I've always got as much as I want, as much as I can eat, by just having a small bit of everything. I've always understood that theoretically I could go back for more, but I've never managed to do it.
I work at a Marstons and we do a carvery every sunday. I have seen it all and can relate to your story. You really pay for the meat on the plate, small is 100grams, regular is 150grams and large is 200grams of meat, and we do four meats. The veg is like the gravy and condements, you can go back up for more veg if you want to, but people do tend to just pile it high, it's just part of the experience. love your videos, very entertaining thanks
We had the us marines on board with us on deployment and they were all walking around with bowls with yorkshire pudding filled with custard was talk of the ship for a couple of days absolute amazing bunch of blokes to work with but was hilarious at the time.
Hiya. Reminds me - Does anybody else remember building up the sides of salad bowls with slices of cucumber, tomato, etc., to get more stuff in, in places like Pizza Hut or similar? I don't do it now, of course, too grown up. No, honestly, I don't! Stay safe. All the best to you.
The Pizza Hut in my area caught on to that and then had shredded iceberg lettuce instead of whole iceberg lettuce leaves. Cucumber and tomato didn't quite have the same buildable area as whole lettuce leaves!!!
My late wife was American, and if she did anything a bit odd, I would explain it by saying, "she's American." That would always be accepted as a valid reason. :D

I found an amazing carvery in Portsmouth - I was in the UK for 6 weeks and by the time I got to Portsmouth I really, really wanted vegies - so I got a little bit of meat and stacked my plate with veg. Just loved it. From memory you could go back as many times as you wanted.
No reason why you could not have two plates. Just as long as you paid for both, and ate everything you had taken. If you left a lot that's pure American gluttony.
American here. I knew where this story was going. Lol. If you get what you described some wait staff will look at you funny. I try to eat small and get the look. We have a type of restaurant where they bring huge pices of various meats to your table and slice of a portion for you. It's showy and excessive. Expensive too. I actually never saw this when I was a little kid in the 60s. The child portion size of root beer at A & W was 3 ounces. The biggest size was 12 ounces. I found the mugs at an antique shop and i measured them.
Every carvery I've been to let you get more veg etc if you want, it's just the meat you can't! How odd. I get beef and turkey, have veg and sauces to suit one of the meats, once that's gone get more veg etc for the 2nd. 2 meals for 1 lol
Next time your in America.." not sure" if your living here, but if you are go to a local Golden Corral..you can go to your hearts content. Im hoping you like it..lots of people though,so be prepared. Oh and check for its most popular hours. Love your laugh..i just recently started watching you. I bet you abd your husband laugh till way after your stomachs are hurting...lol
Lol. I've done the two hands two plates thing but not to the extreme. Be interesting to do this next time...I.e. fill up your plate massively in one hand, in the other hand have a empty clean plate except for one maybe two small items on it.Go up to pay and see if the chap says anything and if he does or doesn't just smiley say that the 2nd plate is for catching what is falling from the first plate !!!! Lol.

In Pizza Hut I used to cantilever celery out from the side of the plate to get more on.
