of the Father first through Faith Healers. I know about 8 of them in the world. If you have illness you go to a Faith Healer to be healed. It is free but only your faith is required to receive a healing. ASK AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN TO YOU BROTHER BY YOUR CHALLENGE OF FAITH TO BE HEALED.

You say this as if the Father wanted all of us to avoid trial and tribulation. We all die it's literally baked into the cake. Also its not the faith healer that heals. It's been a blessing in may ways for me to suffer, 15 years I have suffered a level of pain that is suicide inducing. It's made me stronger and taught me things I never would have learned otherwise. It hasn't been for nothing.

If its his will then the blessing be granted, and they heal but if its NOT his will, then the person has to endure the trial. That is why some people are healed and others are not. That is also why God will not remove all trials and difficulties. If he did then it would destroy the purpose of the plan of salvation.

If that’s the case why don’t the faith healers just walk through the hospitals and raise everyone from their beds? Why are there those among the crowds and congregations that are sick and afflicted? The power of healing is real but hardly can it be called on in any and every case. Even Paul had a physical pain which wasn’t healed.
