Shikara: Rs3000 per hour. shocked to hear Rs 300 in this video.
horse to mini Switzerland in Pahalgam : Rs 3000 per horse. board said: Rs 4500 per horse. i reduced it to 3500. did not know they could come down to Rs1500
in Gulmarg: Horse : Rs 2500 per horse. :(
boot rental in chandanwari: rs 300. i did not go for it.
boot rental in Pahalgam : i paid rs100 per boot
boot plus jacket in gulmarg: rs600 per person. very expensive.
boot plus jacket in doodhpathri : rs 450 per person
i would recommend to buy gum boot for all the day you land, and donate it while leaving.

You are 100% right. We need to share your hardwork so that everybody is aware of this. I was also targeted by these people everytime I go to Kashmir. No way to avoid them. These money goes to terrorist fund. Indian Govt is trying best to stop this, but tourists need to be aware. Kashmir is a heaven for terrorists, not for tourists. But these terrorists promote vlogs and common people believe on those false vlogs.
Biggest scam is the mini Switzerland pony ride in pahalgam.. They quote anything upto 5k-6k

Pahalgam biggest scam place hai
I suggest 1. to trek as much as possible , you will enjoy more and save huge money of pony ride 2. For food , make one hamper of fruits , dry fruits , jam and butter etc from home and carry induction. 3. Remember you are going yo enjoiy holiday not yo become ATM for local thugs. So save and enjoy more. People are generally treat you like moneybank.
We went this month. Your video gave us an idea about problem we may face. I thought the trip would be challenging after looking few such videos but it was a decent experience. I will just put my points.
1) Travel agency was nice
2) Accomodation was average - no major issues
3) Places and points are obviously very scenic and absolutely worth going.
4) People at tourist places did want to sell their services but not too much bothersome and would leave if politely refused.
5) We had two Cab drivers and one in Pahalgam from their taxi union - all were genuine and nice. No problem.
6) Overcharging - Depends on negotiation but I felt it was okayish not too bad.
If someone is wanting to visit, go with positive mindset and enjoy the nature and the people. Hope you will have a nice experience
चालीस साल पहले हम गए थे घूमने उस वक्त श्रीनगर Tourist Reception Centre से same day return tour bus चलती थी - और सुबह 8-00 बजे निकल कर शाम को वापस आती थी
ये बसे, अलग अलग रूट पर जैसे कि एक टूर हो गया सोनमर्ग, दूसरा पहलगांव, तीसरा दक्सुम और फिर श्रीनगर मे लोकल बस टूर भी चलते थे
ये आज भी चलते है या नही, ये कोई बता सकता है ?

Such informative messages promote tourism as middle class family can also think of enjoying the heaven on earth. Tour operators should understand that it is a give and take responsibility and positive publicity by tourists about good hotels and travels shall increase their revenue and tourist satisfaction.

Very nice .you have explained the cheating at differt places in Kashmir. My request is don't call it scam but you can call it as cheating. The tips you have given are very nice.
We sr citizen couple faced similar things in @ 50% cases. However must thank the local police and our alertness to report them. They saved us in most of the cases by personnel intervention.
Even so police provided their helpline number which worked at almost all places and they helped us as well.

There is dharmshala /hotel named durganag not exactly on its bank but near dal ..cheap and best near to it u can get veg food too
Srtc office is too at walking distance so can take buses too from their to every place
Bargaining is part of Indian culture nothing new. Go for any kind of shopping in India.....its common. Only thing find in Kashmir was lots of Kashmiri pushing you to buy their products. But then poverty is also one of the cause. I took rs75000 package from Delhi to Kashmir for 8 days trip. That include airfare, taxi,lodging boarding etc. Which was very nice & comfortable. Thanks to one of the local tourist company.

All people saying these are not scams, let me tell you, this is the exact definition of scam. They misguide tourists and try to extract as much money as possible making it a bad experience. That’s why tourists are forced to bargain and waste their time and energy. Please don’t do this with tourists.

I've seen price-rigging at many tourist-destinations, hotel, airport/railway/bus stand.
In most cases I got better price directly negotiating with the service-provider.
Travel to Himachal. Sincere Taxi drivers, Hotel owners, and tourist guides.

लूट तो है, लेकिन हर टूरिस्ट अपने टूर के माइनस अनुभवों को इग्नोर कर देते हैं। गुलमर्ग में घोड़े वालों की मोनोपाली के कारण 10 मेंबर्स के 11000/-देना पड़े।इ रिक्शा से 200से500रूपये में जा सकते हैं लेकिन घोड़े वाले यह होने नहीं देंगे।

Kisi bhi tourist place me jayenge to wahan rate jyada mangte hi hain shimla,manali,nainital,kashmir har jagah hotel hotel chillate log milenge. Decision apka hota hai. Agar apko fixed price chahiye to 3* hotel book kariye. Winterfell Inn dal lake k pas 1100 se 1200 per day h, goibibo se book karlo free cancellation 12hr pehle tak kr sakte ho.
Maggi 10rs wala 100rs ka har touriest place pe milta hai, godhe ka ride 500 se 1000rs har jagah chalta hai. Sharing me aap 2300 me gaye hmne 14000 me 6din airport se airport tak innova se ghume jahan marzi wahan ruke. 1000...1500 bacha k q experience kharab kiya jaye
Aapko sahi deal mil gaya. Hamlogo ne bahut logo se baat Kari just to know their experience and sabka yahi kahna tha ki yaha bahut loot rahe hai. 1 south Indian couple was really messed up by loot and another Bengali couple was also in the same simulation.

Bargening se sb ho jata h. Hamne 1 hour shikara 1000 rupye me kiya. Dal lake pe 2300 rupye me bahut hi badhiya 3 bed wala hotel kiya. Mughal Darbar me khana khaya. Sonmarg me 700 rupye me horse riding kiya.
Fir bhi mehanga hi para. Hamne 700 me 2 hour sikara ride Kiya. Hamara hotel to waise 1000 ka tha Agar aap 3 bed bhi lete to 1500 bahut hai. Only sonmarg me aapka sahi charge Kiya pony ride ka

Good video. At sunmarg pony service should be stopped as motorable road till mini Switzerland is available and cost will be very less. It also appears torture on pony, the way it is used.
