Hey man, i just wanted to say thank you so much for this. This is one of the best videos for learning Epic 40k i've ever seen. Wish this existed 2 years ago when i was trying to learn haha
You are doing the Emperor's work! As much as I like 40k the flagship-games rules move way to fast for me to really enjoy it much. Meta-shifts, Special rules getting slightly changed. I have heard from other people in the hobby that Epic is the sort of Gold standard, and because its no longer being updated, has basically every faction in it, and is a larger scale, while being smaller scale miniatures will probably make it my game of choice. As I yearn for the strength and certainty of a system that doesn't change every 6 months
Nice! I hope your first game is fun. Rules are pretty heavy in the first few games but stick at it. Hopefully these videos will help. What army are you using?
Thank you so much for doing this, I have been collecting epic for years and I appreciate your two videos. Can you do force reviews and a review of sword wind?
I'm a little confused about formations (how they move on the battlefield). Do you decide formations, or does it depend on how you built your list? Example: If I take a formation of tactical squads (with transports), and add and upgrade of dreadnaughts, do all those stands have to stay in formation of each other, or can I separate the tac squads and dreadnaughts into two separate formations?
assuming you know how 40k works... "Formations" in Epic are what "Units" are in base 40k. In Epic you have Formations made from Units, in 40k you have Units made from singular models. So yes, units from the same Formation do need to stay together... although certain unit types might work a bit differently in that regard than others, even within the same Formation.
Sorry I missed this comment but it was answered well. All the units you purchase make up the formation in your example. Gotta stay together. It’s like a squad of tacticals and dreadnaughts.
It’s a fairly relaxed game for base sizes inside the restrictions. Advantages may come from covering more space with you base - like measuring how close you are to objectives or for special rules or zones of engagement. Disadvantages would come from not being able to move to certain locations and have less units get close enough to attack in shooting or assault.
There’s a very small advantage in game to long thing bases (long rectangles, long thin ovals or whatever) but there’s not much in it. Most people base depending what looks good for the particular models and army.
@@generallyjolliadvice2227 yes that's completely fine, there are some pretty flexible size rules but bases can be any shape. Circles 20-25mm are common.

Thanks for the kind words, hoping to get back into putting some more work into it. It's a formidable game to get into but a great one
GW really needs to bring this back
Amen to that!
Funny you should say that...
@@LJW1912its not the same game it has worse rules IMO, a different scale and its 30K only.
@@Jezza_Onebut if they did it in the same scale then people would use their old minis and not buy new ones, poor old gw can't have that😂

Perfect timing! Thanks man! Just finishing up painting an army and first games on Monday :)

Good luck! Hope you were victorious and remembered the rules 👍
@@2manygames978 i couldnt roll strategy phase at all 😞
perfect, i needed this thank you !
Thanks heaps
Extremely helpful video since reading the rule book and trying the training scenario is as stressing (or more! 😅) as work! 😂
Yes the rules are a real bear! Hope this helps. Or at least aids you
Happy for me to link these in a video? I think they'll be really useful to the epic community
Very happy for anyone to link them anywhere. They’re here to help people
Awesome clips thanks
Thank you
I love epic armageddon :) keep it up
I love it too, it’s an amazing game 👍
Thank you so much for doing this, I have been collecting epic for years and I appreciate your two videos. Can you do force reviews and a review of sword wind?
Cheers and thank you. I’ve got more than two videos and my latest is an Eldar army review from Swordwind
Yes, I have discovered them, thank you for the great videos, now I need to teach my son how to play😂

What do you all use to carry Epic armies
Sorry may have missed it, is there any advantages between different stand base sizes? Smaller Vs larger, round vs square?

3 to 10*
