    Sometimes putting ideas down for me sparks a chain reaction of ideas. Especially if I’m physically write them down.

      Me too, it’s like you have to get the process moving first and then that’s it.

    Ok, but looking at your Story Ideas in Notes and thinking "what the hell does that mean?!" when you know you thought it was brilliant when you added the note. So true to life.

    Getting ideas for a story is not a problem for me. Planning them is the real problem, and writing is even worse

    Man thank you for making this video, I've been really stuck with starting my story and this helped a lot. I appreciate the effort you put into this video and I don't mean any offense by this but for only having about 18k subscribers you've got really good editing and production.

      Glad it was helpful! Don't worry, no offense taken! I'm still trying to figure out that missing piece that might mean UA-cam will push my videos a bit more...

    This is so cool, and may be one of the missing pieces I’ve needed. Just found your channel, and it’s been a treasure trove for me, and has inspired me to write again. Thanks for all you do! :)

      Milanote is great for sure, I use it for all sorts of stuff now. It's definitely going to be my starting point for any new stories, too.

    Many thanks Kieren for your sage advice. I am thinking for my next project to write a story in reverse, similar to Martis Amis "Times Arrow" and your approach with Milanote might be the best way to stay organized.

    Hey Kieren, are you still doing your main writing within CampFire, while using Milanote for brainstorming?

    • @KierenWestwoodWriting
      @KierenWestwoodWriting  7 місяців тому +2

      I am indeed yeah! Campfire’s the best place I’ve found for writing an actual long manuscript, but in terms of this sort of thing, Milanote beats it hands down.

      So glad this question was asked, AND answered! Thanks Kieren! I just discovered you through the initial Campfire video. I can’t express how well you described the ‘managing a giant doc’ problem. Having notes everywhere and notebooks everywhere is my adhd brain lol. But your videos have demonstrated a way for me to make them visual, so they can actually become a story outside of my head anyway! These are great tools, thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work!

    • @KierenWestwoodWriting
      @KierenWestwoodWriting  7 місяців тому +1

      I haven't to be honest, though I think it does seem more likely to work for me than more traditional planning, which I find a bit overwhelming! Definitely something I should look into.

    Do you recommend following your same references and techniques that you discuss for writing fictions and non - fictions for informational books or educational reference books.
    Would the writing skills and formats be the same ? And the steps for beginners ... would they all be the same? I see some techniques that I could use but others don't quite fit into what I am reaching for. Do you have a post that describes the "how to" for writing about TEXT BOOK learning, knowledge or information ? Basically a reference book.

      Hey, thanks for your question. To be honest, I don't know anything about non-fiction, so I wouldn't like to give you bad advice!

    Cinema type .. Recipe.
    "Story boarding" with visual panels..
    Sort of reminds me of the William Boroughs cut-up method for poems / lyrics . Ok not really but . Cool. I've been doing this in my head when drafting out concepts but having all placed out virtually like this makes it much more clear . Like a jigsaw puzzle with a picture at the end . Something..
