Hello Charme, yes, now it takes me two days to cut all the grass. Karen wants to cut too, so that will be helpful. With the two tractors we can cut in formation. Bo

Hello Eric, thanks, the fencing job was just the first of many steps to create a beautiful park in the future. We are also excited about the project, but there’s no due date, so we will take our time. Bo
English lesson this time...;-) "the farmer made hay bails". A bail is an amount of money set by a judge or law enforcement to have a prisoner released from jail (bail-jail is how I remember they belong together - same spelling) following a criminal charge. The word you are looking for is "bale" - from the Merriam Webster dictionary: gathering alfalfa or grass to make up into a bale in the field; baling hay (the action of) ; hay baler (the machine that rolls the hay). Loved your freehand design of the gate sign. Good job! Good luck Bo with the garden expansion! The fruit on the tree looks to be a crab apple. Good for jams - Just make sure that it is not an ornamental crab, as those are only good as bird and animal food. The 2nd tree shown with the oblong fruits is definitely an ornamental crab apple. Do not eat those. I'd suggest cutting off a 1 meter length of branch with fruits and leaves of both trees and taking them to a local greenhouse that sells fruit trees in your area. They would be the best to identify them.
Thank you for the recommendations. The new park will definitely be interesting to watch develop over the coming years. We found several fruit tree’s on the property, so we thought to ask you guys with a better knowledge about such things to see what it might be. All the best, Bo
Beautiful parkland, love trees and what you are doing with it, especially the hidden huts for cooling down in in the summer, you need fridges for a sundowner ❤
I would cut a fruit open to see if it has one big pit in it (Mirabelle or a Cherry? a bit early in the year for these to fruit) or when it looks like an apple inside it may be a crabapple. You can use the crabapple to make preserve. Your chateau is one of the most beautiful ones and the orangerie is the icing on the cake!
Thank you Angelika, that is a good way to determine which fruit is which. Blooming season starts a bit early down here. Yes, we were lucky to find a chateau + orangery. According people from the area, this is not a common thing at chateau’s in the south of France. They’re often found in the north of France where they lack the good weather. Bo

Bamboo can be used dry or semi-dry and when young, as long as they don't bend over, they are strong enough to plant in the ground. Just remember that their stems are hollow. You can trim the tips into points but use a very sharp axe for this, not a saw as this splits the stems.
